1 Cathy's Story

When George made an official proposal to Cathy, the latter thought it was all a joke! I mean how could George really propose to her even after knowing pretty well that she did not have functional uterus?

She had always been open enough to every suiter who made an advancement towards her and this had always been the reason to drive them away at such a speed that lighting would not beat them in a speed contest. She had always noted in her notebook (a valuable she ranked so high as it reminded her of her late mother who gave it to her as a gift during her eighteenth birthday) each time a man approached over relationship matters. If her memory served her right, George was the tenth man within a period of half a year. She had really wanted to start a family even if without kids, at least that was her mother's last prayers for her before she called it quits with life. Basically, she been involved in a grisly road accident at the age of twelve. When she was examined by a medical doctor, it was discovered that her uterus had been affected. Several surgeries were done but none succeeded until one Dr. Thompson advised them on removing the uterus as it would complicate her health the more. As painful as it is, it had to be done.

During the time when they were trying their luck on different medical practioners, they had to part with fortune as the treatment was way too costly. Her mother sold most of the family valuables after the depletion of the family savings. By the time she was staying (her mother) she knew for sure she had left Cathy with nothing but the wrath of this heartless and unforgiving world. As for her dad, Cathy never had an opportunity to set an eye on him. She didn't know whether he was tall, short, athletic, puffy or skinny although her mother had always told her a lot about him, she wasn't convinced by the tales after all.

Anyway, she had accepted over time that her father had perished in a road accident as her mother had made her understand.
