8 My feelings have changed

"yes, it's your fault."

Kija's words shocked Sakura, it's not like she was expecting any comforting words from him, but hearing it from Kija like this hurt so much. It was the first time Kija's words affected her.

Even though Sakura was on the ground with so many tears, she still looked very beautiful. Kija recognized that it was wrong to admire Sakura's beauty right now so he shook his head and looked at Sakura straight in the eye.

" If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have had to leave the house on such a cold day. And if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have fainted like this. And…."

"Please stop!" Sakura shouted as she couldn't hear it anymore. She put her hands on her ears cuddling herself together. She didn't want to hear anymore, but Kija completed as if he didn't hear her.

"And because of you I" his voice brightened "had the best day ever"

Sakura froze in her place trying to figure out if what she heard was an illusion or not. She looked at Kija who had a big smile on his face. She was speechless.

"You know" Kija put his finger on his chin as if he was deep in thoughts "it's my fault too. Didn't I break the promise? I said I won't overwork myself, but I forgot and in the end, I fainted." He gave her his big, warm smile "but I don't regret anything because today was really fun you know."

Sakura checked Kija's face trying to figure out if he was joking, but all she could see was a smiling face. Kija's smile was silent but it told Sakura so much. His smile was so warm that she felt she was facing the sun.

Kija was expecting Sakura to smile or at least feel happy but, much to his shock, she burst out in more tears. Sakura's tears fell on her soft cheeks like pure diamonds. She tried to stop them but she couldn't.

"w- what's wrong? Why are you crying? What should I do?" he looked at his mother, but she didn't seem worried at all, instead, she was happy. He was confused. Really, he couldn't understand a girl's feelings.

"Idiot" he looked at Sakura who just insulated him, but before he could feel offended, she said:

"it's because I am happy"

He looked more confused " do girls cry when they're happy?"

"Pfft" Sakura laughed a soft laugh. Even though Kija's words were a little mean at first, she could see that he no more hated her and that was all she needed to be able to smile a beautiful smile. Her teary eyes now looked like a deep ocean filled with sparkling tears that surrounding her cute little face. They were sparkling tears of happiness.

...

Kija didn't recognize when he fell asleep, but when he woke up the sun was shining brightly from the window and his fever was completely gone.

He tried to get up but something was holding him. He looked at his right hand which was being held by Sakura tightly as she slept laying her head on the bed. She seemed extremely exhausted.

"What is she doing here?" Kija wondered

" It seems you don't remember, but she was taking care of you all night" Kija looked at his father who was now standing at his room door. " here, take this medicine"

" it's strange. I thought she was an annoying, thick-headed girl, but today..."

His father let out a loud laugh " it's because you never tried understanding her."

Kija went silent for a second then a smile appeared on his face " maybe"

" Haha. It looks like the fever did benefit you"

Kija, who now had a slight blush on his face, averted his eyes but he met the sleeping Sakura. This time he couldn't hide his smile " my feelings towards Sakura has changed"

" Now drink your medicine"

"ok, but.." Kija stopped for a moment then he looked at Sakura who was still holding his hand "I can't use my right hand"

"Ah, right"

"Sakura, hey Sakura. Wake up." He called as he moved her a little. Sakura opened her eyes but didn't wake up completely.

"Look at your hair, it's all messy" Kija said between giggles.

"Kija is in a good mood since his fever went down" his father informed her.

Sakura raised her head immediately with excitement "really?"

"yeah, he's full of energy"

Sakura looked at Kija. His face was shining brightly and he seemed completely fine.

"Thank god" she said relieved "now good night" she didn't even wait a little as she returned to sleep.

A moment of silence filled the place as they tried to understand what happened then Kija shouted "SAKURA WAKE UP. MY HAND, LEAVE MY HAND. FATHER DO SOMETHING."

"she's so exhausted. We should let her rest. You have to be patient"

"NO WAY!"
