Blood for the Motherland

In a forest far away from the battlefield...

Two groups are in a tense standoff, one party is composed of Filipino Deserters and Liberal Mestizos, while the other party is composed of Russian Mercenaries and some Filipino Revolutionaries, both groups are wary of each other as both parties feel the tense atmosphere behind them...

Sonny Nuestro is a Filipino Revolutionary that is an expert in social and interpersonal relationships, he is one of the best shooters of Mauricio as well as the one who handles most of the disputes between those people in the Revolutionary Order in the North, he is one of the most respected people in the army because of this and Mauricio is actually planning on promoting him from a regular soldier to a mid-level officer, this negotiation meeting is one of the tests that Mauricio has given to him as a type of training to improve upon how he manages his people.

Feeling the tense atmosphere, Sonny engaged the other party first by stepping forward and greeting them;

He put his rifle down and fixed his posture and tidied his clothes, and then he smiled while gesturing the other party to calm down.

He said; "Excuse me for being rude, but I'd like to introduce our party first as a sign of peace, we are members of the Northern Division of the Revolutionary Order under the direct supervision of Liutenant General Mauricio Melchor, I am Sonny Nuestro, a former gobernadorcillo of Ilocos Norte, we were engaged by your people for some kind of negotiation and here we are, I am willing to make my men put down their weapons as long as you agree put down yours, we are of the same race and we should not continue upon killing each other right men?" Sonny eloquently and smoothly destabilized the situation which relieved the other party and led them to letting down their guard.

The other party is led by a Filipino named Crispulo Amancio who replied;

"I agree with you my compadre, we came here and asked for this meeting to talk about such things, it has been a long time since we Filipinos have tasted freedom, for more than 300 years we were under these Spaniards! We toiled for them, gave them our blood, sweat and tears and what did we get in return?! Our families are starving, our women are getting raped by friars and we, the men of the household can't give our loved ones a good life! We as a group have always resented this way of life and now that the opportunity to change things around has come, we were forced to sign up and fight for them! We were forced to see our comrades killed and we were forced to kill our countrymen! We can't bear any of this anymore! That's why we came here, to help you break the stalemate and take this fortress down, I don't care if it's true or not that your main forces have conquered the capital, I just don't want this to continue! I don't want to fight for those people whom I hate with of my guts! I don't want to continue killing my fellow filipinos! I'm tired of everything! WE ARE TIRED OF EVERYTHING! Please! Help us bring down this regime! We are willing to switch sides! I can't stomach this farce any longer!" As Crispulo said those words, he and his people are seen shedding tears, they kneeled in front of Sonny and kissed the mud below him as they said with snot and tears all over their faces;

"If our motherland needs to shed the blood of those who abused her children, then we are willing to be the instrument to make it happen!"

Sonny was flabbergasted by the sudden turn of events, he was under the impression that these people switched sides because of the pressure and the lack of rations, as a matter of fact, his people threw down their guns but they still have their sidearms hidden inside their clothes, ready for anything that happens especially if things turn sour between the two groups.

The two groups of people then continued their discussion and went on to construct a plan to let Mauricio's division in to the Spanish defense lines by sneaking some inside and sabotaging the bunkers and the turrets stationed in key places of the trenches.

After their meeting, both groups went to their own ways and prepared for their plans, the group led by Crispulo went back to their camp and immediately told their filipino comrades about the good news and prepared to station themselves on the western side of the battlefield where they will start their plans of sabotage to help the Revolutionary Order.

Sonny's group on the other hand went straight to Sergio and Mauricio's tent to report to their superiors about the development that happened in their meeting, this development led to a new plan that will help Sergio take the fortress and complete the task given to them by Renaldo to conquer and stabilize the whole northern theatre.

The curtains of the northern theatre is fully prepared for a grand show that will be told in years to come as one of the most important battles of the Philippine Revolution.
