40 Assassins?

-------She trailed off as her head turned to the side. Robyn followed her gaze and her eyes narrowed. -----------

(Robyn) "Do you think they can handle it?"

Jasmine raised an eyebrow.

(Jasmine) "Now who's the irresponsible one? Elena and Rose aren't to leave from their posts, so I have to handle this."

(Robyn) "Can I come? I feel like a third wheel here."

Jasmine laughed as she said,

(Jasmine) "James is probably going to be there too."

Robyn raised her eyebrows.

(Robyn) "So basically no matter what I do I'm going to be a third wheel?"

Jasmine chuckled as she said,

(Jasmine) "Didn't you resign yourself to that fate a long time ago?"

Robyn glared at Jasmine.

(Robyn) "That's when I thought I had Lil to accompany me."

Jasmine laughed as she said,

(Jasmine) "That's looking more and more unlikely as time passes."

Robyn simply raised an eyebrow but didn't comment on Jasmine's statement.

(Jasmine) "We should go."

Robyn nodded and shouted to her sister and Liz,

(Robyn) "Ruby, Liz, we're going to deal with something, if you want to come, you're free to."

At that, Robyn and Jasmine both disappeared from their spots.

*

(Liz) "Do you wanna go?"

Ruby grinned.

(Ruby) "You know I'm always up for a fight. But you're not going."

Liz raised an eyebrow.

(Liz) "…Why?"

Ruby simply stated,

(Ruby) "You're still hurt from our fight and I don't want you there."

Liz frowned but didn't attempt to argue with her, knowing that once Ruby made up her mind on something, nothing could change it. Plus, there was also the fact that she had agreed to do whatever Ruby wanted for the week after she lost that match.

(Liz) "Fine."

Liz reached out and grabbed Ruby's shirt, pulling her towards her and pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek. When she had done so, she let go of Ruby's shirt, her face burning. Ruby's expression matched hers, but she simply leaned towards Liz and did the same, then whispered in her ear,

(Ruby) "I'll come back safe. I promise."

Liz smiled and nodded.

(Liz) "You'd better."

Ruby smirked and asked,

(Ruby) "Or what?"

Liz's face turned red again as she simply turned away and disappeared, teleporting back to her room. Ruby chuckled under her breath and teleported as well, but to where her older sister and Jasmine had gone to.

*

(Robyn) "Ruby, you're here. And Liz…?"

Ruby shook her head and Robyn immediately understood.

(Robyn) "Alright. I'm still waiting for Jasmine and James to get back to me with the final number, but it seems there are at least fifteen."

James had met up with the two girls, then he and Jasmine had gone to scout out their enemies.

(Ruby) "Level?"

Robyn shook her head.

(Robyn) "Shouldn't prove a problem for us, and Lil's Special Elites. The Elites would have more trouble but should be able to take them on if they pair up."

Ruby shook her head.

(Ruby) "How are they that powerful? All assassins?"

Robyn shook her head.

(Robyn) "As far as I'm aware, there's at least one powerful mage within their ranks."

(Ruby) "How did they get in?"

Robyn opened her mouth to reply when she got cut off by Lillian mind-linking the two of them:

(Lillian, through mind-link, to Robyn and Ruby) "They were let in by one of the guards, who has been apprehended by Jasmine now. Rose is on the way to you at this moment. Call me if you need assistance."

Robyn and Ruby both sent a short message to Lillian, indicating that they had received the message.

(Robyn) "Ready to deal with some intruders?"

Ruby gave her a look.

(Ruby) "You know, technically we don't belong here either."

Robyn shrugged.

(Robyn) "Technicality."

Ruby rolled her eyes but got ready to fight.

*

Metal bracers appeared on her arms. The patterns on it were black and orange, the colours of their Tribe. While the patterns on Ruby's bracers were simple, there was this sharpness to it that fit the air Ruby was now giving out. With a grin on her face, she turned to Robyn, who now had swords strapped to her hips, one shorter than the other. Both had the same colour scheme as Ruby's bracers, although the patterns were more intricate than Ruby's. But one thing they both had in common was the animal: A falcon, hidden in the designs.

(Jasmine) "I hope you two are ready to engage. There are thirty of them. I think they came here knowing that the King and Queen are here, along with the fact that Lil is here."

Jasmine landed next to them along with Jasmine slightly behind her, then they noticed Rose running towards them and waited for her to arrive.

They were standing on top of one of the buildings in the outer area, which meant that Rose was jumping over the buildings to get to them. When she had reached them, Rose spoke before anyone else could:

(Rose) "Chief has ordered me to follow your instructions until the fight is over, Chief Adkin."

Robyn nodded and continued to survey the situation, pin-pointing every single one of their enemies before sending their aura signatures to the rest of them.

Everyone has a unique aura signature, and the ability to sense them without being in contact with them first was something that most had to hone and spend years training. However, Robyn had simply used her skills to see this, and this would give them an advantage.

(Jasmine) "Why are there thirty-one aura signatures?"

Robyn's eyes narrowed.

(Robyn) "I simply set it to detect any who had bad intentions against the King and Queen, or Lillian and Liana."

(Jasmine) "Then we will attack that one too."

The rest nodded and looked to Robyn for further orders.

(Robyn) "We will attack all of them, each Special Elite or higher of Lillian's men are allowed to take them one-on-one, but anyone of lower power must go with someone else."

Robyn was addressing the group of Lillian's soldiers that had sensed the danger or sensed something was up by the way they were acting and were more than willing to help.

(Robyn) "Try to apprehend as many as possible but kill if and when you need to."

Again, all the heads nodded, finding Robyn's plan doable and reasonable.

(Robyn) "Okay, I'm going to open a general mind-link so we can all talk to each other if we need to. However, please only use it when you need to inform us of something or you're asking something. Don't use it and risk distracting the others."

They all nodded again, and Robyn performed the spell with practiced ease, then spoke again.

(Robyn) "Alright. You may head out now, but when you encounter an enemy and choose to engage, tell the others so they'll know not to go there. If you need help, don't be afraid to request for it."

The heads nodded again, then there were salutes before the soldiers dispersed.

(Robyn) "Rose, could you keep a look out from above to see if everything is going well?"

She knew that Rose had mastered flying spells, wind spells, along with levitating spells, and thus was the best candidate for this job. Rose nodded and jumped upwards, activating spells that allowed her to hover in mid-air, along with the ability to move around while in the air. Another spell allowed her to zoom in and hear at close range without actually moving.

*

Robyn saw Rose follow her orders without hesitation and was again in awe at Lillian and the way she trained her soldiers. What Robyn didn't know was that Lillian never trained them to react like that, as there was never a need to. All the soldiers that Lillian had trained already did it naturally. Of course, this could be due to the fact that when Lillian trained them, the aura she gave out was almost ten times stronger than usual to get them used to being around strong auras. Although every single one of their soldiers was aware that they had never encountered Lillian's aura in its' pure form, they were already terrified if her aura got stronger during training. After that, it was simply ingrained in their brains that they would follow instructions without question, although they would listen to Lillian and Lillian alone, and now Rose obeyed Robyn since she was ordered by Lillian to obey her orders.

(Robyn) "Jasmine, James, Ruby, we should go now as well."

Jasmine and James nodded, then ran off towards the walls, where there was a relatively strong aura signature.

(Robyn) "Ruby, be careful. Call for help if you need to. You don't want to disappoint Liz, now do you?"

Ruby nodded.

(Ruby) "I'll be careful sis. You should too. Although I'm not going to say who it is that you'll disappoint just yet."

And with that, Ruby left as well, leaving Robyn stumped, wondering who and what Ruby was talking about. Eventually she pushed it to the back of her mind and joined the fight as well, immediately pinpointing the nearest aura signature which hadn't been engaged by any of the others yet.

*

Meanwhile…

Lillian was still discussing terms with King Zander and Kristen when she felt the assassins start to enter the walls.

(Lillian's thoughts) 'They should be able to handle it. Robyn and Ruby are here, as are many of my guards.'

She decided not to go out and instead continued to listen to King Zander and Kristen talk.

(King Zander) "If we do this, there is too much risk involved."

(Kristen) "There are a few other options, but the risk is probably just as high."

King Zander sighed, and both of them turned to Lillian, who had simply leant back against her chair and had closed her eyes.

(King Zander) "Chief Lillian, what do you think of this?"

(Lillian) "Why don't you ask your daughter?"

Liana's eyes widened as all eyes turned to her. Well, all eyes except the two that belonged to Lillian, as she still had her eyes closed.

Liana thought for a while then suggested something that both King Zander and Kristen nodded to. She had been listening to the conversation but was actually quite lost as to what many of their things meant. However, she was still confident enough to give her idea.

(King Zander) "This is a wonderful idea, Princess."

Kristen nodded her approval, but they still continued to discuss it afterwards.

*

While they were discussing, Liana activated her mind-link to Lillian.

(Liana, through mind-link, to Lillian) "Why do I feel foreign people within the tribes' walls? I'm sure my mother is also aware of this."

(Lillian, through mind-link, to Liana) "Assassins have snuck in with the help of one of my soldiers turned traitor, but apparently he didn't tell them everything as they only sent relatively low powered people to come and attack us."

(Liana, through mind-link, to Lillian) Your standards are too high. It's possible that they sent some of their best men, which is sad, since we'll either kill all of them or take them prisoner."

Liana had been there enough days to be aware of the customs that the Tribe had, especially since it was similar to what she was brought up with.

(Lillian, through mind-link, to Liana) "Well, they have to know that the Loyal Eagle Clan is not one to be messed with."

Liana nodded, making her mother look at her with a weird look on her face. Liana smiled sheepishly as a faint blush rose to her cheeks.

*

Back to the fighting the assassins…

Robyn had easily knocked out the man she had engaged and cast a binding spell on him. She moved on to the next one closest to her. When she got there, there were already two people already fighting him. When Robyn noticed that neither of them were Elites, she stepped in and offered her help, which they gratefully accepted. After knocking out this one as well, Robyn teleported the two of them to their medical hall and told them to stay there until it was safe.

They simply nodded, but Robyn could feel their disappointment at not being able to fight longer, even without a skill to tell a person's emotions.

Robyn teleported back close to two stronger aura signatures. When she found it, she found that these two, a male and a female, were actually stronger than the two she had already knocked out.

The guy lunged at her and she rolled out of the way, drawing her swords in the process. She stood up and blocked the next attack, counterattacking, but being forced backwards by the girl. She lunged at Robyn, but changed her trajectory half-way, making it almost impossible for Robyn to dodge, however, what Robyn did next shocked everyone. She jumped upwards, landing on the back of the female assassin, then kicked off and attacked the male one. The guy dodged her, thinking he knew what was going to happen, but what he didn't expect to happen was Robyn's sword bending and striking him in the stomach. Robyn pulled her sword out and said softly,

(Robyn) "Oops. Well, I guess we still have one?"

At this, she places the same binding spell as earlier on the female assassin then leaves the place to go look for someone else to fight.
