"Kael, it's me," answered the caller hesitantly because Kael's voice sounded so uncomfortable.
"Vla?" Kael replied softly and immediately changed the intonation of his voice. Kael took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions so that Vla wouldn't get hit by the sap. Kael didn't want to scold his own woman for emotions that weren't because of Vla at all.
"Kael, are you busy? Am I bothering you? What's with that tone of yours? Are you mad at me because I've been avoiding you lately?" asked Vla, her voice trembling with anxiety.
Kael sighed softly, "No, Vla. How could I be angry with you? Moreover your decision to avoid me for a while can't be said to be wrong, Vla. Blame me for not being able to prove it was not the result of my actions."
"I have faith in you, Kael. I'm sure you didn't do it with Kionna. I trust you completely. It's just … I also need time to prepare myself for the worst."
