49 How Annoying

The large dining room was full of laughter as the royal family and their guests ate their meals. "Yesterday was amazing, you should see Diana swim." Kylo exclaimed between bites.

"It was amazing until you couldn't remember past your second glass of wine, you mean," Alex cut in causing everyone to chuckle.

"Well yeah," he blushed.

"Can I go swimming?" Emma beamed.

"Of course you can," Queen Valeria smiled back as she sipped her drink as a knock game from the dinning room door.

"Come in!" the king called as the laughter cut off.

"Sorry to disturb you, your majesty." The guard apologised, sweat running down his face "but we need Lady Diana's assistance."

"With what?" Alex asked sceptically

"With the prisoner your highness, they're refusing to speak to anyone but her."

"How annoying," Diana spoke as she walked out the dining room doors the guard running to catch up. Descending the long winding steps into the dungeon neither of the two spoke. Arriving at the assassins cell Diana became even more agitated by the assassin. "Leave us she," commanded the nearby knights and with a reluctant gaze they followed her orders.

"So you came, princess." The girl hissed the words as though they were poison.

"Camilla, what do you want?"

"Is that anyway to treat an old friend?" the girl laughed.

"We were never friends, now don't make me repeat myself." Diana replied not showing a single hint of emotion.

"To kill the crown prince," she laughed a devilish laugh.

"We both know that's not true, your to experienced to let anyone beat you in one move," Diana replied growing bored.

Camilla continued to laugh her eyes going wide "Your parents know where you are I was sent to deliver a message."

"Go on then," the girl said her ice blue eyes cold as a blizzard.

"They're coming for you and when they get you back in their clutches they'll make you suffer. They'll kill all those you care for." Camilla cackled as she repeated the words "Your times running out little princess."

Wordlessly Diana left the dungeon passing the guards as she went and heading up the stairs before turning on her heel taking the key from the guard and opening the cell door.

"I knew you wouldn't leave me here," Camilla cackled loudly as she stumbled across the stone floor.

"No, your right I can't leave you here." Diana said the storm in her eyes calming "Guards."

"Yes?" one of them replied as they all came to the cell door.

"What is the punishment for attempted assassination of a royal?" she asked coldly.

"If they admit to the attempt then they are sentenced to death, if the attempt is not admitted to then they punishment differs depending on many variables."

'"D-Diana what-" Camilla stumbled over her words before she was harshly cut off by an ice cold voice. "Camilla Traditor for the crime of attempted assassination on Crown Prince Alexander Audax Fides Ferox of Fortis you are sentenced to death." Before anyone could say another word Diana pulled out her sword and on one quick moved sliced her head from her body.

Blood spraying across Diana's face and neck. No one dared speak a word to her as she left the dungeon and headed towards a nearby balcony where she sat watching the rain come to an end. Sitting there she fiddled with the bracelet commander Dolosus had given her, she had worn it above Emma's bracelet ever since. It's only a simple silver band with a pheonix carved into it but she always found comfort in wearing it.

"I heard what happened," Alex spoke as he came and sat on the other edge of the balcony. Handing her a handkerchief so she could wipe away the blood. "The guards said it seemed like you knew each other."

Diana took a moment before answering "She was a knight who worked for my family and even though she wasn't actually here to kill you she admitted to the crime and if she wasn't captured, I have no doubt she would have killed you anyway."

"Were you friends?"

"No, we used eachother for our own goals but she was sent here to deliver a message from my supposed parents."

" 'Supposed'? " He asked questioningly.

"They kidnapped me when I was a baby," she sighed "and now they want me back to continue their lies."

"I'm sorry Diana,"

"Why? You didn't kidnap me as a child," she laughed bitterly.

"How did you find out?" he asked curiously.

"I'd always suspected something, so I got Liam to investigate it's what he gave me in the satchel." She explained as they both fell silent.

"Do you know who your parents are?" He asked with hesitation.

"No and I don't think I want to," she admitted "Why bother? It won't change anything."

"Fair enough," Alex agreed as they both watched the sky. 'How can you be so strong after suffering so much?' he wondered as he spared a glance at the girl sitting beside him.

They sat there well into the night before going to bed. When Diana was finally inside her room she let a single tear trickle down her face before heading to her desk and reading through the papers Liam had given her.

"I will never allow you to hurt my friends," she muttered. "Never."

She spent the hall night reading through the pages again and again hopeing to find something, anything new.

"Where am I from?" she whispered falling asleep to see those faces again but still they wouldn't answer any of her questions. All the dreams gave her were more questions and a headache. "How annoying," she breathed heading to the bathroom to take a bath.

"It's so annoying, I can't figure this out and if I'm not careful they learn who I am and I don't even know why I care if they do. It's not like I'm actually those monsters daughter." She moaned washing the soap out of her hair and drying off.
