14 Ohara Incident

(3rd Person POV)

Another year has passed since the creation of the Shichibukai system and Kuzan invited Dracule Mihawk. Kuzan continued to work and sadly for him, it was less and less work in the field itself. The terrible reality of paperwork caught up with him. But Kuzan was not a disciple of Garp for nothing. He used Garp's secret and most powerful technique ... the dip.

He would just leave the Marine base and let his subordinates deal with paperwork while he went and caught some pirates in the New World. After fighting against Shiki, there were only minor fights he had on the Grand Line. He was waiting for the day that he could finally find a reason to fight one of the three Emperors. But right now, there was none.

Another event was coming closer, the promotion of Kuzan to Admiral. It has been far too long, since he had become a Vice-Admiral and under normal circumstances, he would have long been promoted. But considering the plan of promoting Sengoku to the position of Fleet Admiral and then the logia trio to Admiral, Kuzan had to wait for Sakazuki and Borsalino basically.

However, now the time has come for Sakazuki and Kuzan to prove their 'loyalty' to the World Government and to 'justice'. Nico Olvia and her group of archaeologists were caught by the Marines because they studied the Poneglyphs, which the World Government outlawed the research of. All of the archaeologists but Olvia were killed while defending her. The Marines managed to look at the IDs of the dead crew of Olivia and found out that they were from Ohara.

Because of this, the World Government decided to destroy Ohara with a Buster Call. Admiral Sengoku ordered Vice Admiral Jaguar D. Saul to be one of the five Vice Admirals to lead the Buster Call, together with both Sakazuki and Kuzan, who were supposed to prove themselves.

However, Saul who had doubts, disagreed with him and, after talking to Nico Olivia, freed her from the Marines and deserted, causing Sengoku to call Kuzan to his office.

.

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Enter."

"Hey Sengoku, you called me.", Kuzan said as he entered Sengoku's office.

"Yes, Kuzan. Did you already hear about what happened?"

"I did."

"And what do you think about it?"

"What's there to think about an island, that has intelligent people on it who wish to increase their knowledge out of curiosity, that the World Government wants to destroy for no apparent reason?", Kuzan asks with a deadpanned voice.

"I see. You were ordered together with Sakazuki to be two of the Vice-Admirals who are supposed to go to Ohara and execute the Buster Call. You also have to make sure to capture Jaguar Saul and bring him back here.", Sengoku says and looks Kuzan deep into his eyes. Both know that this is a test for Kuzan to test him and see how he will react.

"*Sigh* ... I understand, Sengoku-san. If taht will be all?", Kuzan says and then leaves the office. He is not happy about this ... at all. The World Government dares to play with him and makes him hunt down his friend, Saul. And for what? Because he freed a woman, who did no crime whatsoever. She studied old relics, big deal.

Kuzan walked out of Marineford angry again, with clenched fists and jaw. Something would change in the coming days, he just didn't realise it yet.

.

- On Ohara -

"Is that right?", someone says from the Den Den Mushi.

"Yes, they deserve the death penalty. Since we seized the evidence, we'll carry out your orders."

"It cannot be helped. This is quite unfortunate; however, they violated the world's laws. We cannot overlook it."

"Stop the blatant superficial talk, Five Elder Stars.", Professor Clover says.

"Wha ...! Don't be rude! You're talking to the leaders of the world!"

"Is this Ohara's Professor Clover, the authority of archaeology?", the voice from the Den Den Mushi asks, "I know your name well since you've contributed to the world's culture. To think that someone of your calibre would take the wrong path ..."

"The past belongs to all mankind. No one has the right to stop one from wanting to know our unspoken history!", Clover says.

"Reading the Poneglyphs makes it possible to revive the ancient weapon, which puts the world in danger. Even if your research has the best of intentions, all it takes is for someone to come along and use your research."

"No matter what happened in the past, if humans created that history, we should accept it all. If we don't succumb to fear and learn all of history, we can take countermeasures no matter what happens.", Clover argues.

"That's an idealistic argument."

"Is that so? Isn't that reasoning just a convenient excuse for you? Out of what is still left to us, what interests us the most are the contents of the Poneglyphs, along with their reason for existing in the first place.

Why did the ancients take the trouble to inscribe the text on hard stones in order to pass it down to the future? They inscribed history on unbreakable stones and scattered them around the world. Is it not because they thought that their message would be eradicated if they wrote it on paper or in books?

In other words, it is the proof that those who left the Poneglyphs clearly had an enemy.", Clover said.

"What are you trying to say, Professor Clover?"

"If we assume that they were defeated by some enemy and so ceased to exist, this enemy must have remained in history from that point on. Coincidentally, just when the 'Blank Century' ended 800 years ago, the World Government was founded. If the current World Government was the 'enemy' of those that ceased to exist, one could think that the 'Blank Century' is an inconvenient history that was hushed up by the World Government.

By analyzing the ancient documents and some Poneglyphs, we eventually noticed the existence of a country. What the documents brought to light was the existence of a grand kingdom. Although it seems to have boasted much power in the past, the information on this country has obsessively been erased. They probably sensed they'd be defeated by the allied countries, later to become the World Government, and so inscribed all the truth on stones to pass it down to the future.

Indeed, those stones are the Ponelgyphs that remain to this very day.", Clover finishes his theory.

"I see. That's a bold hypothesis.", the Elder says.

"It's true that the ancient weapon would threaten the world. However, isn't it actually that the World Government is more threatened by people becoming aware of that kingdom's existence and ideology?", Clover asks.

"We still have to analyze what this threat is, but the name of this once-prosperous kingdom that holds the key to everything is ...", Clover continues and the moment I felt was coming arrived.

"Eliminate him!", the voice is heard over the Den Den Mushi.

*Bang*

The sound of a gunshot is heard and right after it the fall of Clover's body to the ground. The other scholars rushed to the Professor while the voice from the Den Den Mushi said its final pieces.

"Ohara has come to know too much. Give the attack signal."

(Kuzan POV)

I watch as the alarm is activated and the Marines shoot the Tree of Knowledge, setting it on fire. It is getting harder and harder to control myself. I never had a problem with self-control. The only other time I know that I got angry was when Shiki attacked Marineford, two years ago, but it is nothing against this.

I curse my large Kenbunshoku range as I see the scholars of Ohara desperately try to put out the fire and save the books by throwing them in a large lake.

Meanwhile, in the chaos, I sense a small girl running towards Nico Olvia. They hugged each other, telling me that this girl was probably her daughter. The reunion is short-lived as we relentlessly bombard the island with our warships. Then I see Saul come and try to save them, but Saul leaves only with the child.

I have my eyes close and a very dark expression as the canons start to aim at Saul, who thanks to his biology of a giant, stands out when he runs. One of the cannon balls hit Saul which makes him put down the girl and run towards the Warship.

"That's it! Firing this close? What if you had turn Robin?!", I hear Saul say. So the girl is called Robin. Saul runs towards the Warship and then picks the whole thing up. I must say, he is still strong, like I remember. It's actually how we bonded and became friends, by seeing who could lift more Warships at the time ... I won.

"I don't know what justice is in this situation, so I'll just protect my friend! Be prepared! If you name an enemy of me, I'll make you pay for it!", Saul says and then throws the Warship at another one, hitting it and breaking both of them.

.

I see the girl, Robin running towards the evacuation ship. But unlike what I expected, they didn't allow her to board the ship. On the contrary ... they call her a monster and make her go away. But some of them have a heart and are about to take her on board when another voice is heard.

"Evacuation ship! Don't let that brat come on board!", Spandine of the Cipher Pol says.

"What?"

"Alghtogh she's a child, she's an archaeologist. She's a target of our attack!"

"Chief Spandine! I-is that true?!"

"See? If we let her come on board, we'll be in danger!"

I take this chance to go to shore and meet Saul before he kills more Marines. These low-positioned Marines are only ignorant and fed with the lies of the World Government. I appear in front of him as he is about to attack another ship.

"Kuzan ...", Saul says as he sees me.

"Saul ... my friend. I'm sorry but I can't allow you to attack more Marines today. They aren't at fault for this. The higher-ups are.", I say very slowly and with a low voice.

"Kuzan! Can you take pride in this attack? Pull back! This isn't right! You should know it too! You who have such a strong sense of justice and a love for peace, should know that this is wrong! This is a warning! They are wiping out Ohara to make an example of it!", Saul says to me. His words cut deep and I know in my heart that he's right.

"I know all that, Saul. I know that it's wrong. So please ... allow me to help you. I'll make-", I start but then, see something with my future sight that makes my blood run cold.

"NO!", I say and wave my hand as fast as I can. Immediately a wall of ice shoots towards the evacuation ship. But in the microsecond, before the ice wall can block the ship, the magma attacks hit the ship and make it explode.

*BOOM*

...

"If we're gonna do it, we'll do it thoroughly. If even a single scholar is hiding on that ship by some chance, the sacrifices made in this operation will all be in vain.", I hear Sakazuki's voice and then ... something inside me ... just snaps.

"AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!"

*VVVVVRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM*

The most powerful wave of Haoshoku I have ever produced crashes on all of Ohara. I manage to keep it away from both Saul and Robin, but everyone else gets knocked out.

...

Meanwhile, I have murder my eyes. This should have never happened.

"Congratulations, World Government. You made me mad. Now we have a problem. A big one."

"K-Kuzan ... wh-what did you ... do?", Saul manages to say. I look at him and don't say anything for a moment. I can sense that most of the Oharans are dead. I then decide on what to do and speak to Saul.

"Go into hiding Saul. Make sure to live, ok?", I say and then I wave my hand in front of me. As I do so, the temperature drops tremendously and everything freezes. The entire island .... everything turns to ice. The warm and rather tropical island becomes a winter wonderland, full of death.

Everyone is frozen. Everything and every one is frozen in ice. But this hasn't been done without purpose. I have to be smart about this now. I can't just go ahead and attack the Marines. I don't want to kill or fight Marines. Not everyone is like Sakazuki.

It's the World Government that has earned my ire and will get my full hate. There are hidden dangers and powerhouses in the World Government. I will need more time to gather like-minded people before confronting them and exposing their atrocities.

.

I walk towards where the Cipher Pol agents are located. I jump on their ship and I look down on them and then ... I freeze them entirely.

*Crack*

Cracks start to appear and then ... they fall into hundreds of thousands of pieces, disappearing with the wind. They saw Robin, so they have to die, otherwise, the truth would be known and my work will be for nought...
