10 Chapter 10- The Revelation

I reach home my face as red as a tomato. The photo still lingers in my head. I lock the door and remove my shoes.

Mum and Dad have gone for a business dinner, so they wouldn't be home by 10.

"Hey sis, are you okay?" Tyler asked, turning off the TV.

"Yeah, I'm good. I went to Aunt Layla's house," I said looking at the ceiling.

Tyler made me sit and gave me a glass of water.

"I heard about Brad," he said carefully.

I immediately spat the water and start to choke.

Tyler sighed.

"I knew about this a few years ago. One of my friends saw this happening and told me. I gave Brad a piece of my mind and came to comfort you. When I came you were packing, and it was time to go. I knew it was a bad time, so I let it remain a secret."

I was shocked.

Tyler knew about this but let it remain a secret, for me.

"I lied to Brad that my name was Sera," I told the truth to Tyler about everything that happened today.

"I'm really mad at that cold-blooded jerk, Han. If he dares to hurt you again, he'll be six feet under," Tyler said furiously. His face was fuming and scarlet.

"I don't know how I or he will react when he identifies me," I sighed.

"Whatever happens Han, remember I'll be always by your side. I love you, Han. You are the best sister in the world. You always protected and took care of me when I was young, you corrected me when I did wrong things and you understood the part of me Mum and Dad couldn't understand. I'll always safeguard you and help no matter what. I trust you and I know you trust me back too. You are the most important person in my life, I will never let anything, or anyone hurt you," Tyler said.

I was rendered speechless.

That was the most beautiful thing I heard someone say.

I nod and mouth a 'thank you'.

"Good night, sis."

"' Night Ty."

My life may be a living hell, but God put some angels to help me.

I waited till Tyler was sound asleep.

Didn't take that long.

I crept towards Dad's office and started rummaging the drawers. He had left the key for the bottom drawer in the keyhole. I unlock it and open.

In it, there were files for every member of our family.

I find mine and open it.

It contained the usual- medical appointments, forms and vaccinations.

That's when I found an old file containing a certificate.

I cannot believe what I saw next.

Name- Sera Alina Rossi

Date of Birth- 14.12.2003

Nationality- Italian

Birthplace- Sicily, Italy

Birth Father's name- Alessandro Damien Rossi

Birth Mother's name- Elena Giovanna Rossi

Foster parent(s)- Richard Lionel Blakely, Sarah Angelina Blakely

It was an adoption certificate.

Adoption.

The Blakely family is not my family.

I'm not the daughter of Richard and Sarah Blakely.

Tyler is not my brother.

I probably didn't have a family.

I probably wouldn't know them.

I'm an orphan.

All the connections were running in my mind.

All the information, names and places fit correctly.

Now I know why I do not look like any of my family members. Now I know why Mum and Dad are overprotective of me.

It all made sense.

I started crying. Harder than I have ever done before. Tears were spilling rapidly, moving down my cheek and wetting my pillow. I felt the darkness engulf me, pulling me down, drowning me and dying with me.

Betrayal.

That's all I feel.

Cheat.

That's what the most important people did to me.

Trust.

I cannot feel it anymore.

The dark.

Where I felt safe.

-------------------------------------------------

I woke up at7:30 and went to the bathroom.

My eyes were red and puffy. My face was incredibly pale, so I wash it and apply eye drops to my eyes.

I couldn't go to school today.

I feel tired and I want to confront my parents and today was the perfect day.

I went downstairs in my PJs and ate breakfast.

"Morning," I grumbled to everyone in the kitchen.

Tyler was on his phone; Dad was drinking coffee and Mum was cooking.

"Hannah, get ready. It's getting late," Mum said while toasting bread.

"I don't want to," I whined.

"Hannah, stop acting like a baby. It's Senior year. You cannot skip school. Go up and get dressed."

"Mum she must have a reason. Look at her. She looks pale," Tyler objected.

What did I do to be blessed with such a brother?

"Hannah are you sick?" Dad asked worriedly.

I didn't reply.

"Hannah you are old enough to make your own decisions. Act like a mature, young lady," Mum said sternly.

That's it.

"Old enough?" I snorted, "Sure I am old enough. By the way, my name is Sera Alina Rossi, not Hannah."

Mum's face went white. Dad dropped his coffee mug and it shattered to pieces.

"What happened to everyone. What are you saying, sis?" Tyler asked averting his eyes from his phone.

I chuckled evilly.

"Sorry Tyler, I'm not your sister," I told him, apologetically.

Tyler looked confused and turned to Mum and Dad whose faces were dead.

"H-h-how long did y-you know?" Mum or shall I say Mrs Blakely stammered.

She erupted into sobs and wept, clutching her apron.

My foster dad got up and went comfort her.

"She would eventually find out darling," he whispered and hugged her.

"Heck yeah. I found out alright! Didn't you think of telling me!? I am sixteen for the love of God. I'm old enough to get a damn driver's licence and mature enough to do a proper job. And you didn't think of telling me? You cheated me. How long did you think you could hide the truth from me? Did I develop a very close bond with Tyler recently, to see it what, destroyed? Shit, I don't know if you love me anymore. Blood before love, isn't it?" I shouted at them.

"W-what is she s-saying Mum?" Tyler questioned her in disbelief.

She kept on crying.

"I ASKED WHAT IS SHE SAYING!?" Tyler bellowed.

Both my foster parents kept on weeping.

"Tyler I'm adopted, I'm not your sister," I told him sadly.

"No. No. No. NO. NO. NO!" Tyler cried.

"Yes," I told him softly.

I hugged him, while he started to cry in my shoulders.

Tyler had never cried for ten years. To see him cry made me hold him even tighter.

--------------------------------------

It took half an hour for them to recover.

Mum was crying and surprisingly Dad too.

Tyler was so furious that he started throwing things on the floor and swearing.

"Come here Hannah, we owe you an explanation," Mum said recovering from her tears.

I nod and sit beside her.

"Your father, Alessandro Rossi was a powerful mafia gang leader in Italy. Many feared him an worked under him. He had dealt with almost all the major corporate companies in the world. He was such a mysterious man. He would disappear for months working on his secret project. After his wife, Elena gave birth to you 17 years ago, they disappeared somewhere mysterious. The disappearance of the Rossis is a widely discussed issue in the political and underground world today. He was extremely dangerous and powerful." Mum said, wiping her tears away.

"We had gone on a business trip to Italy with the Romanos during that time. You were there in Rossi's headquarter's where the secretary was playing with you in his arms. You were only 3 months old and very beautiful. Rossi's disappearance and your existence were known worldwide news reporters tried to take photos of you," Dad continued the story.

"Your name was in headlines for many days. Your name is a common household name around Italy and almost everyone knows the sad story of Sera Alina Blakely. So we adopted you. Only the Romanos knew that. We lied to our relatives about your true identity. We made deals with the US government to let your name and identity stay under secrecy, to not inform the world what happened to Sera Rossi and to not discuss the issue of the Rossis anymore in media. This was fo your safety," Mum continued, her sobs stopping.

"We decided to adopt you not for the pity neither did we have any connections with Rossi. When we saw you there was an aura around you that pulled as to do this. We have seen you as a daughter ever since, honey," Mum said.

"Rossi's businesses, properties and mafia will go under your name when you turn eighteen. You have to take care of them and move to Italy," Dad said in a serious tone.

"What about university?" I asked.

I wanted to have a double major in Medicine and Business management.

"If you really wanted to go to uni, you can have an online course or you can study here and operate your business using representatives. But remember, it's mafia- it's the best for you and the world if you operate personally," Dad continued.

"Rossi's mafia and businesses are the most powerful and wealthiest in the world. I know it'll be a burden working in it, but Rossi's rules for the mafia was to have only the heir operating, so we cannot keep partnership deals," Mum told me.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I thought about what Mum and Dad told about Rossi: my real parents.

I will take care of the business and mafia. I will make sure his mafia isn't corrupted and illegal.

I will do this for both sets of parents.

They might have adopted me but I love them.

I checked my phone to see many missed calls and messages from Jaz and an unknown number.

Jaz:

Han, where are you? I'm waiting outside

Han, are you coming to schl?

Han

Answer me!!!

Do you want me to fry you in a saucepan?

Han, Santa has come to my house

I chuckled lightly and went to check the messages from the unknown number.

Unknown:

Hi Hannah

It's Nate

Where r u??

Need 2 talk.

Okay. That was a shock.

Wonder, what he wanted to tell me?

I saved his number and replied, "I'll be there tmr."

I decided to tell everything to Jaz tomorrow.

------------------------------------------------------

I went down for dinner in a surprisingly cheerful mood.

"What's for dinneeeeeeeer?" I sang.

"Are you okay?" Mum asked.

"Yup!"

Everyone looked at me weirdly including the servants. They didn't know about my identity, of course.

"I just realised that I may not have parents, but I have two amazing angels in the form of parents who love me like their daughter," I told them after the servants went.

Mum and Dad hugged me simultaneously.

"And I have a brother who thinks I am the most important thing in the world," I said and hugged Tyler. He hugged back.

"You are always our daughter. You are not Sera Rossi, you are Hannah Blakely for us, always," My parents said together.

We all agreed and ate our dinner in peace.

This is one of the few times I felt peaceful in life.

One thing I knew,

It wouldn't last long.
