28 The Things That Could Be Improved

Two carriages could be seen were traversing the town with guards surrounding them. One at the front was a fancy carriage while the other at the back was a normal looking carriage that could be found easily at medieval town's street.

Suddenly a gray-haired man on top of a gray horse approach the fancy carriage before muttered with an uncertain expression,

"Young Master, is it really alright for you to inspect a place like that? I think that this kind of dirty place is unworthy to be inspected personally by the Lord of a territory!"

"Rest assured, I will just take a look for a brief moment before going back." I reassuringly said

As the two carriages were traversing streets after streets, people start getting harder and harder to find. Until the street became completely desolate with people and that was when the two carriages finally stop.

I take a peek to the scenery outside from the window and see that road was way smaller than the main road, a lot of the building was also in an almost unusable condition.

"Here I am, the slums!" I uttered to the place addressed in my surroundings in a weird way.

Although it was only the outskirt of the slums, it was dirty beyond belief. Just then, I see that the road was full of human waste littered on the side and it was mixed with sand and mud before being soaked in the rain multiple times.

My mood became awful in an instant and I told the guard outside to move the carriage back 20 meters away from the place, back to the entrance of the road.

Then, I told one of the guards outside to call the Steve old man out of his carriage and meet me at my carriage.

Not long after, a crooked elderly man with a stick comes to my carriage. I got out of my carriage to meet the old man. I was the first one to strike the conversation before he could even open his mouth,

"You should have seen the situation at this place, right? I will give you your first task to accomplish, I guess you had some suspicion for the task, no?" I inquired the crooked old man mischievously with a smile that wasn't a smile.

"Yes, of course, milord! Milord wants me to punish and discipline the people at the slums for having dumped their waste on the road, right?" The Steve old man smirks confidently while pointing his stick to the peoples hiding in the slums.

"What?" Hearing what the crooked elderly man was saying, I was disappointed by his old way of thinking, then I gaze at him disapprovingly before reprimanding, "No! I want you to clean this place!"

"I need you to gather the townsfolk to clean the waste that had been littering in the streets and not only at the slums!" I added while pointing to the waste that had been fused with a lot of things.

"But milord, if Milord were to issue a command to forcefully gather the townsfolk for free that might cause unrest!" The Steve old man interjected with a pale face that was as white as a paper.

"I never said to not pay them! I want you to told the people to reward anyone that brings this waste to the back of the mansion for 50 coppers every bucket!" I shake my head for his narrow thinking.

"50 copper coins for every bucket of waste? That's too much! I suggest milord reconsider!" The Steve old man was shocked beyond belief and tried to make me reconsider.

"My decision's valid, do as what I say!" I ordered decisively and with that my decision was made.

Although 50 coppers coins might sound much for a commoner, it wasn't much for me that had almost unlimited money under my back. The worth of 50 coppers should only be enough for people to live for a day quite luxuriously and a few days if used sparingly.

The amount that the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce making alone was already enough to cover all of the expenses and projects that I was going to implement in my territory.

'With the total amount of waste that had been piling up in the town, it should be enough to be converted into fertilizer for a few months!'

'This project will also clean the streets that previously had been covered with feces and urine of humans and other living beings such a horse that do it anywhere they wanted to.'

'By driving the people to work, it will also create jobs for them. The money they got would also circulate more in the territory, driving the economy even more than it was before! If they were to spend more money, it's meant more taxes for me to gather.'

'If the people were to be richer, they would also less to be displeased and cause a riot. There are so many benefits that it completely outweighs the few cons that didn't worth to mention.'

'This project is just as efficient as killing six birds or possibly more with one stone! So effective that I would have to cheer for my brilliantness if there isn't anyone watching me!'

As I was pondering all of that, my poker face almost broke as I was smiling ear to ear inside without anyone noticing.

"Yes, milord!" The Steve old man bows his head while holding his stick to hold his body.

Although this project will definitely clean the town, I still need to plan to increase the sanitation of the town by creating a waterway system that will run and connect to almost every site of the town before building a modern public toilet.

As for how the system might work, it will basically collect the waste to a place before processing them and transforming them into fertilizer. To build this, I will need to discuss with Sebastian for further discussion and make more robots to be used as the builder.

A lot of technology like the huge scale 3D Printing and nanobot will be used here. Without it, building the place might take weeks and months even with the robots.

In the event that this project works properly and successfully, I will expand it to the other surrounding villages, towns, and even Oxford City at the heart of Sanchez County.

Then after all of the thing has been taken care of, I ordered the guards to send the Steven elderly away to begin his work.

It's time for me to go to the central plaza of the town for the selection of capable people that might be useful to me. Immediately, I board the carriage to continue onward.

The carriage then starts to travel back to the crowded street from before. The guards under the command of Sir Gareth at the side were shouting and pushing people to make way for the carriage to pass.

Not long after, I reach the central plaza of the town. What I see there makes my eyes almost popped out from the shock. There was a sea of people with like around hundreds of them at the plaza alone.

People could even be seen at the rooftop of the building sitting and viewing the stage that was placed in the back middle of the plaza that had been prepared beforehand by Sebastian.

'I guess people in this world didn't have so many entertainments in their life, that they were so bored to the point even this kind of thing interests them so much!' I direct my gaze across the people from the window and realize that the entertainment industry could be developed well in this world.

'If I were to make a big TV… wait no… a big hologram screen in the middle of the plaza for people's entertainment and advertising products… There is just so much potential here that I couldn't ravel right now!' I hold my chin in deep thought of the business that could possibly bloom.

Although there was something called Projection crystal that was capable to transmit connection from crystal to crystal with magic, the usage was quite the same with a hologram and even a bit ineffective.

Just then, a big commotion was heard from outside as people seem to realize the fancy carriage I was using. People were rushing here and there without much care of the one being pushed.

"Hey, that's the Lord's carriage!" One of the commoners at the rooftop point out while shouting.

"Out of my way! You cannot block the great me from the Lord!" A big bald man with a scar yelled and pushed the people in front to get a better view and try to be frontmost.

On another side of the crowd, a middle-aged woman was frantically shouting while seems to be searching for something, "Does anyone see my son? Ivan, where are you?"

The crowd was getting messier as time passed, I shake my head in disdain for the savagery and undisciplined of the people here.

"No matter what world it was, Humans are a quite egoistic and brute race, although the people here lack discipline because of the lack of education." There was when I realize another topic that I must discuss with Sebastian later.

Just as the carriage reached the side of the stage, the guards with Sir Gareth in the lead were making a line to stop people from pushing and make way for me to get out of the carriage.

As I come out from the carriage people were shock to see an 11-year-old boy to be the Lord.

"I thought the Lord was a 2-meter-tall man, the rumor was wrong!" One of the commoners at the side seems to realize that he gets a wrong rumor.

"You must be a people not native to the town, right? Almost everyone in the town knows that the Lord was just a somewhat handsome boy!" Another man in the side answered the confused man.

Just then, Lily also came out from the carriage. Suddenly, a loud commotion erupted from the peoples in the plaza.

"A goddess! A goddess has descended!" A sudden statement become the point when a loud commotion erupted.

"A beautiful white hair, a pretty face with a pure and innocent look that could make all of the women in the territory die from envy!" Someone said in amazement.

"You idiot! Her beauty was at the level where it could cause a nation war to break out! No… even that was still an understatement!" Someone else in the back interjected for the ignorant of the people that were shouting previously.

Seeing the reaction of the people, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry and muttered to myself, 'Had they not seen beauty before? Although Lily was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, they didn't need to be so exaggerated!"

Unknown to me, if anyone were to hear my inner thought, they would have rushed at me and slap my face for my ignorant of beauty.
