127 The Charity Ball (4)

Once midnight struck and we left the ball, the car ride back was silent, tense, and uncomfortable. Now that I had my phone with me, I busied myself by punching Rafael's contact information in and saving it for Monday. Then, I shot Hugo a quick text.

Jason was ignoring me, obviously, busy on his phone again doing god knows what. I bit my lip, looking down at my hands as we passed a street light and debating whether or not I should voice what my thoughts were.

The idea had been fluttering around inside my mind for a few weeks now, but my selfishness hadn't allowed me to proceed and make it official. Now, after what I saw tonight, I reached a solid conclusion, and surprisingly it didn't hurt as much as I thought it did. But that was just the initial reaction. I knew it was going to get worse as it went on. It was time to be completely honest and give him an out.

With a deep breath, my resolve to explain what was happening to me strengthened.
