<- "I got you... come on, easy. Nice and slow"
Anna Marie held up an injured girl who had twisted her ankle and looked like she managed to stay awake from her concoction as she tried running from the chaos. All students were immensed in both shock and fear as shadowy figures lurked around the school premises at the command of two god-like beings who held the most esteem.
Her pace slowing down as she searched around for her other friend. Since the whole brawl began, she had seen no sign of Kai.
"I can't find her Nathan", she called out to her friend who was right behind her.
The right words just about hung in his throat as he was sure it was the fault of their 'new friend'.
Anna found a safe corner as she laid the injured girl to rest. Shrieks of untamed creatures echoed along the halls as screams of frightened students followed suite.
Her best friend now entered the corner , bending over while letting out profused pants then seeing the already unconscious girl his friend had managed to help.
She saw the knowing look in his eyes. The one that said he wasn't hallucinating and this wasn't from a fairy tale. The look that also said he had drawn a conclusion from all that was going on.
"You don't think_?", She asked, her mind biting at her, making her feel a bit crazy that his theories were maybe true and that she was running out of believable options.
Nathan replied with a shrug, not wanting to rub it in as he had noticed the hurt in her blues.
"It can't be. All this... its just crazy", tears welling up her eyes as she searched her thoughts for answers.
"Kai can't possibly be the cause of all of this. She's like evreryone of us. Human... right?", she remained persistent. Anna had just become very good friends with her. She had insisted on tagging along for her convention willingly, their movie outing was a huge success and she had already introduced her to her other friends (under close supervision via that one they once called 'Merlin') and they were all headed for lunch this afternoon.
Well, before Dark and lifeless showed up...
"We need to find her", she told Nathaniel.
"What?!..No, its too dangerous"
"I want to know Nathan. I have gotten attached to so many heartless and unforgivable people in my life. Some who continuously lie to my face, some who use me only to their advantage. While some... who just happen to stop caring and ignore whatsoever we had been through together", he knew that last one well.
"But not this time. She's different. I may have just known her these past couple of weeks but it seems like I have for years. She understands Nathan, she really does. And I want to make sure I understand too... Now come on". She called to him as she turned out of the corner. Stopping her was inevitable, but her safety was his priority.
In no time, he ran to her and joined her in the hunt. ->
"We found you. Different like Anna had said, but none like we had ever seen before"
<- "Get her out of here", Kai yelled to Nathaniel as he held on to Anna for dear life. She had been hit, blood thrinkling from her arm to the whites of her T-shirt.
They had both ran into a swarm of shadows that once surrounded her and had dispersed when a sudden burst of energy emerged from their captive.
Miniacal cackling filled the air as the two commandants floated above the scene.
"We hope you'll be joining us soon chosen", the one on the right laughed before the other activated some kind of purple swirling circle as they both stepped through. ->
"You saved us that day. And as a thank you, I got on your last nerve"
<- "And what's this thing?, some kind of magical homing beacon". Nathaniel wasn't the kind to believe in such antics, but when he had seen it for himself, from the not so recent eye change, to the other abilities he found she could do. He immediately saw her as a threat and was now protective of his friend's hurt and her arm.
He caught sight of the hue in her eyes as she tried to reach for the necklace he had taken when she fell unconscious after she managed to get rid of the former nuisance.
"What are you?", he asked again.
"I'm that person who is going to rip what's left of your pride if you do not give me back my necklace", she growled.
The boy was a lot taller than her, she would give him that .. But he's nervousness stood taller. He was determined to get to the bottom and draw a few meanings from this.
"Look, I don't know you that much, and you... judging from the entire time we hung out together obviously don't like me at all. Your friend on the hand needs your help. So i advice you stick to what you find of uptmost importance and give me back my necklace", she was a tard frustrated now.
He was urged to crack her. Curiosity clawed at him as he examined the strange looking necklace he had taken from her.
"You mean this necklace?", he asked playfully.
He was willng to try the worst if it meant he got answers. Anna would thank him later..
A low grumble escaped her lips as the her eyes returned to its hue, staying for a longer period before resorting to the greys he once (but still) admired.
Nathan watched the girl battle with her emotions. Her angered aura was all over the place as her eyes reverted back to its synthetic glare. Then returned to it's original color as she waited for him to return her property.
"It must be very important if you want it back so bad", he teased moving the necklace out of her reach again.
"Wouldn't you like to know", her glare as menacing as ever.
Taking steady steps towards him, he backed up till he felt the wall against his back.
"I want answers"
"And I want my necklace", she whispered so only he could hear the threat in her voice.
"A fair trade then. Your honesty for the necklace" , he offered.
Kai sighed at his stubborness. Backing up a bit, she huffed before folding her arms on her chest. Nathaniel stood his ground as he walked a bit forward so that he was almost toe to toe with their mysterious friend.
"What I am doesn't matter right now. Anna is seriously injured, and we need to go see her", Kai suggested otherwise. Her hand stretched forward waiting for him to return her necklace. Narrowing hia gaze on her, he luffed and looked behind himself, necklace slightly clenched in his fist as he noticed the strange symbol on its pendant.
"The symbol.. what does it mean?", he asked
Kai groaned at his inquisitive nature.
"Not this again", she grumbled.
"We are wasting time here", she snapped, her eyes reverting back to its other color.
Nathaniel backed up from her, a raised brow showing his shock. Watching her intently, he saw her stagger a bit, her eyes closed, masaaging her forehead with her index finger and thumb.
Suppressing a groan, she shook it off... reopening her eyes which now shone it's bright greys.
Concern replaced his former coy look as he steadily walked towards her.
"Are you_", his leg slipped. Not noticing the small gap between the wood tiles of the floor, his hand immediately took to his fronts as the hand that held the necklace got hooked with a metal structure that he used for support.
Kai looked on, panic arose at the very second he had fell. Taking a new height as she saw him struggle with her necklace which was now trapped disorderly on the metal.
"Careful... its fragile_", she saw him pull harder on the chain.
Nathaniel ignored her cry. He was this close to getting his answers, and all would be lost if she got her hands on the necklace. So, he yanked harder.
"Stop!!, it gonna_", the chain shattered in an instant. With what was left of the chain scattered on the floor, while the pendant still in his hand.
Her body shook. Mind racing, heart beating with immense speed. A scream was her next call, but not wanting to draw attention to themselves, she went with another approach.
Tears clouded her eyes, as she finally moved her gaze from the broken chain pieces to the boy who had put them there.
"It was all that I had", she whispered
"All that I had... all that was left from him". Her eyes meeting his, a cold glare with tears streaming down her cheeks as she pulled what was left and stormed out of the room.
