Choose One

Michael instructed Cerberus to mow down the surrounding trees within a hundred meters. When that was done afterwards Michael drew numerous magic circles on the ground where the trees once stood. He then instructed Ren to stand at the middle of the summoning circle without moving, once he was done forming the magic circles around the summoning circle, Michael approached Ren with levitation so that he wont disrupt the flow of mana gathering into the magic circles.

"Ren I'm done with creating the necessary formations now you just need to recite the chant I told you awhile ago. While you say the chant be sure to gather all your mana and surround yourself with it, the mana you'll be releasing will be like a beacon to the summon being. If there is more than one you need to choose properly." Ren nodded his head in acknowledgement.

Ren gathered all of his mana that he could draw from his mana pool and surrounded himself with it. Michael and Cerberus who felt the torrent of mana were suffocating from it. The first magic circle used to hide ones mana activated. The mana that was suffocating them lessened, and yet they still felt it around them.

"Is that guy really human?" Cerberus communicated with his master through telepathy. "I'm not sure anymore..."

Ren started chanting after gathering mana and surrounding himself with it. "To those who witness the light of my mana hear my call! To those who wish to serve me and bask in my might hear my call! I summon the one who is the other half of my soul, show yourself!"

When the chant was done, thousands of lights flickered around the summoning circle. Another magic circle activated when this happened, it concealed the summoning process from anyone looking from afar.

When Michael saw the thousand lights surrounding Ren, he was blown out of his mind. When he tried to use summoning for the first time, there were only three choices and the other two got scared of Cerberus and quickly dispersed. Yet here stood Ren with a thousand summons and none seem to want to back off, that could only mean the summon choices were of identical strength.

Ren was looking at the glowing lights flickering around him in amusement. All of these lights were a summon being that wishes to form a contract with him.

"To those of you who wish to be summoned by me, tell me why I should pick you?" Ren asked this, what happens next will be like a job interview. The flickering lights started talking at the same time. Ren made them stop and asked them to speak one at a time.

"You should pick me dear summoner." A glowing light approached Ren in it Ren saw a giant dragon flying around a planet! "I am called Ancalagon, I'm an ancient dragon that has existed since the dawn of time. My power is unrivaled."

Another glowing light pushed Ancalagon's light aside and spoke, it was a very heavy tone. Ren looked at the light and saw a man sitting on a throne. "Heh ancient dragons... Those are not really good summons, they take up too much space. I Rinther Seir Heflein am the Demon Lord of three worlds. I have the same power as that ancient dragon. Do not believe his words there are many beings that claim to have unrivaled power."

The Demon Lord's light was pushed aside for another. Inside this light a seductive looking lady wearing barely anything was dancing in front of Ren. "Why bother picking men? You should pick me instead, not only am I powerful in battle I can satisfy you in bed as well."

Same as before another light came into contact with Ren. Inside this light was a man who looked like a monkey playing around the trees. "Hey no need to pick anyone but me. I can assure you of having a good time, why don't you pick old Sun okay? I the great sage equaling heaven am a better companion than all these guys, why don't you ask the baldy monk how good a companion am I?"

This time a new light appeared and in it was a man covered in fire. "Why pick such lowly beings as your summon? With the might hidden within you, the one you need to summon should match your status. I am Ferandou a God of fire!"

More of them made their sales pitch and Ren tried to listen to them all, but once he got to the hundred mark it was getting irritating.

'There must be a way to pick a summon faster...' Ren had sudden thought. "Hey can all beings above a hundred thousands years old leave. I need a relatively young summon with high potential."

When the summon beings heard this a huge commotion started.

"Don't be like that young one, even though we are old we can still improve. Our life span is just a bit longer than most... Why I'm a million years old but in my race that's considered young, I'm practically a teenager in my race."

"Shut up you old fogey! Didn't you hear? He wants them young, ok so leave."

"Let's not be hasty he might not understand that an experienced summon is better than a young one."

"Why the hell are you talking like your a virgin? Go home already you old dogs!"

Ren sighed at the reactions of all the summon beings. He released a burst of his mana to get their attention. The moment everyone quieted down Ren spoke, "I wont change my mind so I suggest everyone I said leave, better leave."

Michael and Cerberus who were watching shivered and almost peed themselves. These guys are Gods, Dragons, Demon Lords, and other extremely powerful beings and your still ordering them around like their dogs. Their even listening to you properly! What happened to their pride? What did they see that made them so subservient? No one could have answered Michael's question except the summons themselves.
