1 Evolve

The earth started to shake and huge cracks appeard on the ground, the earth opened up and unleased lakes of magma and ash. Cracks expanding atleast twenty kilometers wide and hundreds of kilometers in length, slitting the continant in half.

The world was in a panic due to the loss of cities and people that disappeared in an instant, tectonic plates shifting and breaking appart and falling into the ocean and pushing up landmasses that has never been seen before. Volcanoes formed in the middle of solid plates due to the plates being damaged by the constant tremors and eruptions. Dark volcanic ash covered the earth and poisoned the air. With more than a quarter of the population already dead due to the earthquakes and drownings , the ash and lava didn't kill as many but still a fatal blow to the population.

After a few days the ash settled on the ground and strange things started happening.

Animals were seen from time to time but they were not the same animals we were use to. Animals that were extinct had come back to life and even creatures that were told in folklore started showing up. Monstrosities of our darkest nightmares has come to life and there was almost nothing we could do about it except pray and hope for a quick death. Technology and all mechanical and electrical objects were useless due to some kind of electro magnetic storm that left us with no technological defences. Certain areas of land was almost lifeless except for the plant life that skyrocketed cause by the volcanic ash that had certain properties that gave off a air-born mutagen of some kind that causes the living beings to mutate into the monsters that they are now. The mutation didn't just effect the animal and plants but us as well. After a month in the chaos , someone killed a creature and its blood fell on the persons wound, out of nowhere his body absorbed the creatures blood and the unimageable happend. The man described it as entering a state where he transformed into a hybrid of some sort. He then showed the people the carcas of the animal which looked like a huge crocodile with white scales and crimson eyes , he then proceeded to take of his shirt and started to transform his body full of white scales and spikes. He then told everyone that it didn't stop there and then got on all fours and mutated into the the exact image of the reptile he just killed.

Two years have passed since the world went to sh*t and I have officialy turned eighteen. My name is Raytheon Britz but my two friends call me Ray. Today is a very sunny day and me and my friends decided to go hunt for beast mods , as we called them. It was also Oliver birthday today and he didn't have a beast mod yet ,so me and Jason thought it would be a good idea to help him hunt for one. Since we both had one ,it would just be cooler if all three of us had mods and we would just go out and wreck some quests.

Beast mods were ranked by the abilities they possessed.

For example the white croc's mod gives the user perfecty white and scaley skin which is super durable and crimson red red eyes that enhances ones vision fivefold, and to top it all off , the users lung capacity is that of a darn crocodile.

There was four beast mod ranks:

1) Basic mods

2) Evolving

3) Evolved

4) Ascended

Oliver is a big dude that comes from Hawaii and loved anime but due to the fact that tv is n longer an option he mostly just draw his own art. Jason and I are both the same age, but Jason is from California and was on the San Andreas plate that broke off of the continent. All the continent then shifted back to friggen Pangea and thats how they ended up on the country once known as South Africa where I live.

Things in this new world was much more boring cause we had no new tech to keep us busy , so we started building stuff out of stone and steel like the old days and made professtions like blacksmithing and even medicine. Most of the people lived in the cities built with high walls and large gates to keep the creatures out. The city also formed a quest system in order to hunt the more dangerous creatures that were threats to the city. And today was the day we took a low level quest to get Oliver a mod

"So Olly is there any type of mod that you are interested in like water types." I asked sarcasticly knowing he hates any creature that lives in water. "Get wrecked bish I want something with defence."He said in while shoving me in a bush. "Bro why do want something with defence when you can just make your own armour and shield." asked Jason.

Oliver has chosen to study blacksmithing cause he wanted to make anime swords which is friggen awesome if he ever decided to make me one.

After a few hours of walking Jason suddenly froze en smelt something off about this place and with a look of fear and dispare on his face he grabbed my shoulder and pointed to the grasslands just west of our location. Noticeing his firm grip on shoulder I couldn't help but turn around and saw his terrified state. I slowly turned to where he was pointing and felt my soul being crushed.

Blood and disembodied limbs of people that probably took on a crazy strong creature and lost their lives because of their dicision. Then out of nowhere the creature appeared and saw the the trio infront of it and bared its fangs.

"Its a Kaimen!!" Olly shouted. Kaimens is a hybrid animal with bloodlines of a tiger and a mandrill. It was atleast two and a half meters tall while on all fours. Its body was pitch black and had a tiger's build , the front paws were like clawed hands and was made for climbing and holding on to stuff. the head was large with almost golden yellow eyes and the same weird blue and red lines on the snout like the mandrill. As it slowly approached us we readied ourselfs the best we could. Jason took out his long broad sword an Olly took out his war axe , I finally drew my two short swords and got into my stance waiting to see if we will survive.
