The Sound On The Ship

      Ilona pressed her forehead against Mason's back and squeezed her eyes closed.  She couldn't look.  If anything happened to them, she would never forgive herself.

      Well, that was if she survived at all.

      Mason hadn't wanted to come, and she'd known but made him come anyway.  He had been on edge about the dragons for days and had said he didn't think it was safe for them to stray far from home.

      But she had made him come anyway.

      Ilona felt guilt sink into her chest.  Why hadn't she listened to him?

      "Impossible," Mason whispered then, startling her from her thoughts, "This is... This is impossible."

      His arm that had been holding her fell away, and he leaned farther forward.  Ilona frowned in confusion and moved to look in the direction he was looking.

      "Mace?  What is going..."
