5 Chapter 4 Blood And Burgers

Silence filled the car as we waited for this heavy traffic to move, the inside the car was silent while the outside was full of noises you would expect from road traffics; car horns and engine noises.

I was there seated with my seatbelt hugging me tightly, since earlier the person driving became a phsyco and decided to make the car go fast as it can, but I'll gave him points for slowing down whenever there's a lot of people around but still he was still going fast.

If he wasn't my senior I would've arrested him by now, but when I asked if he knew that what he was doing was illegal he would respond something only policemen in movies would say; the phrase "I am the law."

Which is a little corny since it's used in like a thousands of movies, anyway back to where we are.

The car is moving in every few minutes. It was a little frustrating, I don't know why the traffic was this bad, usually cars would just drive continuously only stopping when they need to like stopping like on a red light and such.

The man driving was grumbling something, I can't really hear it but I already now it's some swears and insults.

I then proceeded to try and calm him down.

"Umm, Satou-san you should calm down, hehe." I said trying to calm him but his response was not that surprising,

He turned to me in this grim looking face, I felt like I was about to get killed. So this is what traffic does to a man, I said to myself.

His bended legs was going up and down as if his patience was slowly fading away.

He then honked his horn again and again then he lost his patience and got out of his car.

"Where are you going?" I yelled out in confusion, I was truly confused I don't know what he was going to do or where he was going but since he gone out, then I got no choice but to follow him, and once again I yelled out the same question. I don't know if he heard me but he seemed really eager to go to where he is going.

We then continued to walk through several cars, and as I passed in the middle of the two lane highway I got a better view of the incoming vehicles which was in a continuous phase. I then seen a lot of different reactions on the bad traffic.

Some people were bored, some were angry, some were talking to each other but most people were frustrated, if it was the time of the year where it gets hot even a little bit in this time; which was noon by the way, if it was the thay time of the year where it gets hot then the people's reaction will surely worsen.

As we were getting far away from the car I then thought to myself if Satou-san had a girlfriend, well of course he does. Every mature man has one, plus he is attractive then there's no surprise in that but still I don't see a ring on his finger. I don't know why I'm thinking about this, it's embarrassing now that I think about it made me blush.

Anyway, going back to the traffic. Earlier the cars were slowly moving but now it's just stopped for some reasons, I don't know what's the cause of this but I think I have a clue on what it is.

It's maybe is some kind of riot or road rage. Satou-san caught on to this and ran, I then followed.

When we arrived we saw a man holding a person hostage with a gun pointed on the side of his forehead and in front of two cars that looked like it collided with each other, and surrounding them were the SWAT team.

We arrived at the right time, well I won't call it that but coming on this time answered a lot of questions, I don't have the so called "detective skills" of Satou-san but even I can guess what happened here.

First the two cars collided which made either one angry or both, the two then argued, explaining the slow moving traffic. After that there's several routes that might have happen but leads to one outcome.

First Route: one of them was apologizing and the other one was angry, so the man who were angry got a gun, but then the cops arrived and held the other man hostage. It's the most believable route but it could be the opposite.

Second Route: The man apologizing got angry and then got a gun and the cops came and then this happened, seems unlikely but there's a possibility.

Third: Both of them were angry and the other one got a gun and got into this situation. It is the most logical one.

Fourth and the most unlikely: both of them were apologizing but- no I'm not gonna finish that, just... no, I just wont.

Back to where I am, Satou-san was talking to one of the people on the SWAT team which I then listened in.

"This explains the traffic, the unreliable people on the SWAT team." Said Satou-san in an annoyed tone, which the person he was talking to which apparently was the leader got annoyed and responded with a voice that was clearly annoyed but was trying to hold back.

"We are trying our best to avoid the hostage getting killed. We can't just fire carelessly." This actually made sense since if they just fire and attacked the man, the hostage may be killed and also doing this has a chance of getting people that are not involved hurt.

"Your just incompetent." Said Satou-san, this really made me confused in what he said, but naturally the leader's reaction was anger.

"What did you say to me? Just because the chief trusts you so much doesn't mean your much better than me." Said the guy Satou-san insulted.

"I am better than you."

This made the man pissed like super pissed that he clenched his fists, but noticing that I was there he didn't continue to do what he was about to do.

He then sighed in defeat and then asked Satou-san what to do,

As they were discussing I noticed that a lot of peoples glares were in this direction, mostly women's. So they also admire Satou-san's charm huh. Some were even talking about him even though they are clearly hearable.

As I scanned the area, a sound of a megaphone blasted and made me jump out of surprise.

The one holding the megaphone was a man who I never saw before.

"Hey Mike it's me John, your buddy."

I see, by the looks of things the man who was holding hostage's name was Mike and coincidentally his best friend John was at the scene.

The man holding hostage then looked at the direction of the voice and yelled,

"Hey, get the police out of here,Mike!"

"They'll do what you say, but in one condition."

"What do you mean one condition!?"

The man then gave the megaphone to the leader of the SWAT team and then began to spoke.

"If you drop your weapon and make the person you're holding hostage escape then we'll peacefully leave and that includes you."

"How can I believe you? You're surrounding me. I know your tactics, you'll make me believe that you'll leave me alone but in reality you'll capture me as soon as you get the chance." Said the man pressing the gun harder at the hostage's forehead, which made the hostage twitch in fear.

Satou-san and the leader once again argued and came to a conclusion.

Satou-san then turned around and leaved, I tried to follow him but he stopped me with his hand signaling me to stay put, he then got a cellphone and slowly approached the man holding the hostage.

"STAY AWAY OR I'LL SHOOT!" Yelled out the man.

"Someone wants to talk to you." Said Satou-san handing the guy a phone.

The man hesitates but then decided to reach out his hand, Satou-san puts the phone on the man's hand. The man then looked at Satou-san who was lighting a cigarette and smoked in front of him, the man then slowly raised up the phone to the level of his ears.

I can't really hear what the man was talking about or who the man was talking to but the man suddenly besgn sweating and was breathing heavily as if he is exhausted. He then dropped the gun and lets go of his hostage. Satou-san who was smoking right besides him picked the gun up and signaled the SWAT team.

I was confused and curious on what Satou-san did, because that wasn't an ordinary phone call. I'll ask him later, for now I'll be quiet.

Satou-san then passed by me and looked at me and gestured to go back to the car using his head, well it was just a simple tilt of the head but somehow I was able to understand.

I was walking side by side on the sidewalk with Satou-san, the once non-moving traffic became more and more lively. As the car passed by me my tied hair sways in the same direction, Satou-san's trench coat and hair was doing the same.

Now looking at it Satou-san is pretty tall, I'm 5'4 and looking at it he might be around 6' something.

We then walked into the car and got seated into the same positions we were on earlier. Satou-san then sniffed the air and then looked at me,

"I got used to your smell, that I forgot that you were reeking of soy sauce." He said as if poking fun at me, I replied with a simple laugh and then we began moving.

I didn't now why we stopped here, it's a fancy clothing store, it's one of those store were you try some clothes out and when you see the price tag it's expensive as hell, but you have to buy it since you already tried it on, those types of stores, I'm the only one who does that? Oh.

But in seriousness I don't know why we're here, well I know the fact that I need new clothes but I don't really think that I have to buy in this type of store,

"Are you telling me to buy a white button-down shirt in there? There are a lot of cheaper stores you-".

"I thought that women at your age likes these types of stores, but since the chief handed over his credit card, why not spend it all?." He said cutting my sentence off.

"Wait What!?" I said confused. I didn't know that the chief was going to pay, and I also didn't know why the chief trusts this person, he looks and acts shady but again he is charming in some ways. I then tried to see if I misheard things.

"You're telling me that the chief, is just handing out money? Or is my first pay going to decrease if I spend money inside of that?" I said pointing at the card.

"I don't know why but the chief isn't going to charge you anything, plus he doesn't care about money anyway." He said while lighting a cigarette, I don't how many times he smoked today but damn, he surely is a heavy smoker.

"Because he is nice, right?" I said, I don't care if its biased or anything but I really think the chief is a good person.

"Are you an idiot? He doesn't care about money because he has tons of them." Hearing that I then puffed my cheeks and crossed my arms, as I was about to open my mouth and was about to lecture him about why the chief is god himself, but before I could say anything the man besides me spoke,

"Anyway, go buy yourself a shirt and pants and also take a bath, you reek. There's a public bath near here and while you do that I'll be heading off to somewhere."

"Why would I change to pants?"

"It's easier to move in, dumbass."

"You got a point, well then, off I go!"

I then nodded and got out of the car and held the credit card in my hands, I then approached the fancy clothing store.

The car then left behind me leavin dust scross the road.

Inside there were a lot of cool clothing, from fancy dresses to simplistic but beautiful tuxedos I then looked around too see if there were staff around, a woman who looks like the same age as me suddenly appeared behind me which made me jump.

"Hi there madam, how may I help you?" She said politely disregarding the smell I'm carrying.

"I got drenched in soy sauce and I wanted to change but don't want to go home, so can you show some clothing that are similar to mine."

But then ideas came flooding down on my head and thought it would be awesome to dress like Satou-san which I did.

Well that's what I thought I would do but instead I picked an outfit that made me look tomboyish, I had my shirt tucked in my black pants and my belt, I then had designer shoes instead of black shoes, since there's really no dress codes on the office then it's fine to dress like this.

Well that's what I imagine what I'll look like after I took a bath and wore, which I wasn't disappointed with the results.

After taking a bath on the nearest bath house which was only a walk away, I got dressed and looked at a window that reflected and acted as a mirror.

I was looking at myself and somehow I looked somewhat decent. And did I mention I had a necktie? Yes I do now.

Now that I'm wearing everything, I looked like I was cosplaying a character from a manga called Chainsaw Man, read it if you haven't by the way.

I then walked outside to be greeted by the man himself, Satou Rui-san.

"You changed your appearance in an instant huh?" He said while standing in front of his car.

I ignored his mockery and entered the car, which Satou-san followed. I then asked,

"So, where were you?"

"The chief texted me to get you some food, so here you go." He then grabbed a paper bag that had a M logo written on it, and while talking about this subject, I heard that this fast food company existed before The Union ever happened. Which is rare for a lot of businesses, a lot has been made after the event.

"Thanks." I politely accepted, inside there were four big sized burgers, one is enough for me so I gave two to Satou-san and the other one will have to wait, Satou-san's face when I gave the two burgers transformed from gloomy to still gloomy but a little surprised, I'm pretty sure he was caught off guard.

Satou-san placed his share next to him then drove. While the car was moving, I was slowly chowing down on my burger.

The buildings we past by were like a blur, I didn't notice where we were since I was enjoying the burger, it was good, it was finger lickin' good. I don't know if that phrase was the right one but I'll say it is.

We then got into the beach side and on there I saw wierd rock formations, some where in a form of hands and there was also a giant skull shaped one. I don't know what happened here but it looks awesome.

As I finished my first burger I then remembered what happened earlier and began questioning Satou-san.

"Satou-san what did you do earlier?"

Apparently this happened, Satou-san san and the SWAT team leader argued on who had the best plan, my senior then said that he has a better one but is waiting for the SWAT leader to try his plan which was getting the hostage taker's best friend who coincidentally was on the scene.

"How did you know that it was the guy's best friend?"

"Because the hostage taker kept looking at the guy and the guy was shouting his best friends name."

That didn't work out so they tried Satou-san's plan. To scare the hostage taker, a risky move since he can easily kill the hostage if you scare him but my partner just said fuck it all and took the risk. Apparently Satou-san had a friend who had an ability that can imitate voices and a he also knew a man who can hack devices and stuff and they were a huge asset on that.

First the hacker hacked the hostage taker's best friend, John's phone via phone number which was given by the owner of the phone.

And the hacker then shows some call histories to the guy who can imitate voices. And they found a call from Mike's Girlfriend (Mike is the name of the hostage taker by the way). After that the imitator did his job by scaring Mike by pretending to be in trouble.

Satou-san then asked the hacker if he could make the number the same as the girlfriend, the hacker then did just that and Satou-san then did what we saw, and apparently the imitator pretended that he was kept hostage as well and if you kill or won't follow the instructions the police say she'll die, and because the man loved her so much he just did that and surrendered.

It really was a genius idea, I am very impressed.

So into the explaining Satou-san did, which was a little different in Satou-san's version I forgotten where were going; He talked about how everyone was dumb so I decided not to include that.

We then arrived at the Police Station.
