20 A Pleasent Suprise

Shanks Pov:  The results were as I expected. Besides the seemingly never ending amount of trees, two box shaped objects were detected in the middle of the forest near two worn out houses. They were covered in slight moss that seemed to have started to grow on it recently. I followed the directions that lead to the both poneglyphs after processing the information. A minute later and my gaze loomed on the two tall squares of unknown material. One was red in all parts while the other was blue in color in contrast to the red one. I looked at the symbols written on both poneglyphs trying to see if I could understand them. I ended up looking at the pair of square metals for ten minutes straight with no results at all. I even used my observation  haki to try to see if anything would happen and nothing happened. I sighed in disappointment before I departed the forest with looming disappointment. ' Guess I should have expected that. Oh well, I can always visit Ohara before it's destroyed. It's been six months since Captain Rogers death. And o'hara is destroyed 22 years before the start of the main story. That means I have about 1 year and six months before the world government starts knocking on O'hara's doors like that shady landlord who always wants his rent not one minute late from the set time. That should be enough time for me to assemble some semblance of a crew and money as well as fame. I wonder if i'll have the same first mate as the original shanks did. Well,only time will tell I suppose.' As I thought about that, I bumped to the right to avoid getting pick-pocketed before I continued on my way to find the local hotel.  I occasionally asked some fishman who I sensed were not that hostile to humans for directions and after some talks I was in front of the inn. It was called " Fantasy Inn" and the staff were either fishman or mermaids. There was the rare sight of a hybrid or two that stuck out due to their lack of fish related limbs ,but I ignored all that the moment I got my key after paying for my room. I arrived at my room with no disturbances at all and unlocked the door with the key. I  checked my  room which looked like a normal 3-star hotel from my previous earth with some differences like the beds and lack of phones. I thought a transponder snail would be there instead but it seems like they are not exactly to come by on fishman island. I did my night routine after settling  my baggage in their appropriate places. The night was a pleasant and quiet one which I did not expect with the amount of pirates teeming on the island but I guess hotel and inn owners have a way to deal with any possible ruckus caused by pirates. I woke up and did my morning routine before I was out of the inn and on Fishman streets once again. I asked for directions to the nearest breakfast and some old and kind mermaid grandmas gave me some directions before they were on tier to whatever it is they did for a living. I followed their directions and the place was not a disappointment with their breakfast food. It wasn't long before I was out on the Fish-man streets  once again as I explored the island. And that's what I did for the whole day and the day after that. I did eventually visit the mermaid cafe and it was quite the experience.  The mermaid also lived up to the hype and they were beasts in the sack. So let's just say I went in there as a boy and I came out as a man and let's leave at that. The experience made me stay for 2 extra days then planned before I decided to start my hunt. While on the island , I did run into trouble with some pirates ,if you can even call it trouble . I also finally found and recruited my first two crew mates in what seemed like a twist of fate.  It went like this. A day ago, I decided to test the wine of fishman island after a good time at the mermaid cafe. I was as happy as that one benched player finally getting the chance to play.  :Flash Back to 2 days ago:  Shanks Pov:  I looked at the sign that hung on top of the bar. The sign read " Tom's and Ted's  ambrosia."  I looked at it to make sure I was reading it right because those names sounded suspiciously like the characters of a certain manga about cannibals. . I shrugged off my doubts a second later and entered the bar only to be greeted with the sight of knocked out customers. I was surprised as it's not everyday you walk into a bar only to be greeted with the sight of badly beaten customers who looked like they were barely hanging on for their life. I looked at the two conscious boys  who wore clothes of typical employees and were currently drinking some wine like nothing had happened to the customers . One was a boy who looked like he was 14 and stood at a height of 5''00. He had straight black hair and narrow ,gray eyes.  He had a youthful face with dark circles under his eyes. The other boy looked a little older,16 was my current guess as he didn't look much older than the other boy. This one sported longer hair on all parts of his head and wore a fedora hat .He had a smooth and defined face that highlighted his youth and stood at a height of 5''4. They were both the typical bartender clothes which consisted of a solid black, long-sleeved top,black trousers and black non-slip shoes and a bow tie. They calmly looked at me for a moment before both got back to sipping wine like i did not exist and as a fellow human who knew how to mind his business, i ignored them and walked up to the stool and stated my order to the bartender who seemed nonchalant with the current situation. He whipped up my order and in no time I was enjoying my wine. All was fine and dandy until the bell rang signaling someone's presence. He took one scan of the bar before he sighed and looked at the boys who were still sipping on tier glasses of wine calmly and quietly and said one sentence that changed the wheel of fate, " Your both fired and i don't ever,ever,ever want to see you in this bar again for the rest of your lives."  After saying that, the man walked out the door and the bar returned to silence for a moment. A moment later ,the short teen, who I had been observing for their reactions, let out humorous laughs at the same time. " hahahahahahahaha, Did you see that brother Kenny, he looked so fed up he didn't bother making a whole speech like Grandma said they normally do before they fire you."  The older teen smiled and said nothing at the kid's statement as they both clinked their glasses a moment later in what seemed like a happy celebration for getting fired. I looked at both teens for a moment before I activated one of the powers I hadn't used at all. The sub-ability of  "The essence of the king"," Kingly ambitions".  I saw their ambition and I'm not gonna lie, I was pleasantly surprised. They both had the same dream/ambition which was a rare thing to find in this world. While almost all pirates sail the seas primarily for the goal of finding the one piece, I don't think that's there ultimate goal. Because at some point, they realize that they are chasing after the clues left behind by a famous pirate that could all just be a hoax. Not to mention those who just sail for adventure as they know that deep in their hearts,they will never find the one piece due to either being weak or just being cowards at heart.  So finding two people with the same dream was a surprise for me because I know that at some point ,people's dreams deviate and change  after they experience a major event in their life. And even though they both don't show it, they had the physical build that screamed fighter. Add that to the fact they seem and behave like brothers and they probably have experienced a lot of things together. And their dream/ambition was a worthy and respectful one in my book . So after taking a sip from my glass of wine, I stood up and walked towards their spot.
