Gratification

Kaiden's POV

"Son, what is going on? Why do you look like that?" My mother-in-law asked me when she opened the door of their chamber, and I found prince Emeric standing behind her, who looked at me with a confused expression on his handsome face.

"Mom, you need to come to our chamber; Winona gave birth to our son, Dea was there, but we are losing her," I said as I tried to keep my tears at bay. I am the king of the Dracousia Kingdom now, but I felt so useless and helpless as I watched my wife's motionless body.

"What?" She asked, and I could see how her face fell, and without saying another word, my in-laws disappeared in front of me, and I followed them to our chamber. I quickly walked towards the bed, and I picked up our son, who was sleeping on the far end of the bed, and my tears fell on my cheek as I brought him closer to me, we haven't decided on a name yet, and now I felt relieved Winona's mother is here.
