Chapter Nine : Assignment

Xia's POV

I woke up in the morning by attack of my monstrous clock. I was exhausted by the journey. I was kind of happy for today, I'm going to continue my normal life. I wanted to meet my friends, have fun, whine about studies and be a normal person.

I rushed and got ready in what it seems like an hour. I got downstairs and saw a note on dining table. It was from my parents, they left for their office early. Nevermind, I'll go and pick Tora. I stuffed my mouth with cheese sandwich, took my keys and padded to the garage.

I knocked on Tora's door. She came to open the door and when she saw no one was there she came outside to check and...

*Bhooo*

"What the hell is this?," She almost screamed. I was laughing hysterically.

"You know we're not in school Xia," she frowned. "But you're darling," I winked. "By the way I missed you," I hugged her and she returned it. "So how was everything?," She asked with a smile. "Ah! Nothing special," I replied. I don't know how I can explain about what happened there to her so it's better to be mum.

"You tell me what did I missed?," I asked and placed myself on the couch. "Well we completed our assignment. Again Reese bailed on us which is not a new thing. It was done by Gordon and me so you owe us," she stated while eating her breakfast. "Okay. Hey let's go we don't want to miss the first lecture, do we?," I said. She grabbed her bag and we left for college.

We rushed through the corridors and reached our class but bad luck we were late. Mrs Nate gave us an annoying look. "Come inside. If this happened again I'll not allow both of you to enter in my class," she yelled. We gave a sheepish smile and sped to take our seats. Reese waved at us, he was sitting on the last bench which is our reserved seat. We took our seats beside them. "Hey guys," I smiled at Gordon and Reese but then our attention was taken by Mrs Nate. She was asking to submit our assignments roll number wise. "Be ready Gordon after Davina's group it'll be our turn," I alerted them. "Reese take out the assignment," Gordon whispered. "Dude it's with you," Reese replied. "This is not funny!," Gordon gave him a I'll-kill-you-now look. "I'm not kidding man. I thought you'll bring it with you," Reese responded. "I asked you to take it from my table. Damn it! We're gone now,"Gordon was fuming with anger.

Mrs Nate announced our roll numbers and we stood up. "C'mon hurry up submit your assignment," she shouted. We all were standing in silence. "What is wrong with you guys? Hurry up I don't have whole day for this,"she demanded. We looked at each other. I collected some courage and spoke "Actually Ma'am we forgot to bring our assignment,". "Birds of same feathers flock together! It's amazing. Now I'll forget to give you marks. Sit down now," she yelled. Everyone started laughing at us. Great! Now we're humiliated. What a great start of this week and here I was thinking it'll be a fun day.

Gordon was cursing under his breath. We sat in silence for the whole lecture which seemed like an eternity.

After the lecture got over we escaped like the class was on fire. Gordon walked away from us in supersonic speed. We followed him. "Hey! Wait for us," Tora shouted. He turned and spoke "I'm going to canteen. You guys go to your classes,". "Well after the momentous appreciation we got in the class I think I might need a break to digest it," I remarked. "Me too," Tora said. "Me three," Reese winked and wrapped his hand around Gordon's arms. Gordon gave him a death glare. "Don't look at me like that darling I know how much you love me," Reese said. "Stay away from me," Gordon tried to free his arm but Reese refused to let him go. "Baby please no PDA here,"Reese winked. Gordon sighed. Tora and I were giggling.

We ordered our food. No one said anything we were sitting in complete silence. "C'mon Gordon I'm sorry man. We can submit our assignment tomorrow. Chill," Reese gave a sad smile. "Hey Gordon relax dude. Don't be so grumpy. It's not like he did it knowingly," I stated. "C'mon breathe gruffy gruff," I pulled his cheeks. "Go away," he tried to push me. I faked a sad face and went to my seat. He sighed "Fine! I'm cool okay?,". "Cool," I gave him a toothy smile. Waiter came with our food. We were eating happily till we saw Davina standing beside Tora. "What are you doing here," Tora questioned her. "Mrs Nate is calling you people in the staff room now," she replied and left.

Wow! Now what does she want from us? We quickly finished our food and left for the staff. "See what is happening because of you dumb fellow," Tora scolded Reese. He stick his tongue out at her "Gordon please punch him from my behalf," she said. "Keep quiet! Let's see why she is calling us," Gordon replied.

As we entered in the staff room we saw Mrs Nate was on her desk. We wished her. She smiled and said "Nice work. I like your assignment. This time I'm leaving you guys now but from next time submit your assignment on time,". We nodded in unison. We all were surprised. Who brought that assignment? Maybe Gordon's mum brought it. We thanked her and we're about to leave. "Gordon you must thank your brother for saving you and your friends today," she stated. Gordon looked confused but still replied "Yes Ma'am I'll,".
