21 LIGHT: PART V

It didn't take long for her to gather all the necessary herbs she needed whilst Fuji went hunting for some rabbits.

At the same time, the boys were almost done with gathering enough food for the village. They caught a boar, a few rabbits, and a deer. At the same time, they all gather some fruits and enchanted herbs.

There are different types of herbs and materials in the world.

The normal plants and materials which you can commonly get everywhere and Enchanted plants and materials which are rare to find and can be distinguished because of the lumineux around them. Which is why, I have been curious as to whether an area has something to do with Lumineux. But, Serfred mentions that there are some items that have been made by humans which also possess such light.

"Look what I found, I wonder if Tina will be able to use this." Gran showed the orange lily-like flower with black polka dot spots on it.

After a few hours, they all gathered at the meeting point. Everyone has already arrived at the meeting place when Athena returned with Fuji with a couple of rabbits.

"Wow, Fuji you sure caught a lot of rabbits this time." Gran continued to praise Fuji as the puppy's ears stood up, proud of his great achievement.

Athena felt like laughing seeing how ridiculous Fuji can be. Made her think if it has to do with the fact she doesn't praise him at all.

"Let's head home. We still have loads of things to do."

When they returned to the village, they brought the supplies straight to the church.

There Diana, the nuns along with the woman in the village started preparing for every one meal.

"Diana, I'll leave you to it," Athena said, as she headed out to check the progress of the village.

It has only been a few weeks, yet they've made quite a great progress already. At least they were able to restore one home already, at the same time, with the help of the priest. Athena was able to heal everyone, as long as they didn't suffer from any major injuries. Since, up until now, she is still unable to use the same spell she cast on Serfred.

"You don't have to feel bad, your mana may be recovered at such a pace, but, it still takes time to fully recover." Serfred patted the girl on the head as he tried to comfort her, seeing how upset she was seeing that she could not help everyone.

"I know, it just didn't expect I'll be this weak." She sighs as she looks at the people who continue to live their life missing a part of them.

It is not I who is weak, but this darn body of mine. How sickly was this girl that I'll collapse for just walking a few meters? What I don't understand is, how is it even impossible for this body to be sick at birth. She is a child of a power Magic Swordsman and an Elementalist. It's far too illogical for her to be born sick. Only if she was cursed, then I'll agree with the possibility of her being sickly at birth. But, she wasn't…

However, even though she is unaware of the fact her body was cursed or not, she is now aware of the fact her body is filled with poison. Which led her to conclude the reason, to why her body continues to deteriorate every day.

It happened during the time she was training with Father Frances. The more she learned about all sorts of healing magic and support spells, she discovered something which shocked them all.

One time she was casting the spell on her which was to eliminate impurity in one's body. Despite the spell she cast was not perfect, they were surprised when she suddenly coughed out such dark colored blood and collapsed.

It was on that day that they found out she has more than one type of person in her body since Father Roland was able to nullify it. The rest, was far too immune to his spells already and now have adapted well into the girl's body.

Athena realized her body felt weak all the time and despite how fast her body was recovering, because of the poison inside her body, there was no hope of recovery. It made her wonder why she couldn't do normal labor as if her body could not even stand on her own. She discovered that her inside was being decayed slowly. She was poisoned so badly that in the modern world the poison or disease, she has can be called cancer.

Inside, Athena was busy working on another potion. She has little knowledge when it comes to making elixir and so does the church. They have no clue in making other elixir apart from recovery and mana.

The girl has been experimenting with all the herbs she has gathered in the forest. Since some of the herbs were familiar to her, she thought she could make modern medicine for the people as well. She was studying to be a doctor and hoped to be a Plant Pathologist back in her world. Plus, she has vast knowledge when it comes to plants, herbs and their uses since she has been a member of the botany club since secondary school.

Yet, she discovered some plants have different properties from the modern world. She realizes that they may be the same in shape, color, and size, yet their properties and effectively classification is different.

Whilst she was recording her experiment, she heard someone knocking on the door.

Athena quickly opened the door and noticed the boy with a bashful manner than his usual energetic self. She let the boy in as she went back to what she was doing . "Gran, is there something wrong?"

"Tina, I-I found this earlier." Gran took out the enchanted flower he found earlier in the forest.

When Athena saw the flower, her eyes sparkled seeing the lumineux surrounding it. "Weh-where did you find this?"

"In the southern part, I tried to find some more, but there weren't any. Plus, the atmosphere was getting too strong for me to handle so I didn't go anywhere further to check." He explained as he scratched his head.

Athena realized why he was unable to find more, since the southern area is home to most of the deers. Plus, this flower he found is the deers favorite meal. "The reason for that is because deers love them."

"Alright, then I leave you to it." Gran showed himself out as he realized the girl was still busy.

"Gran, thank you." The girl gave him a sweet and gentle smile.

Gran saw the charming smile, it was the first time he witnessed a girl could smile so brightly. He has been living in the Northern Region for a while now and has not seen such a smile even from the children. He made up his mind to do everything in his will to make sure that he will get to see that smile again, and maybe to bring that same smile to the children as well.
