C1-19

Inside the orphanage, Arthur was in his bed.

He was sent back home 3 days ago but he couldn't move much because of his injuries, he had a hard time just to walk.

Right now, he just emotionlessly looking at the ceiling.

A lot of things happened after the event.

After he was treated, the Mentor came to him and gave him something that every low-rank Knight dreamed to have.

Knight Sword

The Sword wasn't anything special, the material to make one was Iron and it only slightly better than a normal sword when came to the decoration.

Its value lined on the honor. It was the highest honor for a knight for bravery and sacrifice.

But it was pure bullshit.

What honor? What sacrifice?

They gave the sword to him after he was KICKED out of the Knight Corp.

It was a fcking consolation gift and he was kicked out by the Mentors. Almost all the Mentors agreed to kick him out for harming a Noble.

The Sword was just something to cover their shady decision. Even his friends had no choice in this and had to shut up.

"So much for Knight United in arms" He thought

He was broken, his dream to become a Knight was shattered into pieces. He didn't want to live anymore.

But there was always something that held us back from that deep and black void.

The only reason he wanted to stay alive was Mother.

When he was sent back to his house, he was having a fever that lasted for 2 days straight.

(Fever was considered dangerous to an extent at medieval ages)

Mother took care of him and asked for local doctors to help. She didn't sleep for 2 days and sat beside him, prayed to the gods and applied medicines.

Eventually, his fever went down on the third day. She was relieved and thanked the gods for protecting him.

But he still had fever and they were out of medicine so instead of resting, Mother went out and wanted to buy more.

The love that he was given by Mother was the reason why he still alive to this day.

"I wonder when will she come back, it has been a very long time" He calculated the time she had left as he saw the sun position from the window next to his bed.

Then he was interrupted by door knocking sounds.

"Who might that be" He thought.

Without anyone at home except for a sick man, he decided to ignore it.

But the knocking went to banging the door and someone called him by his name.

It was a man voice and he sounded very urgent.

"Arthur, I know you are in there. Come out right now, the old nun from your orphanage is in trouble"

When he heard that, he immediately got out of bed. Took a wooden stick to support himself, he was still weak to walk on his own.

"What kind of trouble can she got herself into" He walked as fast he as he could.

Despite being a sick man and needed a stick to walk, he still got to the door less than a minute.

"Arthur, right? We have to go now, we don't have much time" It was a skinny man with ragged clothes, seem like a beggar.

He didn't know the man but he was worried about Mother so he followed.

It wasn't long until they reached the place. It was a town square and it was now full of people.

They were focused on the high platform so Arthur also looked at the direction, it was at that moment his heart almost stopped.

"We are here to cleanse the devil out of this world" A middle age in the shiny armor spoke on the platform.

It was a Knight Mentor that he knew, his name was Gorn. All Arthur knew that the guy wasn't showing up much in the training because he was busy serving the Nobles.

Next to Gorn was the old nun and she was tied to a pole. Her eyes were lifeless as if she was already dead.

"We Knights had caught this Witch performed a blood sacrifice" Gorn pointed the sword at the old nun.

Some people started curing at her but they looked like beggars, most people didn't say anything and gritted their teeth.

Seeing Mother being accused of something that she didn't do, Arthur was about to speak up but suddenly someone held him back and covered his mouth.

He tried to fight back but it was useless, the guy that held him was way stronger than him.

He looked around and found 2 more men that they were way bigger than him but there was something that he noticed, they were Noble son's bodyguards.

What he saw next was the man that led him here and the Noble son from 3 days ago, the noble then gave a gold coin to the man and the man walked away while laughing.

"Thanks to you, my dad has to pay a large sum of coins to stick my fingers back and then I got a pretty hard beating from him" The noble walked to Arthur and arrogantly looking down on him.

"After that, I decided to come for your head but your Knight Corp kicked you out and gave you Sword of Honor, so I couldn't aim for you anymore because of that stupid sword"

"With that Sword, even Noble would have to avoid offending those who had it...But you are just a man without any status. Even if you have the sword, no one will consider to hear you at all"

"Then I think, if I can not aim at you then I just have to aim for your loved ones and it seems like the old hag is the only one you have left" The noble got out of the way and let him saw the old nun.

"Let this burn into your eyes. This is the consequence of offending me. If you just let me hit you more at that time, she wouldn't be here today..." He smirked.

Arthur couldn't speak anything and desperately looking at the platform. He started crying as he saw she just stand there and didn't say anything.

"In the name of The Sun King, you shall be executed for the crime and your soul forever be tormented in Hell. Let the people witness this and judge you for eternity" Gorn took out his sword.

Arthur fought back and tried to escape but he was powerless as he only could watch the execution began.

As Gorn raised his sword and ready, the old nun slowly lifted her head up and looked at the crowd.

Arthur looked at her with teary eyes, saw her lifting up her head and looked at him. He was happy yet felt tremendous guilt.

She smiled and used her mouth to say something.

He knew what she was saying and fought back harder than before, he tried to bite but the guard didn't let him go.

"Begone you Devil" Gorn slashed his sword down.

.....

And with that end, Arthur looked at the headless body on the Platform.

The guard let go of him after that, he didn't say or do anything. He just staring and slowly walked to the platform.

"As an apology, I will tell you this. I told her that you would die for offending me but she could replace you...She bravely took the offer, dumb old hag sacrificed for you. I am kind of jealous" The noble laughed as he and the guards left the place (It was a very loud place and he spoke loud enough for only Arthur to hear)

When he came near enough, he just stood there and tears just dripping down almost endlessly.

"Don't Cry, My Little Boy"

That was the message she gave him before she was killed.

It was the title of a song that he and she once sang when he was young. It was a very short and funny song, it was made by her to celebrate his 6th birthday.

The people around him knew about the nun and Arthur but they also knew there was a Noble behind this so they couldn't do anything.

Looking at Arthur, a young man crying. They didn't say anything and left the place. This was very normal, a commoner offended a Noble and got punished.

For some reasons, the Knights didn't take the body away and let it there. Maybe they also knew what was going on and pity the young man.

When there was no one left except for Arthur, he started saying under his breath.

"Cause I Will Be With You All The Way

So let us finish the song and dance until we drop our pant"

She died with a smile on her face.
