I crawled into my small bed and seemed to only just close my eyes when Sarah (one of the nuns) came to wake me up. The moment I opened my eyes I was out of the bed quicker than a lightning bolt. The morning quickly went by because of endless chores and school time. Noon soon came and I was called to the head office that's where the highest person is stationed. The moment I stepped into the office door was closed and a frightening atmosphere filled the room.

       "We heard by your roommate that you left during the night without telling anyone. So please do tell us where you went.

       Being raised by nuns I was taught never to lie but I don't know why at that moment I felt compelled to do so, but I did.

       I stared down at the floor and kicked at the ground with the heel of my shoe and replied with a meek voice, "I was out secretly training myself to be able to read a bit better from the bible since I stumble over words during reading time. Is that a bad thing Sister Martha?"

The quietness the laid thickly over the room seemed to suffocate me. It was finally broken by Sister Martha's voice saying I could leave now and to continue to work hard and that I could study at any time and anywhere I wanted. The rest of the day seemed to drag on; no matter what work I did, it didn't seem to make the day go by faster.

Last night had finally come, though I wasn't able to leave straight away. When midnight came my foot was already running towards the mountain. Not long after running I came to the location that we met at, I sat down and waited for him to show up. I don't remember much that happened after that, only that everything was dark and it scared me, and I didn't like it one bit. 

I had been running for a while and monsters of all kinds were behind me chasing me, and wouldn't leave me alone, and then all of a sudden a light started to shine through the dark veil. I was awoken suddenly by violent shaking; black hair fell upon my face and mixed in with my golden blonde hair. Red concerned eyes met my icy blue eyes.

       His worried voice showed the inter time he spoke, "Are you ok? You seemed to be having a frightful dream!"

       I laughed, saying it was nothing, then said, "Oh I have yet to ask you your name. My name is Aurora. What is yours?"

Hesitantly he spoke, "My name is Sage." 

"I really like your name it suits you very much." I looked at him with a great big smile on my face, only to be graced with a teary face.

"What's wrong? Did I say something wrong? Please stop crying, it makes me want to cry to."

       A few minutes had gone by and Sage finally had calmed down a lot.

"I'm sorry, I didn't intend to cry, it's just that no one has ever been this kind to me before, I've only been showed the horrid side of them." He said that all with a small sad smile on his face.

       Even though the time that I met him was short, it felt like decades to me. It pained me when he seemed to be miserable, yet had to hide it all.

"I'll never let anyone be mean to you ever again. Okay!" I stared at him full of determination.

I had already been thinking that even though he is a guy the lonely look on his face makes him almost look like a pitiful baby lamb just laying there waiting for the ferocious wolf to finish him in one stroke. I didn't really like that so I will protect him with all my strength.   

He looked as though he didn't know what to say, so we just stayed there for a while, I finally got up, breaking the silence, and grabbed him by the hand and began to drag him towards a small stream.

I knelt by it while he stood behind me. I turned around, "This stream is just like you. It started as just a small crack with little water always depending on the rain to provide its strength even now that it is able to provide the wildlife nutrient it still has to depend on the rain for life." I knelt there and began to play with a pebble only to skip it across the water. I watched as the ripples expanded and then slowly dissipate.    

Sage only stood behind me silently as if expecting something, then he sat beside me,

"Hey, do you think that one day I will be allowed to go beyond the boundaries of the trees?" 

His face only showed a sad expression that I never thought a human of any kind could possibly have.

I hugged him, "I believe that the day you gather up the courage to leave this place that has been a jail to you will be sooner than you think." 

We stayed like that for quite some time, only hearing each other breathing and our hearts beating. 

    We sat there in silence for some time and before a long day approached quickly. 

"I have to go soon or Sister Martha will get mad at me for coming back late." The truth was that I had a bad feeling that if I didn't go back something bad would happen at the orphanage. As soon as I got up I quicken my pace.

He looked at me with a dejected face, "Do you really have to go. Can't you stay here tonight, please?" Sage seemed to be so lonely, though I guess it would be if you were the only one living in this place by yourself. 

"Well… Well, I guess I can stay the night, but I have to get back before everyone wakes up, alright." All the doubt I had held previously all vanished. 

The darkness swallowed the path as we walked. I couldn't figure out how he was able to walk with such ease as and I was stumbling over tree roots that were jutting out of the ground.

We hadn't been running for a long time when he came to a sudden stop causing me to run straight into his back. 

"Ow, what was that for?" I rubbed my hurting nose and peeked around him. There right in front of me was something out of a fairy tale. It was just a small cave but inside of it, it seemed to glow. There was a bright goldish substance covering the wall. In the middle was a tiny fire, just slowly flickering about. What looked like a bed was made a cup of some kind of moss. 

I walked up towards the cave as if a strange. Nothing around me was noticed, "How did you make all of this?" I turned around and looked at him in astonishment.
