Magic

Ren was smiling at the boy who had a Cerberus cowering behind him. "Hey Michael I thought you were someone from the cultivators side, how come your able to use magic? Also your acting was pretty good, you were actually able to fool me."

"I did come from the cultivator side, but I stumbled upon a scroll teaching me a mana circulation technique, that's when I fully awakened from within the coward, it was also then I decided to head to the Divine Lord's Empire... Also I wasn't acting... I have two different personalities... No that's not it, there are two different people residing inside this body." Michael answered a bit hesitantly he was looking at Ren's predatory eyes that seem to want to gobble him up.

"Two different people? Split personalities huh, so does that mean the other Michael can use magic as well?" Michael nodded his head as he was slowly moving backward creating space between him and Ren.

"Then why didn't he protect the others during Brian's attack? Your little pup alone could have massacred the whole mercenary troop."

Cerberus noticing the gaze of Ren was directed at him started whimpering, the prideful beast couldn't even react to being called a pup by the being in front of him.

"My morning self, my other self doesn't really like hurting people... Also because he's not really good at controlling his magic, he fears he might accidentally kill his allies."

Ren finished asking his question and started to absorbed the new information he received. While Ren was thinking Michael and Cerberus slowly backed away. "So Ren it's getting a bit late I'll just head back to the inn."

When Michael turned around Ren was already right in front of him. Michael was startled and so was the Cerberus, it was like Ren just teleported in front of them.

"Hey now why the rush Michael I still have a request only you could handle." The happy smile on Ren's face was unnerving, Michael had goosebumps as he looked at Ren's smiling face.

"How can I help you Ren?" It took all of Michael's willpower to ask that question without stuttering. Ren patted Michael's back and laughed.

"No need to be so nervous I just want to see your magic and compare it to mine. I want to see if your invocation and everything else is different from how I use magic."

Michael looked at Ren stunned, the Cerberus on the other hand looked at the huge sword at Ren's back and thought 'this guy wasn't a warrior but a magician? Is he a body strengthening type magician?' Michael on the other hand was having different thoughts. 'Ren can also use magic?! Even though he was already powerful and has excellent technique, now your telling me he can also use magic?! How unfair can the world get! Still I am kinda interested in Ren's magic, if I can't escape might as well get something out of this.'

"Ren before I show you my magic, can you show me your magic just for reference."

"Ok then I will show you mine first. You two better stand beside me without moving an inch." Michael and Cerberus hearing Ren's warning moved closer to him. Seeing the two were close enough Ren started thinking about what magic he should use.

'If I use Dragon Slave many people will notice, I need to use something more inconspicuous. Fine then I'll use that spell.' Ren started his incantation.

"Eniant spiritus glaciales! Extendantur aeri tundram et glaciem, loci noctis albae! Crystallitatio Tellustris!"

Jagged pillars of ice started jutted up from the ground. The surrounding thirty meter area was now surrounded by jagged pillars of ice. The spell he used back in Cromer city was now stronger since Ren's mana capacity and control got better.

Michael was amazed by the magic he couldn't understand, but what amazed him even more was Ren's mana capacity. The moment he used magic Michael could finally glimpse into a bit of Ren's mana pool and the bits he felt was enormous. The magic Ren just used was a bit more tame than expected but it gave him the chance to witness a new kind of magic.

The Cerberus who was able to peer deeper into Ren's mana pool had actually found a different source of mana that was not of Ren's. There was something hidden within Ren's mana pool and just a glimpse of it made the Cerberus regret his actions. There was an enormous power hidden deep inside Ren which made the Cerberus decide never to oppose Ren in anyway.

"Ok then I showed you my magic, show me yours." Michael nodded his head. "Firewall!" There was no chant just one word and a wall of flame surrounded Ren, Michael, and Cerberus. The flames tried to burn the ice magic Ren used but was unable to.

"What was that?! You didn't even chant." Ren was excited this was the first time he saw magic that was not coming from himself.

"That was a delay spell. I already chanted the spell words awhile ago and stored it. Once I say the activation word it will automatically be used. I can store up to four different spells."

"So then does the activation spell consume the same amount of mana, as the time you store the spell?"

"No the mana use for activation consumes only a tiny bit. The time when I stored the spell is when I used the appropriate amount of mana to invoke the spell. This is a great tactic to use if you need to conserve your mana."

The two started talking about magic theories, and their own understanding of magic. The fear Michael had at the beginning was slowly fading, it was replace by joy of knowing someone who was interested in the truth of magic like he was.

After awhile Ren finally asked the question he wanted to ask since awhile ago. "Hey can you teach me how to use summoning magic?"

"Yes I could, but I must warn you... You could only summon one being, and using the summoning spell again would summon the same being. The one you summon will be your own personal summon that is closely related to your soul."

"Fine then, just teach me... Let's see what kind of beast I can summon." Ren was super excited about summoning. It didn't matter if he could only summon one thing, since he had the system he could just get another summon if he wanted to once the system is available. Ren just wanted to see what kind of being was closely tied to his soul aside from the system.
