50 Tiny Promise

"What?" Bram asked irritably.

"N-nothing..." Drew said with a light cough.

"She screwed the Giants over and they are kind of one of the first mortal races I created,"

"Wait for a second..." Drew said as realization donned on him.

'His wife was the goddess that cursed them?!'

[Recording information...]

"Yeah... As I said, she's a real bitch,"

"Okay then... I got a Half-Giant friend so I can get behind that,"

"But I'm not gonna help his Clan," Drew said as he remembered something.

"They hurt him... bad... I'm not going to help anybody who doesn't deserve to be helped,"

"Understandable,"

"I really only want you to side with Giant's as a whole if needed,"

"But Giants are just like any other mortal race, they are made up of both good and bad people,"

"Help who you can that need it,"

"This isn't a bonding request... I trust your word kid,"

Drew remained silent for a few seconds before nodding.

'I would like to think I'm a man of my word...' Drew whispered to himself.

A cold sensation crept up the back of Drew's scalp and entered the darkest corners of his mind before whispering like it had so many times in the past.

'War... It's coming... If you say yes now, you will have no choice but to take part in it,'

'It's your choice catalyst,'

Drew felt a shiver run through his body as the words finished. He didn't acknowledge them at all but his mind subconsciously thought them over.

"I accept,"

"Then I thank you," Bram said gratefully.

"And with that thanks, I grant you your wish,"

Bram seemed to take in a deep breath as a huge amount of energy swarmed the area and condensed around Drew. Something big was happening and Drew could tell with his new and improved sight.

"Fate be bound and fate be trapped, But when I call you shall always come back," He chanted in a language not like the one Drew had been speaking during his time here, but a language Drew understood nonetheless.

"Fate be wild and fate be crazed, But when I speak, you shall be tamed,"

The suction force in his surroundings began to become greater as [Mana Reaper] almost activated on itself somehow.

'This is what a god is capable of?'

[The current Power tiers seem to be off in the system directory...]

[More information is required to fix them]

'What the hell does that mean?'

[Current power level ranges from level 1-10, 1 being spark level for magic and 10 being at god level]

[This magic far surpasses the 10th tier by at least 10 more tiers depending on if the growth between the tiers grows by the previous factors]

[Therefore the 10th tier is not actually at god-level power but more likely a title among the standard mortal]

"Fate, Bless this chosen with good luck," Bram commanded the energy that surged through the air.

"Karma shall dictate when his fortune becomes stuck,"

"But with good deeds his friend you'll be, and when he sins, an enemy,"

The energy that was collecting and swirling in the air seemed to implode on Drew as it all compacted into his body within an instant.

The only thing noticeable to those without superb mana senses was a subtle yellow flash of light across his body, but to him, it was as if he was imbued with a miniature magical nuke.

[The User is under the effect of an unknown level spell]

[The User has been given a new Unique Skill from this spell!]

[The System has unlocked the Luck and Karma parameters!]

[The User has unlocked the [Karmic Luck] skill!]

'...'

"Thanks?" Drew hesitantly spoke.

"You're welcome," Bram replied simply.

'View my general status and new skill!' Drew commanded the system excitedly.

'...'

"Wait a moment..." Drew said apprehensively.

A short chuckle echoed out from the space around the three.

"I'm sorry, but I really do have to get going now," Bram said with a voice that could only be described as if he had a shit-eating grin at the time.

"Being a god is quite busy after all,"

"Bye now!" He said before the pressure in the surroundings instantly disappeared.

"You fucker!" Drew yelled with his fist raised to no one.

Atun and Jace remained silent even after Bram left, their only movement being their eyes that followed Drew intently.

Drew relaxed his body and let out a deep breath.

'I think I know why my life has been so shitty...'

'It's because I started off with 4 points of luck,'

'And even after being blessed by a god to have better luck, I don't even match up to an average person yet,'

Jace stood up slowly as Drew dropped his guard. A glint of a murderous aura filled Drew's eyes as he saw the Knight move.

'You want to fight me even after your god commanded you not to?'

'Fine, fucker!'

Drew gritted his teeth and raised his Scythes once more in preparation to kill another person.

But just as he was about to leap forward to do the deed, the once valiant warrior began to tremble in fear.

The golden blade that had shone with the light of the heavens moments prior began to dim as it slipped out of his hand with little resistance, clanking onto the ground loudly as the Knight sobbed silently.

'???'

'Why is he crying?' Drew's eyebrows twitched a bit in confusion.

[Scanning the target...]

[The Target has had his magical connection severed forcefully by an unknown source]

[The Target is rapidly losing skills and overall combat strength]

Drew watched as the strong and confident man from earlier became as thin as a stick in the blink of an eye. His body became a husk of its previous self and instead of vitality overflowing him, there was now a stench of death that surrounded him.

"Erm..."

"Leave him be," Atun said slowly.

"He is no longer a part of the Church and has lost the blessings that came with it,"

"This is his punishment for the actions the High Sage orchestrated..."

"A pity..." Atun mumbled as he stared at the former warrior.

The old man moved his gaze from the living corpse on the ground to Drew after straightening his stance.

"We are no longer a threat to you, Child of Oleander,"

"If any of those under Bram dare to lay a finger on you they will be in a similar state as this fallen Knight,"

"That being said..." Atun said with a hesitant yet excited smile.

"I wish to make peace with you, Drew Pence,"

"Please return us our holy relic and then we can talk in-depth of our future together,"

Drew stared at the Priest with emotionless eyes for what seemed like an eternity.

He silently took out the silver candle and tossed it to the Priest wordlessly.

"A future together, huh..." Drew muttered in thought.

"We are even now," he said with a shake of his head.

"So fuck off,"

Drew turned around and left the church in an instant. He was not stopped as he left. No one dared to try and stop him after what just happened.

'That makes one less enemy,' Drew commented inwards.

'Kinda,'

'And now my luck is almost as good as your average dude,'

'So hopefully I don't get screwed over as much as I already have been,'

'Also...'

'Why the hell do I have negative 8 Karma?'

Drew was now walking down the streets of the Stone Side of Nickten. It was rather busy despite it being so late. The Citizens were drunkenly laughing while traveling from store to store, wasting more gold than any peasant would have in a lifetime.

But despite the lively atmosphere, Drew's face remained solemn and irritated.

'Probably from the people I killed...'

'Or that time I sent two people to two different hells...' He pondered.

He continued walking around aimlessly but stopped after seeing that a familiar shop remained open despite it being past midnight.

"Mavick's Golden Thread," Drew read aloud.

'I am about to leave the city, it would be rude if I didn't say goodbye,' He thought as he became more aware of the comfortable suit that he wore once more.

'I haven't been able to fully test its abilities but just the comfort alone is enough for me to want to latch on to that dude's leg and not let go,'

He pushed open the door to Mavick's shop with a warm smile on his face that not many people had seen before.

As the doors opened he was greeted by a mournful sight.

Dozens of apprentices were soundlessly weaving thread and cloth as Mavick watched over them like a hawk scouting its prey.

"Now I see why you were open so late," Drew said with a short chuckle.

"You were serious when you said they would be punished,"

Mavick's eyes snapped to the entrance and the confused look in his eye's disappeared and was quickly replaced with great joy.

"Drew!"

"It's a pleasure to see you again,"
