The Portable Dungeon

Drake, a game developer, after finally finishing creating his new game called "Dungeons and Mayhem", gets sucked into a parallel world where swords and magic rule the continent, as well as where various monsters and dangerous creatures roam about. The only forgiving thing is that he was transported with a benefit where he doesn't know left to right, and that is the power to view and manipulate the status! Of a dungeon of course. ~ First Person POV ~

After getting a good's night rest, I found myself being tightly hugged by a sleeping Mari. I lightly patted her head and slowly and carefully got out from the bed in order not to wake her up.

Once I was able to escape her iron clutches, I went downstairs and bought some food using MP, two servings naturally. I ate mine and put Mari's share on the table. Before I got out the dungeon however, I didn't forget to put a note on the table inside the bedroom saying that her food was on the table.

I also gave her a kiss on the forehead before heading out.

"See you later Mari…"

I bid the sleeping Mari goodbye and went out the dungeon to continue finding a spot where I can place my main <Dungeon Portal>.

"It's bright…"

The shining sun greeted my eyes as I set foot on the grassy ground. A huge rock was located just behind me, with a <Dungeon Portal> just between the gaps. I closed the <Dungeon Portal> and headed on my way.

"By noon, I'll have to find a place, since later I'll need to show my face back at the Guild…"

I quickened my pace. Judging by the position of the sun (Gren's standard) it is about 8:00 AM. So I have 4 hours just to find a spot.

"This might not be so hard…"

An endless sea of trees, nature everywhere with monsters roaming around, finding a secluded place in this area might not be so hard. I deluded myself with that way thinking. It was a huge mistake.

"Damn it!"

An hour later of walking through the dense forest, I was assaulted for the umpteenth time by a pack of goblins. Although they do not warrant my attention too much since they do not pose a threat to my life, they are incredibly annoying, delaying my search for a good spot for my <Dungeon Portal>.

"Go to hell!!"

I swung my shovel towards the closest goblin wielding a rusty club. It broke its skull and brain matter flew out. Its goblin companions became shocked for moment, resulting in them also losing their lives.

After a quick massacre of a couple of goblins, I cut of their right ears for proof of subjugation.

"Sheesh… If this keeps up, I might not be able to find a good spot before noon…"

Right now, finding a good spot is more important than leveling my dungeon. It is because the spot I am looking for is a place where no humans might venture into, and monsters are overflowing so they might stumble upon my dungeon.

Doing so can allow me to farm Dungeon Exp and MP while I am not there to supervise it.

"Gaaahhhh…"

"What, you're still alive?"

I brought my shovel high and slammed it onto the near-dead goblin.

Just then, I heard a familiar sound of a bell ringing and a holographic window appeared in front of me.

"I leveled up?"

When I checked the changes, nothing major changed so I just closed the status window. After I did that, I continued on trying to find a suitable place where I can place my <Dungeon Portal>.

After about two hours of fighting and searching I finally found a good spot. In the process of doing so, I leveled up 2 more times from killing goblins, wolves, and rabbits.

Again, since there were no major changes, I just closed the status window after getting good peek. Although I can feel minute changes in my strength, right now I can't seem to think that it might have a major impact against an enemy. Maybe if my stats go higher, but right now, all I can see is me before having the strength to pulverize a cement block with my fist, but now having the strength to pulverize a 5% bigger cement block with my fist. My speed is no different.

Anyway, I should be focusing on the prize I have before my eyes. It was a lake spanning about 500 meters in width and 700 meters in length. Basically, it was a huge lake.

"Maybe this spot can attract more monsters…"

Since monsters require water to live like living organisms, all of them need water to survive. And this place is filled to the brim with water.

"Now if some monsters just get sidetracked and get drawn in to my dungeon…"

I can have an auto farming dungeon.

"Hahaha!"

I stifled up a laugh and proceeded to place a <Dungeon Portal> nearby. I placed it by a huge rock next to the lake. And now, that rock looks like a goddamned cave…

"… Is there any way to make it look less conspicuous?"

Just then, I remembered one of the tabs in the <Dungeon Menu>.

"That's right! If I use the <Customization> tab, then---"

Right after I was about to exclaim my realizations, the earth shook. When I looked behind me for a moment, I saw a huge bear spanning about 3 meters in height, but the 3 meters isn't when the bear was standing, it was when it was still crawling.

"Holy fu---"

"GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAARRRRRRRR!!!!"

When it saw me, it roared an intense roar! The surroundings shook while the trees close to the bear swayed left and right due to the vibration. Some even fell down and landed on an unlucky Horned Rabbit.

"... I'm out…"

I quickly escaped into my dungeon through the <Dungeon Portal> by the rock. And not surprising enough, the bear followed me into the portal.

"… It really did follow me…"

But too bad for it, I was immediately sent to the boss room, while it was sent to the first floor of my dungeon.

"Well, looks like a main course of EXP is heading my way. My gratitude to the chef!"

Another Dungeon Defense was about to start!
