5 Chapter 5: The First Act

The limo stopped right in front of the red carpet. Camera flashes already follow any movement from the car.

"Ready?" Adam asked Diana.

She took a deep breath and then nodded. "Here we go."

Adam was the first one to get out of the car. She could hear a deafening sound. When they saw Adam, everyone was screaming.

"ADAM!! ADAM!!" A group of chattering women called his name numerously. His popularity is immense.

He helped her get out of the car by offering his hand to her. She took it and was welcomed by the camera's flashes immediately. People gasped at the sight of her coming with Adam.

"Isn't that Diana Frost?" She could hear people saying.

"It's really Diana Frost!"

"Is she dating Adam?"

"What is she doing with Adam?"

"Are they together now?"

"Holy sh*t, this is going to make headlines!"

"I'll get a lot of money from this!" The press snapped their fingers rashly to their cameras, ensuring that no moments were lost.

As she saw more camera flashes, Diana put her hand on Adam's elbow. Adam carefully led her towards the entrance. People called their names, mostly Adam's, which he just ignored. But it didn't stop them from screaming their lungs out. Despite not having an entertainment background, his popularity was enormous. But perhaps the fact that he was the man who was constantly on the cover of F magazine, being the youngest man to tramp old money and take the crown as the wealthiest man alive, would give more insight to his popularity.

"Are you okay?" Adam asked her once they were in the lobby.

She nodded. His butterfly ties were a little crooked on the side, which bothered her OCD side, and she reached out to fix it without hesitation."There, let's go."

Adam seemed stunned by her action for a few seconds before nodding and continuing towards the ballroom.

The ballroom was already filled with many people, with their shining shoes and outfits, as well as the grand and expensive interior to please the guests. As some of them became aware of their presence, their expressions began to change from surprise to astonishment. But their reaction seemed to be more subtle compared to the ones on the red carpet.

"Adam Stone, you are finally here." Antony, one of the most famous directors in the country for his many hits, approached them with a big smile. Then his eyes lit up as he noticed her. "Is Diana with you?"

"Yes, she is with me." Adam replied.

"Evening, Antony." Diana gave the man a smile.

"Nice to see you here, I thought you wouldn't come since I heard your father's condition was not that great. My condolence."

"Thank you; fortunately, he's getting better now." She hoped so.

"Glad to hear that, So are you two dating now?" He looked at them with unhidden curiosity.

"Yes." Adam simply answered that. Diana just smiled.

"Oh." His brown eyes light up again. "Congratulation!"

"Oh, thanks," Diana answered.

"When did you two start?" He acted like the press.

"Antony." Adam called him. He seemed to notice the warning in his voice as he backed down.

"Oh sorry… I should not have let myself get this excited. You two make quite a pair. I can't help but be curious." He laughed continuously. "Okay then, I'm sure you two need somewhere to go. So let's catch up later and enjoy the party."

As he went somewhere, Diana released a heavy sigh.

"He was just a first one, wasn't he?"

Adam nodded. "Yes, we should go to meet the others."

Once they met the people there, they gave the same answer as the one they gave to Antony. People now congratulate them from time to time.

...

"Adam, you don't have to walk me to the room, you know..."

"It's already late; they were out tonight because of me."

Diana smirked. "Ah, a gentleman you are."

Adam didn't respond to her tease.

Once they were in front of her father's room, they stopped walking, and she turned around to face Adam.

"Diana, are you sure you didn't want to go home first and change?"

"No It's fine, I already have some clothes to spare here. Besides, I can't leave my father alone any longer."

Adam looked at her a bit longer. "You are a good daughter."

Diana just chuckled. Adam's expression softens toward her. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience."

"No, it's okay, Adam. I understand, the party is the perfect timing for our publication, so you don't have to be sorry about this. After all, this is my decision too."

Adam nodded. "Thank you for tonight, Diana. Can I come again tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow? Aren't you busy?"

"Not really, I have time to spare too."

Diana looked him in the eyes, seemingly doubtful of his statement, as she knew herself that he had so many companies to take care of. But she decided not to think much about it, and his visit could be very good for their image as a couple.

"Okay then, see you tomorrow." She agreed.

Adam nodded. "Rest well, Diana."
