1 Where Am I?

I woke up.. My back hurts..

One weird fact about me is that I am randomly waking up on different places. I think I'm just sleepwalking or something like that, but most of the time whenever I wake up, I'll feel my shoulders heavy. I also will feel my legs numb, and my voice raspy; which I really don't know why. Just to avoid hesitations, I'll just think maybe I am too tired—for we all know that sleeping causes energy drainage at some sorts.

Today, I woke up in front of this certain room. It has a wooden door with a gold knob and four small windows with a red colored lock. My back pack seems to tell me that I just came from school. But, why am I here? In fact, I can't even remember where I slept and how I get here but I guess I just fell asleep right here on the floor.

This room seems quite creepy. Yet, this is familiar to me and my psychopath friend, Maureece. I've been here once.

I opened the door and went inside that room. It was totally dark and all I see were colors black and blue. There was only moonlight, coming from the window that lets my eyes see some things inside this room. Nothing was seen in vivid sight. My feet was trembling as I take smaller steps, gently inspecting this weird ambiance I can feel. It felt odd for I know there's someone inside this vicinity before me because I can feel his presence, like an instinct in disguise. With that thought in mind, I know I have to be quiet. So, I slowly took my back pack off and placed it on this round table. Then, I continued taking smaller steps like I'm going to catch someone in act.

While I quietly inspect the chambers of the room one by one, I heard a series of steps out of nowhere—which I knew wasn't mine. It was loud enough for me to hear. Yet, there's something inside of me that causes my feet to take a step back. I grabbed the baseball bat placed beside the sofa eventhough there's this guilt and doubt, forcing me not to follow its trail. I shuddered as the footsteps I am hearing intensifies..

My breathing became rapid; "oh, please. Let me just catch this stranger inside this room..", I whispered as I hold that bat tight—ready to hit that stranger hard.

I hurriedly traced that shaking, stepping sound and went to that certain part of this room. I, piece by piece, traced his steps as I've followed where it is coming from—it was there on a place my friend, Maureece, has known very well—the place where she murders different people.. I know the steps were coming from there. Profoundly.

Maureece is one of those PSYCHOPATHS I've met. But among all of them, she was the only one that's existing in the real world. The other psychopaths I've known were mostly on movies and TV shows.. except this lavish, maniac, and short-tempered girl, Maureece.

I continued following those creepy footsteps. I know what I'm doing is pretty scary, but I have to do this—I have to catch this.. probably a thief, in act.

I gulped as the steps I'm hearing became aggressive—a sign that I am closer to it..

"H-HENRY! O-OH MY GOD! SOMEBODY HELP!! MY BROTHER IS DEAD! MY BROTHER IS DEAD! HELP!" A girl screamed aloud as my ears identified that voice. I shuddered—But wait, Henry is dead? My.. My fiancè is dead? I dropped the baseball bat and felt my ears numb as I concluded what I just heard. I can't even figure out if that scream was just a joke or what, but all I know is that, It was Selena's voice that I've heard—My Fiancé's sister.

The dark ambiance became full of creeps and horrors. My hands are quivering and my sweat fell drop by drop. At the back of my mind, there's a part of me that pushes myself back like I don't want to continue approaching her. She cried and screamed like she was tormented and anguished as my heart races in heartbeat—that's when I knew Henry was really dead..

Taking the risks, taking it all; I convinced myself to come closer unto her. I sighed heavily, and was about to open the lights on. In my mind, I'm telling myself over and over, "I have to do this".

I switched the lightbulb on. And my eyes became larger as its light made everything vivid.. everything I saw was a horrible scene. My eyes focused on Selena, lying on the floor and sobbing as she held the body of his dead brother in her arms.. I suddenly felt a jolt down my spine as it triggered an emotional distress. My hands quivered tremendously as this room suddenly felt like a crimescene. I know this is murder; no evidences, no murder weapon—clean like how professional murderers do their thing.. I shuderred as the hairs at the back of my neck contagiously made my heart race faster. In a flash, I saw an imagery of a murder scene—Henry, my fiancé, was covered with blood.

"CASEY! PLEASE CALL 911! PLEASE!". Selena screamed as she gave me that instruction. She was shaking heavily as I felt her emotional distress.

"W-WHAT HAPPENED?? DID YOU JUST KILL MY FIANCÉ?! SELENA, WHAT HAVE YOU—?" "NO, NO, NO CASEY. YOU'RE WRONG. I DIDN'T DO THIS. I DIDN'T KILL MY OWN BROTHER. I DIDN'T!! PLEASE HELP ME, PLEASE CALL 911!"

Selena was in panic attack and trauma. She was losing her breath with heavy sighs and exhales.. Everything seems to make me in hysteria as I grabbed my phone out of my pocket; I was totally in shock as everything I see is a delineation of scenes I've only seen on movies and television. I don't know.. My body gets stuck between choosing if I would carry henry out and bring him to the nearest hospital, or dial and call 911.

"CASEY! PLEASE! CALL 911! WHY ARE YOU JUST STANDING THERE??"

Selena's voice got me back to my senses. I dialed the numbers on my phone and started calling it. The opposite line started to ring.

"H-HELLO 911. THIS IS EMERGENCY. PLEASE SEND US HELP, NUMBER 258 CHAMSTER STREET, SOUTH ALABAMA. REAL QUICK." My voice constantly shakes as I've said those words.

"Okay Madam. Our team is on their way at your given address. May I know your name please?"

"THIS IS CASEY LIBERMAN. PLEASE COME QUICKLY." I gulped as I saw Henry's blood rushing all over the floor.

"We're on it. Just stay in line with me, madam. Okay?" The operator said as I heard a typing of a computer on his background.

"Y-yes, sir. I'll be just here." I replied, still in shock.

My heart continued to race as I saw Selena trying to perform a CPR to Henry. I felt her desperation to revive her brother.. Pushing his chest back and forth to bring him back to life. I ran unto Henry and checked his pulse; nothing beats, heart is not pumping anymore.

"I'm sorry Selena. We're too late. He's already dead." I told her as I confirmed.

"NOOOOO CASEY!! I CAN'T JUST LET MY BROTHER DIE! IF YOU CAN'T EVEN GIVE ME HELP YOU BETTER SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND DON'T SAY ANYTHING!" She angrily said as she continued performing the CPR. I grabbed her arms and stopped her,

"Selena. Please, listen to me. Take a deep breath. Please calm yourself down." I tried to get her relaxed.

"CALM DOWN, CASEY? HOW CAN I CALM DOWN? MY BROTHER IS NOW DEAD AND YOU'RE EXPECTING ME TO CALM DOWN?"

She stared at me in a sharp-eyed gaze. I suddenly shut my mouth for a while as I've known her emotions were devouring her heart out.

"..AND YOU KNOW WHAT CASEY, YOU SEEM SO FINE. AND THAT MAKES ME THINK YOU DID THIS TO YOUR OWN FIANCÉ.. DIDN'T YOU?"

Her words made me shudder as her eyes looked at me in an angry manner. She is now pointing me as the culprit..

"WHAT—?" I raised my voice, like how she dropped those words in a false conclusion. I suddenly felt a sense of regret being here at this room.

"I THINK NOW IS THE TIME TO ASK THIS.. HAVE YOU EVEN CARED FOR YOUR FIANCÉ, CASEY?" She mumbled.

In that moment, I felt attacked by her words. It echoed in my head as my heart started to whisper the answer to my ears; to be honest, I never loved Henry. I literally haven't—

Way back then, Henry and I were best friends. We are both fans of murder and horror movies—which in reality, is the only thing we have in common.

He was a writer of short stories, prose and poetry, in which I don't really appreciate that much. He is a weirdo, a class valedictorian, a record holder—which I am not amazed in any of.

His mother liked me for him. So, she befriended my relatives especially my mom. I loved how their friendship went, until they both decided to have me and Henry on an arranged marriage.

I loved Henry as a friend. But as a lover?—I think I didn't.

"HAVE YOU EVEN CARED FOR YOUR FIANCÉ, CASEY?"

that question echoed as the words etched in her tongue made me feel sick. I felt an intense feeling within my heart that tells me I should not tell her I really did not.. I shivered, dribs and drabs, with this feeling of guts and gore. I didn't answer her question.

"WELL.. LOOK AT YOU. YOU CAN'T EVEN ANSWER MY QUESTION STRAIGHTFORWARDLY. NOW IT'S QUITE CONVINCING.. YOU KILLED HENRY."

My hidden feeling of anger started to emboss; I looked at her like I am going to devour her whole. Suddenly, I felt like I am a different person.. inch by inch.. I became too irritated of Selena. She became disgusting to my senses. And, this guy.. Henry? Who cares if he died? I don't care.

Looking how silly she was, Selena put her hands together.. and again, place it upon Henry's chest. She started performing CPR all over again.. like duh! She continued reviving her dead brother while I watch her in disgust, half a meter away from them.

I grabbed my cute phone and placed it upon my ear; realizing the 911 call wasn't turned off. The other line echoed, "Are you still there madam? The police was near your address." The other line told me as the phone call continued.

"Good. You're at the right timing. The murderer was still here. She's trying to keep her mess clean." I replied, referring to Selena as the murderer. Anyway, the word fits her—murderer. Doesn't it?

"Wait, murderer, you say?"

"Yes. A murderer. Arrest her immediately as your police drop off. She's not going anywhere." I ended the call as I told the operator on the other line.

I walked away and grabbed my bag, put my lipstick on and confidently ease myself. I should be beautiful seeing Selena being arrested by the police. It must be a nice scenery for me.

"W-wait, Casey. Where are you going? Don't tell me you're going to.. leave us here?"

"Yup. You're right. And you said I've killed Henry? Nope. You did, Selena."

"W-WHAT?— DID YOU JUST.. NO! I DIDN'T KILL MY BROTHER!"

I waved my hands and smiled at her. How poor this girl would be if the police saw her in bleed, while torned in this crimescene she didn't even made.. Well. I don't care.

I turned my back and wave them goodbye.

"See you in Jail, crumple-headed." I know she felt shocked as I've called her that way—that certain nickname I used to give her the very first time Casey unexpectedly created me—her alter ego.

"CRUMPLE-HEADED?? THAT WORD WAS.. WAIT, M—MAUREECE? I THOUGHT YOU'RE GONE.."

She felt nervous. But, being gone? That ain't my thing.. Casey's psychiatrist was too weak to break me.

But to be honest, I'm quite amazed. Selena has known me.. very well.

"Well, you really seem to know everything about me, honey. Anyway, it's nice to see you again." I told her as I walked away, leaving them together on that crimescene I've made. Well, that don't seem to worry them.

By the way, my name's Maureece. Nice meeting you.
