"Hahh.. I'm tired," Jade lay down with plop on the bed with her hair spread out and is looking at the ceiling smiling.
It's been a month since she got here to this new country and since then she has toured and visited every nook and cranny of this massive campus. Making her lose her way multiple times. If not for her worn out map she would've never found her way back to her dorm.
And just today she went out to go sightseeing around the city to familiarize herself. Jade had never felt freedom like this before. She feels like a new person for the first time and completely at ease at all the changes that's happening around her.
Finally she's where she's supposed to be, away from darkness and loneliness that consumes her on a daily basis. Now, it's all about finding her way back again, and back to accepting herself.
And since school is going to start soon, she's been taking advantage of her free time to go exploring and enjoying herself. Getting to know the locals and trying different foods was a great pastime to her and since she's going to be staying till she graduates she might as well enjoy it.
"I'm going to be busy soon. So, let me just savor this feeling of freedom." Jade smiles while she closes her eyes hoping to take a nap before–
BANG!
The door was flung open so wide and hard that Jade immediately thought the door was broken from the impact. And there's only one person in the whole wide world that she knew that would do something like this.
'Dammit! Now, I really have to pay for all this damage.'
She opened her eyes dryly and exhaustedly looked up to her best friend that was charging at her like an angry bull ready to mull her.
"Jade!"
'Ugh. Here we go.'
If there is something she probably regretted coming here for it's because of her new roommate and "best friend" Angela. Jade met Angela the first day she got here, she was putting her clothes away in the closet when the exact same thing happened.
The door was opened so roughly that it seemed like a tornado just came inside the dorm room. Jade was left stunned and unable to speak at first wondering who in the world would do something like that. Then she saw how the door was crooked by the impact.
And that's when Jade first saw her. Angela is very petite compared to Jade's height which is 5'6, and Angela is probably around 4'11. It makes her wonder how can such a small person flung the door open like that.
"Angela! you can't keep opening the door like that or it will break soon! I'm already preparing to call the school dean to ask for assistance and pay for the charges that we might have!" Jade frowns at her friend.
"Jade! Jade! you wouldn't believe what I just saw!" Angela squealed excitedly and clasped both her hands together with a dreamy look on her big doe eyes. If Jade looked closely enough she would probably see hearts in them.
Jade sighs, "Now, what?" she said as she arranged herself on the bed to get a comfy spot. Her nap is totally not gonna happen now thanks to her so-called friend, she thought poutily.
"Well, I saw a lot of cute guys while I was in the cafeteria! And OMGGGG I feel like I'm going to faint!" Angela said while fanning herself and even swayed to the desk to catch herself falling dramatically.
Jade rolled her eyes.
"Angela you skank, that's not the reason why we came here to this school. We came here to be Physicians, remember? meaning doctors? You know, saving lives?" Jade said to her dryly, can't believe she's hearing this nonsense right now when all she wants to do is take a little nap.
"Hmp! You always kill the fun Jade! this is how I know you're going to be an old hag for the rest of your life!" Angela said to her while crossing her arms.
Angela Arnold-Smith is also studying Medicine like her. She is very bright and you can tell has a good future ahead of her. Angela also is very kind to me, she is the first person that I can actually call a friend. She fully accepted me for who I am and didn't judge how I look or where I came from.
Jade sighs. Maybe that's why I put up with her weirdness.
Although it seems like she was one of those people who is being forced by their parents to study something they don't want and rather has a different goal in life. I can tell that she's forcing herself to study every time. Besides of course chasing after guys, the only talent Jade know's of so far.
As she is observing her friend. Angela is actually quite pretty. In fact when Jade saw her for the first time she was actually stunned. She had never seen someone with platinum blonde hair before, and Angela has this long and wavy hair that goes with it.
She also has these big green eyes that are way too big on her small face, and surprisingly enough her small frame also compliments her whole appearance. Making her look like tinkerbell from Peter pan.
Sometimes Jade wonders why nobody's courting her friend yet when she's obviously good-looking and cute. Any guy their age would love to be Angela's boyfriend.
Now, if Angela would somehow know Jade's thoughts right now, she would cry in anger. To her Jade is this cold goddess that is unapproachable. If Angela is a flower then Jade would be the sun. Gracing her with its rays of sunshine.
That's how big the difference is between them. Even though Jade came from a mixed race, when you see her for the first time then you would know. You can never erase Jade's face from your mind the moment you see her.
Jade has this shiny caramel hair, white milky skin, and an eye shaped that is perfectly slanted and within them is these beautiful clear blue eyes that reflect the sky when the sun hits them.
Her unique beauty astounds Angela every time. Jade is like a goddess gracing her presence to the mundane world. Her fragility and aloofness also adds to her allure.
Sometimes Angela wished she is also a mixed race instead so she can also look this beautiful.
Jade doesn't know this but everytime they go out guys would always stare at her, their eyes following her movements with lust filled eyes until Angela thinks they would break their necks. And Angela can't blame them, in fact she also wants Jade for herself!
"Angela, I'm not killing the fun here, okay? I'm just not interested in those things, at least not right now" Jade said frustratingly.
"Whatever.. This is why you're still a virgin," Angela muttered with her head down as if trying to muffle her words.
Jade snapped her head and narrowed her eyes at her. Angela immediately changed the subject with a cheeky smile.
"Hey! I saw this post earlier on one of the boards in the hallway," she instantly took out a piece of paper and showed it to Jade.
IF YOU ARE AN ASPIRING MED STUDENT AND WOULD LIKE TO EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE THEN GO TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY TO EXPERIENCE UNIQUE CULTURAL WAY OF HEALING HUMAN BODY.
THIS IS THE COUNTRY THAT YOU CAN CHOOSE
INDIA, CAMBODIA, GREECE, FRANCE, EGYPT...
As Jade was finishing reading, clearly interested about the idea of going to another country. However, the moment she saw the word Egypt, automatically she felt like there's an invincible lightning enveloping her whole body, electrocuting every nerve, and triggering something on her mind.
All of a sudden everything got eerily quiet with only buzzing sounds filling her eardrums and her head pounding as if someone just hammered her head.
'What is going on?'
Jade thought as she yelped in pain and immediately clutched her head.
"Earth to Jade!" Angela said, looking at her worriedly.
Jade jolted and looked at Angela in a daze. For a moment there she thought it was all imagination, but the lingering headache confirms that it was not.
"Are you okay?" Angela asked as she looked at Jade's pale face.
"Uhh.. I'm fine. I just got a headache probably from not eating breakfast," Jade said while still clutching her throbbing head hoping to minimize the pressure.
"Oh, then how about we eat something first? It'll get rid of your headache and then we can talk about this trip!" Angela said while clasping Jade arm to lead her outside.
Jade looked back at the paper on the floor, shook her head and left.
'I'm imagining things. Right, it's all in my head."
