5 My Father’s Request

Kaiden's POV

"Prince Kaiden, when are you going to stop with that adventure of yours? You were trying to visit all the realms; I know you are strong, so stop exploring the human world and the fairy world. It would help if you only focus your time here in our world. You are going to be king soon; our central concern is the Mage realm, not only because they are the closest to us, but they have been there ever since I can remember, and in due time they will be under us. King Julius's Kingdom will fall." My father said after he cornered me on the hallways, and he forced me to come with him to the throne room.

I just got back from my adventure in the human realm. I know I am the Crown Prince of this world, and I have been ready for a long time, but my old man has no plan to step down yet, so instead of staying in our world, I learn to love traveling from different realms to another. When I was younger, I don't like my father's cruelty towards the slaves and prisoners, especially the yearly tournament, and I am just glad it stopped seven years ago when the Dragon Witch participated in the game. How I wish I were there during that time. Still, I was away having fun in the realm of the elves. I have friends anywhere, and I always love adventure. I also helped those in need, and if I become the King of our world, I will make amendments to some of our rulings.

"Father, you are strong, and I know you don't need me to be King yet, and I love my life as of now," I replied.

"You should stop fooling around, Kaiden; I am now ready to turn over the crown to you." He said, and it made me shocked, and all the royalty dragon shifters present in the throne room gasp. All the members of the council are noblemen and dragon shifters. During my grandfather's reign, he made a big difference in the dragon world.

He doesn't like the idea that there is another king from another dragon domain because before, during the leadership of King Sullivan, each dragon color has their land and kingdom, and they have their king. At the same time, King Sullivan proclaimed the King of all dragon kings because he was the ancient golden dragon. He acknowledged the individuality of each dragon color; they want them to have their independence that is why the dragon shifters loved him.

But my grandfather was selfish by the time he had usurped the kingdom of Dracousia; he denounced all the kings from different domains of the dragon realm. However, he still acknowledged them like royalty and gave them particular functions in the Kingdom. The dragons still respect the royalties from different colors as high-ranking individuals in the dragon realm. Still, they lost their chance to become king because only the Drakonar heir is entitled to be king, and that is me, being his only son.

"Don't give me that look, Kai. You are my only heir, and I want you to rule the dragon world, but in one condition." He said, and it made me raised my eyebrow.

"Son, you need to deliver to me the heart of the Dragon Witch, and that is the only time I will proclaim you as the new King of the Dragon Realm." He declared, and it made me stunned.

"And why do you need her heart, father?" I asked.

"Have you forgotten about the prophecy, Kaiden?" He asked.

"Of course not, I haven't forgotten about it, but it is apparent she is the true heir of the dragon world because she is the last Golden Dragon," I said.

"Yes, but you forgot the main point, Kai; she is a witch and a powerful one, and according to the prophecy, whoever will eat her heart will turn into an immortal." He said, and I couldn't believe that my father wants to live longer than one thousand years old. The council members' eyes widened.

"Yes! It is accurate, and I will release a decree that I am the only one who can have her heart." He said, and I shook my head. I couldn't believe the King of the Dragon Realm believed in that prophecy.

"If you had only seen her, you would have known how powerful she is. She was only twelve years old at that time; can you imagine how powerful she is right now that she turned nineteen years old?" My father asked, and I know I haven't seen her, but I have heard from the dragon army that she was so powerful that she was able to control the mind of Lizardo, my father's right hand and one of the strongest among the red dragon's army.

"So from now on, you should devote your time searching for the dragon witch instead of fooling around visiting the human world. Why are you even fascinated with humans when they don't have power? They are powerless individuals. If you will tell me you visited the demon world, maybe it is time for me to be impressed with your adventures." He declared.

"Starting tomorrow, I want you to start your journey in finding the Dragon Witch, our dragons searched the entire dragon realm and the mage kingdom, including the Dasos Forest, but they haven't found any clue. Everyone knew you are the most powerful red dragon ever born, and now it is your time to show me that you can kill the dragon witch." He said.

"Don't worry, father, I will bring you the heart of the dragon witch on a platter," I said, and my father laughs.

"That is my boy! Do you see? My son will look for the Dragon Witch. Make me proud, Kaiden." He said.

"Of course, father, I will," I replied.

"Okay, I know you just got back. Go to your room and have a rest." He said, and I felt glad he dismissed me. I go to the kitchen and grab some food to eat, and I meet Kiera. She is of royal blood since her grandfather was the King of the green Dragons domain during the time of King Sullivan.

"Prince Kaiden!" She smiled widely at me, and I know we dated for a while, but it didn't last long, and I know she needs to move on, and she was the reason why I was always away; it wasn't only her I had flings from here and there, but I haven't found anyone yet which makes my heart skip a beat, like the one they described in poetry, like butterflies in my stomach, the electricity that travels in my entire body, no one makes me feel that way.

"Hey! Princess Keira, fancy meeting you here." I said.

"I always came here to look for you, but you are always away." She said.

"You know I am on my quest to find the dragon witch, so, if you will excuse me," I said, but she took my hand.

"Prince Kaiden, please, I miss you." She said, and I'm not too fond of it when she always uses her tears to let me stay.

"Not now, Keira, I am tired," I said, and she released my hand.

"Okay, I will come back tomorrow." She said and turned her heels away from me, and I teleport to my room.

As I lay on my bed, I wonder how I am going to find the dragon witch. I know her name is Winona, and I bet she is also beautiful like her mother, for how many times I visiter her mother on the tower, but I never show myself to her, and I wonder why my father didn't kill her. I saw how Emeric died in front of the Palace ground. I fall asleep as I keep thinking about the dragon witch.

By the time I wake up, I left the Kingdom and began my search. In the morning, I visit the human world once again. I love watching humans doing their ordinary life, and I pity them because they do manual labors. I am fascinated by the older woman who is making potions on the black market. I wonder how her customers believe in her potions, but I got shocked when I found out her customers go back once the potion's container got empty. I couldn't think about what is going on with these humans. I was always tempted to buy her potion, and today I need to buy one because I need to disguise myself if I have to find the dragon witch.

I passed the mage kingdom, and I bought bow and arrows, and then I want to go to Dasos and take a rest since I know this is the only place that the mages and the dragons are afraid of, and I also want to find out what are the creatures lurking on this forest why they are all scared of this place.

When I reached Dasos Forest, I don't plan to use my bow and arrow because these are only props, but when I saw a rabbit with colorful ears, I couldn't stop firing. Still, the rabbit was fast, and I wonder where my arrows go since I haven't found a single one when I have almost thirty of them, and I couldn't believe I didn't hit the rabbit with colorful ears and tails. I was searching around the trees when I heard a feminine voice behind me.

"Are you looking for this?" She asked angrily, and when I turned around, moved closer to her, and looked into her eyes, I realized I am face to face with the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Even though I have traveled from different realms and have seen beautiful fairies, nothing compares to her beauty, and I don't know why she looks so angry with me.

I said yes to her that I was looking for my arrow, and I wonder why she wants me to apologize to her, and I laughed when she called me a young man. And she accused me that I almost hit her with my arrow, and I want to tell her unless she was a rabbit, then it was me who tried to hit her. I asked her what she was talking about, and before she can answer me, another batch of arrows showered on us, and I realized someone is trying to kill us.

I suddenly felt the urge to save her, and I immediately pinned her to the ground as I ducked my head and I shielded her with my body, and for the first time, I experienced my heart skip a beat as I looked at her beautiful face as the arrows continue to hit my back. She is a stranger to me, but it feels like I have known her for a long time, and I realized for the first time I like a girl.
