3 The New Kid

(Alex's POV)

God, I hate having to go to school. Technically, I don't have to do anything, but my uncle Michael insists that I go to class and try. I like my uncle Gabe though. He helps me get away with not going to class and doing work. It's gonna be a normal boring day for me. Well, except for the possible human I overheard the angels gossiping about. (That's all they are good for) I still have to be on school grounds though, so I suppose I should still get ready. I quickly pull on a pair of ripped up, jet black skinny jeans with lavender colored seams and a Metallica t-shirt. Accompanied by a pair of black ankle boots and a black sweatshirt with dark purple and black plaid patches. I then quickly brush through my hair and grab my laptop bag before beginning my walk to school. You'd think that Purgatory would be a dark place, but it's actually really bright and "normal". Irritatingly normal. I came back to get away from "normal." Lately, I've realized that that's not possible. People will be pricks whether it's Earth or Purgatory. As I reach the door of the massive Victorian castle style school, I'm shoved by some blonde angel bitch, but keep walking. Once I make it inside, I see the typical cliques hanging out in their own areas as usual. I jump up to an empty area up on a decently sized ledge about 8 feet from the floor using a table. (ledge is big enough to sit and stretch out my legs) After setting my bag next to me and taking my notebook out, I put my earbuds in and begin listening to my playlist of Bring Me the Horizon and begin writing down what's happened over the last week. Something feels...Off. I look up to see the doors swing open and an average-sized human boy walks in with medium brown hair and matching brown eyes. I pull out one earbud so I can listen, but I try to act like I'm doing something. The group of female angels begin talking to him while he's at his locker, led by the bitch of the school, Claire. She is trying to talk to him and get to know her prey (normal strategy for her), but he is ignoring her and for a split second our eyes met as he turned away from his locker. I looked away and tried to ignore them, but then she shoved him and yelled, "Hey! I'm fucking talking to you!" He looked at her and rolled his eyes before saying, "Yeah and does it look like I give two shits? Leave me alone you psycho bitch." I snicker a bit at the sight. A human putting that winged bitch in her place. I see her glaring at me and I ignore it and smile slyly at her. She signals for her clique to surround me. I slip my notebook in my bag and jump down, knocking three of them over, rolling once my feet hit the ground and I grab a red smoothie off a table near her and dump it down her expensive-looking white blouse. She lets out a high pitched scream before her and her friends run to the bathroom. He starts laughing and I turn to face him before he puts out his hand and I shake it. The boy looks at me and says "The names Jack. Thanks for that." I look at him before rolling my eyes, "Alex and I didn't do it for you, so I wouldn't get used to it if I were you." Then I walk away to an empty hallway and curl up into a ball to relax and possibly sleep. What was that kid's deal? I mean he has some serious balls simply talking to me, but telling Claire and her squad to pretty much fuck off? He's going to regret that hardcore. I say with his attitude he lasts a week; however, he's proving to be entertaining, so I may have to keep him alive for sheer entertainment. Whatever. I stay in my hall for a while until I hear yelling down the hall that wakes me. Following the noise, I find the source and I stop dead in my tracks. "Dad!"
