The couple exchanged their rings, Renata barely looked at Killian and Killian's annoyance was further increased but her lack of enthusiasm. "Thank you, Julie for telling me this ring belonged to my mother. Its beautiful. I can think of it as hold a memory from her." The words that sounded simple on the surface seemed to pull different emotions from the two families and the guests including Killian.
It felt as if she had changed. Her actions were not how they used to be and for those unfamiliar with her, they found it interesting that she would acknowledge her status.
The ceremony ended with food and dance; Renata could not wait to leave. "Do you want to spend some time with Killian, I can speak with your father to allow you two lovebirds to speak freely without people watching your every move." Her ever so charming uncle jokingly teased. They both knew her father would never agree to that, in her past life she would have been disappointed probably go to bed crying but in this life, she banked on the fact her father was strict and would not allow it.
Renata was not sure when her father had reached her side, must have something to do with being a cultivator. Honestly, she could not wait to figure out if she can cultivate or not. "You can spend time with him if that's what you want." What the fuck, are the only words she could make out because who tilted the world upside down and made her strict dad speak such nonsense, it might be a parallel world, but his personality has been constant thus far what kind OCC bullshit was this.
Her brain felt fuzzy. "No, father there won't be any need for that. I am tired it has been a long day and I am sure Killian and his family want to leave soon as well."
She knew Killian would support what she was saying, since he might want to sneak his way to Julie's room or wherever the pair would be meeting. She looked around to search for her traitor of a husband/fiancé, and not surprising enough he was attached to the little shadow. When he felt a gaze on him, he turned around to see Renata looking at him. He expected to see some jealousy in her eyes or even anger but instead he saw a pleading look.
It might not have been what he expected but he was pleased, nonetheless. "He came towards her with Julie on tow. The two of them looked like a couple straight out of a fairytale, the innocent looking princess next to her knight, only thing missing was a white horse and they could ride away into the sunset.
Renata would gladly help them, if that's what they wanted, she would even shower them with rice in celebration of their departure, but she knew better.
The fairytale couple stood in front of her, "Is there a problem?" Killian asked sincerely while touching her arm affectionately, she wished she could throw up in that very moment but they were supposed to be a happy couple so she could not do that. "Oh, I was teasing my niece by telling her I would ask permission from her father, so that you two can have some alone time. Who knew he would accept."
Killian was disgusted by such an idea, he wanted to spend time with Julie not with this waste. How could uncle even suggest such a thing, he wondered. "Thank you, uncle, father-in-law but I am sure Renata is tired and wants to rest. My family wants to leave soon, as there are things to take care of in our territory. As if he would agree to such nonsense, he looked at Renata expecting looking of disappointment instead of that, she had a look of relief. What the actual fuck, Killian thought before he could think further his soon to be father-in-law spoke, "That is what Renata said, I accept your wishes. Go well." Raanan left the youngsters along with his brother.
Renata offered Killian a smile, "I know it has been a long day for all of us, so I will take me leave." Before she could hightail her way out of there, Killian pulled at her arm. He slightly squeezed it as he looked at her dead in her eyes, she did not flinch instead slowly tried to pry his fingers away from her due to his cultivation, he was stronger than her. She looked at Julie meaningfully, who knew there was something different about her sister now. She was not sure what it was, but it was best not act like they usually did, until she can confirm she had completely changed.
The engagement proved that there was something different about her, she acknowledged her mother when she has never done so before since she had always desperately wanted approval from Dorian. Thus, Julie tapped Killian on the shoulder, a tact understanding seemed to pass through between the two.
From distance where Divya was watching, she was seething and wanted to waltz over there a punch Killian between those catlike eyes. He turned back towards Renata, looked at the arm he was hold than at those cold distant eyes before letting go of her.
He was beginning to feel livid by this sudden change of behaviour, he felt as if he was losing control of an object had owned for the longest time even though he hated it but he did not want to part with it.
