Teach me

The carriage was moving again, but the coachman from before had already fled once the mercenaries showed up. So the one who was driving the horse drawn carriage was Brian the mercenary. While he was humming a little tune as he controlled the horses, the knight who was right beside him kept on looking at him. Brian wasn't bothered by the knight's actions since, everything he did was against the knight's ideal, and he knew he was wary of him.

Inside the carriage Ren was still sleeping snuggly beside his sword. The three boys who were in the carriage looked at him warily.

It was eerily quiet in the carriage, the only one who seemed comfortable, was the source of the awkwardness which was Ren. Michael wanted to do something about the current awkwardness so he tried to start a conversation.

"Hey Lin, do you have any clue who this Uncle of yours is?"

Lin shook his head, "I really have no idea, based on the stories from the older generation of my family, everyone related to us here in the Divine Lord's Empire was either banished or killed. So I'm not sure if this was a relative whose family got lucky and was neither banished or killed. Or the more likely scenario that whatever the mercenary said was all a lie and he said those things, just to save his skin for the moment." The shy Lin that had difficulty talking awhile ago has a very serious looking face at the moment.

Michael was shocked by the difference of the Lin who was shy moments ago and the serious one now.

"Do you think the mercenary would lie to Ren? If Ren ever finds out that all the mercenary said was a lie wont he..." Before Michael could finish his statement, he looked at Ren and stopped himself from speaking further.

Unaware of Michael's current dilemma Lin continued what Michael was about to say. "Ren might kill him, or worse destroy his whole mercenary group." When Lin saw Michael panicking and looking at him then at Ren, Lin finally noticed what he said and blocked his mouth.

Seeing Ren not responding, Lin sighed in relief. They didn't know what might trigger this person called Ren. If he finds their conversation unpleasant, he might offhandedly decide to kill the two of them.

Based on the strength that Ren exhibited earlier, even a fart from him might destroy their weak bodies.

Lin and Michael continued observing Ren, and once they convinced themselves that he was truly asleep, they felt extremely relieved. The two wanted to have a conversation as to who Ren was. Based solely on the power and skill he displayed, as well as his young age, he must've been somebody famous. The two wanted to exchange information about Ren, but couldn't do so seeing as he was there. They weren't even sure if this Ren was pretending to be asleep or if he was truly asleep. They didn't know if Ren was his actual name or just an alias. Basically they don't anything about him, save for the fact that he seems to like sleeping, and is very strong.

While Lin and Michal were trying to guess Ren's identity, the most energetic and talkative of the two was having different thoughts.

Jason was holding the sword the knight gifted to him, while observing Ren. He was observing Ren, the way he breathes, his posture as he sleeps, and such. He was in total awe of Ren, the way he easily subdued the threat before him while still half asleep. No he didn't even perceive the mercenary group as a threat.

Ren was the same age as Jason, but the difference of their abilities were like heaven and earth. How did he, at such a young age grew to be that strong? The guy called Ren wasn't even a cultivator but his skill made him seem like one.

'Even without Qi, one can reach such a level of strength, could I do it too?' Jason was getting excited by the thought of new kind of power. A power different from Qi, and different from the Divine Lord's blessing.

Jason clenched the hilt of the sword he was holding even tighter. This was the first time he held a blade, and he knew nothing about the way of the sword. Yet he wanted to learn, he wanted to be someone, he wanted to leave his own legend, and the way to become a legend was right in front of him.

Though he didn't see Ren use a sword, but based solely on the way he subdued the mercenaries, he must be quite skilled with it. Jason believed that the huge sword beside Ren wasn't just for show.

Jason pulled out his sword from the scabbard, but before he could do anything Lin and Michael restrained him.

"What the hell are you doing Jason!" Michael whispered in a higher pitch than usual.

"Do you want us to die?" Lin said while hugging Jason's left arm trying his best to stop him from moving.

Jason didn't answer, he simply tried to remove the two clinging onto his arms. It wasn't clear what had happened but, maybe because of the carriage being shaky or because Jason had a sudden burst of strength, he was able to get away from the two restraining him.

Jason swung the sword downward at full strength, he didn't even bother to think, what if Ren wasn't able to stopped the blade. Jason truly believed in Ren's skills, such a slow and sloppy slash, Ren should be able to stop it even if he was asleep, such was Jason's thoughts.

The blade was nearing Ren's head but before it could reach it was stopped. The thing that stopped the blade was a fingernail, to be more specific it was the fingernail in Ren's pinky that stopped the blade.

Ren's slightly long fingernail was able to stop a sharpened blade from hitting him. With a yawn, Ren looked at the smiling excited Jason. "So?... Why the hell did you do that?" Ren started to release killing intent, one strong enough to make even the bravest of fighters tremble in fear.

In fact the carriage stopped because Brian felt the killing intent that wasn't even directed at him. Lin and Michael were already trembling in fear, while the knight outside looked at the carriage worried.

Jason on the other hand who was receiving the full brunt of the killing intent, got even more excited. 'He really is the real deal!' His body was trembling, even he himself didn't know if he was trembling in fear or excitement. Jason boldly smiled at Ragna and bowed his head.

"Please teach me the ways of the sword!" Jason suddenly shouted, startling everyone including Ren.

Ren looked at Jason, and answered "Hell no" before going back to sleep.
