Chapter Seventeen

"Let the first of many meetings begin"

And so the meeting started with Elijah bringing up an issue to address.

"What is our plan for growth? Do we sire more people into our clan or do we take in every person we deem fit to work with us?"

"Both"

They all look towards Kol, who was the one that spoke up. Their silence and look was enough permission to continue what he meant

" I mean, take a look at everyone present here, there is one who isn't a vampire like us. So it shows our magnanimity towards other species. Why end with him. Besides our main goal is to have a firm ground, what stops us from having others helping us."

"I understand what you mean. But there is a reason we are known as a clan and not just any organization or faction. I believe there should be a sense of restrictions. Besides we agreed that only the lineage of Darion is allowed in our clan, not every kind of species can just join us" Elijah stated

"Then we make a condition right. We can decide who and how a person can become a part of this family..." Rebekah said before she was interrupted

"Clan. Not family, we need not mistake what we are building now do we?" Klaus corrected. He had always been sensitive about the concept of family ever since he was little.

Everyone took note of that, and for awhile no body spoke up, until Henrik spoke.

"I believe what Kol meant is that, as of right now we already have three families, we the Mikaelsons, being the founders and secret head, then Darion's, The Iseldir family, and finally Aya's, The Al-Rashid family. One Vampire family, one druidic family and One Vampire-witch family. With this, inviting another family into our clan would not be a bad idea. But for now we will deal with the ones available." Henrik gave a short break making the information sink in and after he saw that they had taken it in, he continued

"Each family should stand for a purpose, to enable easier division of labor, assignment and duties. When we see fit to add another family in the council, the duties can be divided more. However, I believe this clan is a gathering of Vampires, so even if we decide to add other species, we must first consider the number of seats on the Munins"

"Well, I say no more than seven seats amongst the Munins, three already taken, two more can be occupied by a more trustworthy family outside of our species, leaving the last two for another Vampire family to occupy. Preferably, one sired by us" Kol suggested and the others, after moments of deliberation agreed to the idea.

"Well, I agree with Henrik and Kol, and I can as well decide the Iseldir family will be in charge of the clan's business as well as diplomacy between our clan and the outside world, whether the human or supernatural, leave the management to me..till we have capable hands to take the mantle" Darion suggested.

"And the discipline and internal affairs of the clan can be left to the Al-Rashid family. And any other duties we could take, besides before I became a vampire, Al-Rashid were people of a warrior bloodline, it isn't much to bring our legacy here" Aya stated, adding her own contribution to the discussion

"Well, I do not know what I would do seeing that I have no family of..." Sage tried to speak before.

"You're a Mikaelson...soon. so you would represent us" Finn interrupted and Every original shot a glance towards him but said nothing about his statement. He had every right as them to choose whoever would be a part of the family and since he had chosen, who where they to object.

"Well, looks like we are moving along, let's not dwell on one issue, what's the next on the agenda, Darion?" Klaus said.

"You all must have been brought to light about the world as we know it. The many families, clans and factions around the supernatural world. What I do know is , the moment we decide to show our hands, they will turn their eyes towards us." Darion replied

"And are there people who we need to watch out for that might be a hindrance to us?" Elijah spoke

"There could be....there could none..."

"Stop beating around the bush and say it Darion" Kol says a little irritated, not minding the atmosphere

"I agree with Kol on this one" Finn speaks up for the second time.

"Very well, the reason I said that is because, many factions have their reasons for rising to the top. From the whispers I have heard, some for profit in anything, war, slavery, gold, anything that can benefit them. Some for supremacy, whatever tickles their fancy. Some to keep the balance. Others, just to hunt whatever they see as nature's mistake.

For the first, The Giovanni Clan, involved in anything profitable and proficient in the art of necromancy..."

"Wait... isn't the Giovanni a vampire clan? And Necromancy a form of witch magic?" Rebekah cuts him off to ask. This got the attention of everyone.

"Well, I have no idea how it happened and how they became what they are but it is said that the patriarch had dabbled into mystical things and from there became what he was and turning his family. Just a little over two centuries old from what I hear"

"Did our mother really get the short end of stick that we couldn't even perform magic?" Kol mutters but clear enough for others to hear

"I disagree, in fact she did us a favor. I have been studying us for a while and I figured that the cost of losing the witch's gift in our 'generation' was the biggest scam against the world for the things we got" Henrik state, his eyes looking at the original siblings and not wanting to say too much to outsiders. Obviously he was communicating with them telepathically from the facial reactions of the others. He didn't want to expose too much now for others. Secrecy is still their motto.

"Moving on, if I can guess from their history, they might not be an obstacle to us, as long as we have value that can benefit them. For the second category, The Volturi. They believe themselves superior, each having an ability of their own, hence, the sense of superiority. Their origin is still a mystery to us, older than the Giovannis by more than 500 years. When they get to hear of us, especially you six, they will definitely appear. The next category, they really have no issue as long as we have no reason to harm the world. The schools of sorcerers and monks around the world are under this category. Then we have the hunters, born as a human-angel hybrids, the shadow hunters, capable of many feats, destined to protect the earth from the forces of evil and any they deem as such. Nevertheless, as scary as they can be, they can be open minded as well. Then we have the paid butchers. The Assamite clan, the only vampire assassins, they are the enemies of everyone and no one at the same time. Today they may be paid to assassinate you, tomorrow they could be paid to assassinate the same who targeted you. Business is just that... business.

And finally, we have the werewolves, werebeasts as well...as long as you're concerned, they will attack. Besides you're their nemesis"

Klaus scoffs at that, but the meeting goes on.

After all deliberation concerning the growth of the clan as Klaus listened, he finally speaks up.

"I think that will be all for now. The main objective is to stay as quiet as possible while we grow. That said, I would like to raise a motion to create a symbol of power amongst us. Although, I represent authority, there would be another who shall represent power. One who would be our shadow. The executioner if need be. Our Noblesse, protector of what this clan....our legacy stands for if ever we need him...HENRIK MIKAELSON."

Henrik who heard this was lost, still not understanding what was going on

"""""""Agreed!!!"""""""

Everyone responded in agreement to the decision.

"I do not understand...even if you don't do this, I would still protect this family." Henrik states like it was a normal thing to do.

"You are the first original tribrid amongst us, strongest in combat, and magic and you are the one much more balanced in nature to know what to do right. Besides if I get all the power now, who would stop me. Right brother?" Klaus replies bringing back his signature smirk on his face. "As much as I hate to admit it, we need you brother, to judge and protect when necessary. As of this moment, your words are the same as mine. I believe as time goes on, even if we do forget our purpose, You wouldn't and who better than to bring us back on track, hmmm, brother?"

Henrik became short of words, not knowing what to say, he gave a subtle nod of acknowledgment.

And so that brought an end to the first meeting of [The Immortal Council].
