3 Ch 3: Freya

After Dahlia took Freya, she continued to teach Freya many of her secrets. By doing so it allowed Freya to grow into a very powerful witch. Due to her resentment toward her sister Esther, Dahlia convinced Freya that her mother no longer wanted her. Dahlia explained to Freya that she was the only family she had left and the most important thing in life was the bond of family. Dahlia planned on using Freya in order to gain more power. Once Freya had more control over her powers and had mastered the basics of magic, Dahlia led five-year-old Freya through a spell of Dahlia's own creation. This spell would bind their magic until one of them died. This not only augmented Freya's magical ability but also allowed Dahlia to channel Freya to give herself more power.

Over the next two decades, Dahlia continued to train Freya in the Dark Arts of magic until she was nearly as strong as her aunt. Dahlia learned that due to Freya being a firstborn of Dahlia and Esther's bloodline, she possessed a devastating amount of raw magical powers. Because of this Freya found it very difficult to control and caused many incidents where her powers overwhelmed her with disastrous results. In Freya's late-20s to early-30s, Dahlia had come up with a spell that could give her and Freya immortality and invulnerability that was otherwise unavailable to witches. However, like most magic, this would come at a price. Freya and Dahlia would be put under a magical sleep for nearly a century. While the two would be sleeping their magic would only grow and become stronger and they would not age. After sleeping for nearly a century the two would awaken for one single year of life before having to repeat this cycle. During this time of being awake, the two could age an entire year. When Dahlia explained to Freya that they both would have to do the spell Freya refused.

"The only thing you wish to accomplish Dahlia will turn into a curse. I will not help you." Before Freya could say anything else on the matter Dahlia grabs Freya by her arms and forces her to participate in the spell.

"One day child you will thank me for this gift I am giving you. You will have eternal life thanks to me, you ungrateful child!" Once the spell was complete Dahlia carried Freya, who had become weakened due to the difficult spell, to their beds and both fell asleep.

In the early 15th century Dahlia and Freya were allowed to live awake. During this time Freya fell in love with a man named Mathias. Her feelings for Mathias were so strong that she broke her number rule to never bare a child because her child would be subjected to the same life she lived. When Freya was almost due to deliver their firstborn son, Mathias attempted to help Freya flee from Dahlia. However, Dahlia stopped them and punished them by putting a death hex on Mathias causing him to die in front of Freya.

"Why would you do this to me!" Freya screamed out in agony.

"You were taking what was rightfully mine. You and that unborn child belong to ME!" Dahlia just stared at Freya in disbelief of her betrayal.

Infuriated at Dahlia and devastated she lost the love of her life, Freya runs into their home and drinks an entire bottle of Dahlia's most potent poison in hopes of freeing herself from the pain of her existence under her aunt's rule. Hours later Freya awakens to learn the truth that the spell that Dahlia granted them both immortality protects them from all conventional harm, including poison. However, the spell did not extend to her unborn son. Freya became to loath Dahlia more for causing her so much pain by taking her one true love and now causing her to become a monster and killing her own child.

After another nearly century of sleep, in 1814 Dahlia and Freya awaken again for another year. One night, while Dahlia was out gathering food Freya, manages to escape. Wanting to know more about her family Freya makes her way back to find out where her family has gone. She hears rumors of her family being in New Orleans. After sleeping for another hundred years Freya makes her way to New Orleans in 1914. She attends a Christmas party that is being thrown by her siblings and pretends to be Kol's, her younger brother, date so her siblings wouldn't know who she was.

"And what is a pretty girl like you doing with someone like my brother Kol?" Freya turns around startled by a woman's voice.

"I'm sorry?" Freya said confused by the woman's question.

"I'm sorry, how rude of me! I'm Rebekah. Kol, the man you're with, is my brother." Rebekah said smiling and gesturing toward Kol.

"Oh! I'm sorry my name is Elizabeth. It is so nice to meet more of Kol's family. Is there anyone else I should know?" Rebekah seemed very pleased by the question.

"Well up there is my oldest brother Finn" Rebekah points toward the staircase.

And there he stood. (The only brother I ever grew to know and love. My beloved brother Finn. He was so young when Dahlia took me, but he was old enough to remember me. I will have to trail carefully around him.)

"Then right above him on the next step is my next oldest brother Elijah. You'll learn he is the noblest man you will ever meet. If he gives you his word, he lives up to it." Elijah looked so proper while standing there.

"Then right up above him is our half-brother Klaus. He is pretty much King of New Orleans." Rebekah said rolling her eyes. "Or so he thinks." She mumbled under her breath.

"Do not dare cross him. He will make sure you live to regret it." Rebekah smiled and walked away to go stand on the staircase as Klaus started to get everyone's attention.

"I would like to personally thank everyone for attending this most special event. My family and I have worked very hard in order to obtain peace and tranquility here in New Orleans. While many members of our family have maintained order here and lived by my rules, one has seemed to find a way to undermine me over and over again." Klaus makes his way down to Kol and stakes him in his heart.

The crowd stays calm while you can see the horror in his family's faces. "This is what happens to those who undermine me."

To Freya's horror of the monster Klaus had become she leaves the party without saying a word. She finds her way to a cottage where she places herself in a coffin and repeats her sleeping cycle for another hundred years.
