5 Day-off

She busied herself with entertaining guests and room services. Just to distract herself. And it helps her a lot. When she is tired, she falls asleep fast. And that is somewhat peaceful because she can't dream something... terrifying. When something triggers her about that thing, she will leave immediately because she can't handle it. Dra. Kyline also recommended that before so she can calm down and live peacefully.

Little did she know, since that day, she knew she would never be at ease. She will never live a peaceful life. She knows one day will come when someone will look for her and they will ask her what happened years ago. That's why she has no permanent address. Whenever someone asks where she came from, why she moved and other personal things, she gets scared. She sees every person around her suspiciously. She doesn't have many friends except for Althea, Penelope, and Mark that became her friends when she moved here to the city. But still, she is open to them yet detached.

"You have 2 days off tomorrow, right?" Penelope asked while they were fixing their things in the locker room.

"Yes. How about you?"

"On Sunday. You are going to your grandmother?" Lanie closed her locker and put her bag on her shoulder. Penelope also finished doing her things.

"Yeah, it's good that I have 2 days off. I can stay there longer. You know, she's alone there." Penelope just nodded and didn't want to ask any more about that.

Lanie bid her goodbye again to Penelope before starting her car's engine. She decided to go to the grocery before she went home. While she's pushing her cart, she is looking for the foods that don't have stocks at her home. She turned to the meat section but she noticed that someone was following her. That man also followed her ever since she entered the grocery store but she just shrugged it off.

Maybe he is one of the customers? She thought. It is just a coincidence that they are going to the same section, right?

Creep immediately covered her system because of these thoughts of her.

Meanwhile, the man picked up his phone and got some beers.

"You stupid guy, can't you see that you are scaring her?" The man on the other line said.

"What? I just wanted some beers but she suddenly appeared! What if she noticed me, huh?"

"Stupid. Pay quickly or else you will make her panic more!"

Lanie quickly got meat and went to the cashier. She turned to the man but he suddenly vanished.

"$48, Ma'am." She is being paranoid right now. 'What if he appears and kidnaps me? Forcing me to talk about what happened before?' She panicked.

"Ma'am? Are you okay?" The lady at the cashier got her attention.

"W-what? Ah, yes." She gave her payment to her. She bit her lower lip when she saw the man coming. She breathed, trying to calm herself. He stopped at her side; he placed his beer at the counter. That is when Lanie finally calmed down because he's just a customer. Meanwhile, the guy felt sorry for her for being paranoid like this but also understood her situation.

"Thank you." Lanie got her change and went out as fast as she could. She went to her car quickly. Beside her car was a red sports car. A man watched her as she wanted to leave the place as quickly as she could. The man just shook his head. This girl will be hard to tame, he thought.

While Lanie was on her way, she can't count how many times she looked at her car mirrors. She was paranoid. She wanted to live a normal life, a life where she will never live in fear and darkness. She knew what she needed to do to have that kind of life but... she just can't.

Meanwhile, after Lanie left the parking lot, the man in a black hoodie entered the red sports car.

"Did I scare her that badly?" he asked the man beside him. The man only glared at him. "And you know that she was also here," he added.

"I felt her energy." the man answered before starting the car.

The next day, Lanie left early in the morning to go to her grandmother's house. She chose to stay in her province. She needs to drive 5 long hours just to get there. Her grandmother's house is also far from the province market. Her province is indeed beautiful. She was looking at the vast rice field while feeling the fresh air.

She parked her car in front of her grandmother's house. Half of her grandmother's house was made of stones and the other half was wood and bamboo. She smiled when she saw her on the balcony, watering her plants.

"Grandma!" she waved her right hand. Her grandmother also waved at her and excitedly went in her direction.

Lady opened her compartment to get the groceries she bought. "Oh my! You don't have to bring me these; I can just buy these at the lowest price."

"It's okay, grandma. I bought this for you not to go there, you'll be tired." They went inside her humble house. It has a small television, tables, and chairs, made up of bamboo, a small kitchen, one comfort room, and two rooms. It's refreshing here. The city is very far from this. Here, is calm and peaceful. A place where she wants to live but can't.

"How many days will you be staying here, Lanie?" She is fixing the groceries while her grandmother is cooking their meal.

"Two days only."

"It's good to know, you can rest. The falls have become more beautiful now. They built cottages for the tourists. You should go there so that you can relax while you are here." She just smiled at her and continued to help her prepare the table. She has been with her Grandma Cesille since she was a kid. She was the mother of her father. Her parents died in a car accident when she was eight years old. They were both doctors, going on a medical mission and that accident happened.

The money that Lady's parents left was used for her studies. They have a house in the city but she doesn't go there anymore. Her Grandma Cesille was one of the maids in Gerpacio's mansion.
