Info gathering

As we guided into our chamber, I was recalling our previous audience with the king.

After introduced himself, Aultcray Melromarc XXXII the king of the kingdom where we were summoned explained the reason behind the four heroes summoning. Afterward, with some bark of protests flying about in the throne room courtesy of the four heroes to gain advantages, and they appeared to be excited with the prospect of becoming heroes in another world, then they introduced themselves, after that the king dismissed us or he tried to.

"oi! how about those children are you going to send them back or what?", the spear hero, Motoyasu if I heard right.

"right, what are you even thinking when summoning them?" the edgy-lord or the sword hero, Ren, joined in.

"I agree, there are no honor or justice summoning children here whether your world burned or destroyed", the EMIYA wannabe, Itsuki the bow hero, concluded himself.

"still, are the king even tried to summon them, maybe they just accidentally summon them?" the shield hero, Naofumi, trying to reason with his fellow heroes, he seems normal so I don't have any fancy title to him.

The king closed his eyes, I think he just tried to build himself an image for the heroes, "the shield hero is right, we accidentally summoned them" wow, for once the king acknowledged the shield hero as he tried to ignore him before out of contempt or maybe just simple reason, because he is a shield, therefore, he doesn't have enough firepower to contend with the waves. Oh, how wrong he is.

"and this never happened before, so we actually at a loss here. And the returning ritual will only affect the four heroes, regardless we will try our best to find the method to bring them back", the king contemplated on this.

"I think that won't be needed", I joined in.

"is that so. What's your name? you haven't introduced yourself" the EMIYA wannabe lowering himself and giving me a smile.

"ah, just call me Will and this is my step-sister Altria." As I introduced Altria, who hides behind me, no doubt she didn't want to do the talking.

"then, tell us why you don't want to come back." The edgy lord said with his arm crossed.

"well you see Ren-san, we just sneak out ourselves from the scary orphanage we just lived in after mama and papa died, we heard a lot of screams in the night so we can't sleep at all, the adult said it only happen when someone do a bad thing, but we just sneak ourselves out of the orphanage to find a good place to nap, and I don't think it's a good thing to do, and If we come back.." using cheery bright tone and scared one as I lowering my voices down.

"I see, sorry for recalling your bad memories will-kun." the EMIYA wannabe said, as the atmosphere went to gloomy.

"this is the room you will stay in, esteemed guests", as she opened the door for us.

"if you need something, please don't hesitate to call us. Well then, please enjoy your stay", the maid bowed then closed the door leaving me and Altria alone in a big room with a king-sized bed.

Altria doesn't waste any time, as she plopped herself into the bed. With a knowing look, I pulled several book and sweets from my inventory and set into the side of the bed. Looks like someone pampered her too much, huh.

Sitting beside her, I open the shop to search a book about this world. Huh, weird I can't find any book regarding this world at all. I scanned the shop to make sure if I just missed it, waves of information came through me. Huh, it seems the system disabled any spoiler for every world I currently in, how convenient. It seems there's no other choice then.

"Altria, I will head out for a bit. Stay put here okay"

"uhm, take care out there mas-will", she still engrossed with her book and sweets.

Reaching the hallway, I was greeted with the earlier maid who guided us to our room. "good night will-sama, Is there something you need? If it were food then we can bring it to your room or maybe you want to join the heroes who are currently in the dining room."

"no, thanks. I just want to ask is there any library in this castle?"

"yes, and I can guide you there will-sama."

Then I accept her offer, "certainly" she bowed her head.

Reaching the door of the library, the maid bowed her head to me then bid me farewell.

"oh? someone visiting a library this late? Ah, aren't you the kid who got summoned this evening", I was greeted with a young voice when I opened the door.

Turning in the direction of the voice, a young woman sat in a desk beside the door. she was a young woman in her thirties, with braided brown hair, and she wears glasses.

"ah, hello there will-kun, is there something you want?" the librarian asked me.

"yes, onee-san. Actually, have we met before?"

"no, I was there in the throne room, when I heard the king attempted and successfully summoned the four heroes", She shook her head.

"attempted? is it forbidden or something to summon the heroes?." If it were like that, then the king can't be trusted.

"oh? Aren't you very sharp yourself will-kun? Well, to be honest, this country is actually run by the queen, but she's now gone outside the country to rally each nation for fighting the waves and negotiate where the heroes should be summoned." She continued with an amused tone, "as you know, waves are actually a world-wide catastrophe, and there are only four heroes exist, what do you think will happen if a country summoned them all?" she was clearly testing me, yet I didn't hesitate to answer her.

"there are only four heroes for such world-wide disaster, thus making them a precious commodity. Plus a hero is a powerhouse in their own right, and anyone who can control them or gain their trust would no doubt have enormous political power."

"right!" she giggled, "ah, why you not chosen to become one of the heroes, isn't that a waste?". Ignoring her last comment, it means the king intends to exploit the heroes to further his agenda or he is just a foolish old man, if this were true then war could break out between nation should this information reached other countries. And the queen, she seems didn't have good relations with the king, I could side between them or interfere as a middle party should conflict break out.

"nee-san, don't you feel bad for sending a child into disaster in the form of a battlefield?".

"Mou! I can't help it. Those heroes I expect them to come here, and inquire me a question or something, this is must be the king agenda to keep them away from here, still can you tell me about the heroes world is it true that they actually didn't have magic there?" she asked like a fangirl meeting their idols.

I sighed at this. After a long night discussion with her, at least now I have some decent and general knowledge about this world.
