4 The Dark Space

Soon Alex found himself floating in the midst in a dark dimension. He was alone in this dark and gloomy space.

'Where am I? What is this place', Alex asked himself, 'Am I asleep? Is this some kind of dream?'

Many such questions arose in his mind. For some reasons, he didn't panic when he found himself in this space. He wasn't happy or scared but in an emotionless state.

You could say he had lost his emotions when he died back on earth. It felt as if eternity has passed while being drifted in this empty dark void.

'If this is a dream, this must be one long boring one or perhaps the worst nightmare.', Alex said to himself in his mind.

Just when a sudden sting of pain went through his head.

'What was that!', Alex tried to say it loud but the space canceled out the sound.

Just when some afterimages popped in his mind as soon as he got the pain. It was a very foggy and abstract image that soon he even forgot to care. He then continued to mindlessly float in the dark dimension.

But after a minute or two more pain instigated in his head. This time a number of different abstract images popped him in his head and brought along severe pain with every image he saw.

Alex tried to scream but in this dimension, sound cannot reverberate. Hence his screams in agony remained stuck in his throat.

The afterimages were distorted and abstracted at first, but soon such more images came in his head, the more clear the image got. The afterimages started to form a pattern and soon he saw a vision.

'It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!...', he mumbled to himself as the pain increased.

As he saw the vision he also started to hear some noises. The noises of people screaming.

Soon he saw a vision which was rather a peculiar one.

There was a group of huge army armed with armors with medieval weapons who ran helter-skelter in a frenzy. Despite they had a huge sheer of the number to their side, they still seem to be running away from someone or something.

In the midst of the fleeing army, there was a dark pitch black sphere which kept expanding and devouring every soldier in its path. That black mysterious sphere even ate the surrounding buildings and trees. It didn't even spare the very ground which started to crumble and sucked inside the sphere.

It looked like a black hole that was created on the land itself.

The black hole expansion also gained speed and it caught every soldier that tried to outrun it. Soon Alex also was devoured by the black sphere and soon he returned back to dark space where he was floating before.

As soon as the vision ended, the pain in Alex's head also subsided.

'What was that all about? And back again here? What kind of dream is this? I need to wake up already!', said Alex to himself.

Just when a small speck of light appeared in the dark dimension in front of Alex.

It was just like a single twinkling star in a pitch dark sky.

Soon Alex body started to be pulled towards this light and before he knew he started to fall towards the light.

With this sudden change of events, Alex should be a little perplexed but he still had that deadpan face. The small speck of light started to glow and it became bigger and bigger every second. Alex body was falling toward the source of the light and fall down with greater force. The dark space now turned into bright white space.

Despite that, Alex maintained his expressionless face as he thought, 'I don't know what is going on and I don't even care!'

But soon the long nightmare ended.

Soon the bright light started to dissipate. Alex slowly opened his eyes. He saw the sun above in the sky shining brightly and he was sleeping on the rocky floor. For some reason, Alex wasn't able to move his body but he was able to move his head a little. He moved his head to check around his surroundings.

'Did I drank all night again?', thought Alex as he tried to confirm where he was. When he checked around the surround by lifting his head, he was in shock.

"Where the fuck am I?", shrieked out Alex as he still remained motionless on the ground.

For some reason, he ended up in a rocky desert.

"Glad you are awake. I guess you have regained your senses, finally. Better late than never.", greeted a stranger.

Alex diverted his head towards this strange voice. Just to be more surprised the one who was speaking was sitting on his stomach, making himself at home.

"Upsy-Daisy, rise, and shine! You should get moving before the vultures' starts to feast on you."

"A talking crow?", spoke out Alex in surprise.
