Bitter memories

Each Summer holiday was spent camping with my family deep into the woods around the shores of Atlanta's Lake. My family owned a cabin around that area. My Father had a hobby of bringing pets down to his lab. I remember he had about ten wolves in his lab. At a young age, all I saw was a bunch of dogs living in their cages. My father would say they were a rare kind of specimen. That was it until I saw one turn into human and massacred my parents right in front of me  under the full moons glow. The Death of my parents made me grow up as a lonely child and their death made me design my career path based on their dreams and that was to become the best scientists of new inventions.

Since my parents' death, I have been haunted by nightmares. I wake up every day with sweat and breathing so hard like I had run a marathon. Each time I see a black furred wolf chasing after me and am on my knees begging to be let alive.  I wished their death was behind me, so that I could be able to live without the nightmares, but they were so vivid such that I had gotten used to them.

Here I am in my lab looking at the journals my father left behind.

"Prof. Lewis, you have to come right away. The Beta has started kicking," had to say Chloe.

"How do you know about the beta?" I had to ask since I have never explained any detail to her.

"I am sorry Professor, I heard one of the scientists talking about it, hence the rush to inform you," had to say Chloe.

I saw her nervousness and the fear written on her face. I could not wait to see all the werewolves tremble and kneel before me while begging me to let them live. I don't know why, but such thoughts made me anticipate the new invention I was working on once it got to be a success. Chloe was one werewolf I was holding in custody because I had captured her whole family. She even explained to me the werewolf tales which were so hard to believe but I forced myself to believe them anyway since I witnessed the death of my parents. My Father's Journal was quite helpful also. I was particularly interested in knowing the history of this particular lineage of werewolves who were fighters. I had to study one of them up close  and to do that I needed Chloe to lead me to them.

I examined the human baby which was put in the incubator but unfortunately, the kicking was due to stress which led to its death. A death in the lab meant one thing to a scientist, it meant I failed again. I grabbed Chloe by the neck and squeezed it. She struggled to breath, but I had to continue chocking her.

"You will get me one of the puppies from that strong lineage of wolves and you will bring me that baby within this week. If you fail, one of your family members is going to die," I had to say.

"Yes Professor. I will do that," had to say Chloe

"Here is your punishment young lady, Walk on all fours and start barking like a dog," I had to say.

Chloe's POV

I did as I was told which was so humiliating. I am a werewolf and being told to bark like a dog was an insult. Under different circumstances I would have crutched his gloomy face.  First of all, Prof.  Lewis was heartless. He had captured my family and was holding them hostage and conducting experiments with them. I couldn't believe that the only way out was to bring one of the Tatianas wolves and that was a problem. I lost the fight and I didn't want to go back to them because I was embarrassed without my fangs. If I won the fight, I would have owned the strong wolves of treasurer land and use them to fight Prof. Lewis. I failed my parents on that one. I was even ashamed to face them one more time. I was afraid of being told I was a failure. The only way I had to redeem myself was to remain undetected while kidnapping one of the smallest werewolves belonging to Treasure land.

I spent days roaming around Treasure land woods in the hopes of finding my entry but it was to no avail. With one of my fangs gone, I was a weak wolf hence it was easy to lose a battle. I saw some two little puppies playing on the beach and I knew they belonged to Treasure Land. I injured myself with the hopes of getting attention. I cried out and within minutes the two little puppies came forward.

"You are breeding, what should we do?" had to say Lily.

"Well since am the oldest, why don't you go call for help and I will stay here with the lady," had to say Jones.

"No I will stay here. You are the fastest runner," argued Lily.

"Oh right, I am. I will be here shortly with help. You have to hang in there," had to say Jones.

I listened to the two as they argued on who was to stay with me. I really hoped the boy would go for help because it was going to be easy to catch the girl. Just like I was hoping for, the boy left me with the girl and as soon as the boy was out of sight, I hit the girl on the head and she fell on a rock. I quickly carried her to the Van and I sped off. I had to go to the Lab right away. I didn't know how long the young puppy would remain unconscious.  From the stories I heard, the Tresure Land puppies were even stronger compared to a one fang wolf. That was how much I had been reduced to. I was not worth of any fight anymore even to a ten-year-old puppy.

To be on the safer side, I injected her with drugs and tied her up. I got to the Lab and it seemed Prof. Lewis had already instructed the scientists to prepare for an experiment. I handed the girl over to them and I was told to leave the country right away in case I had been spotted and so I did. I forgot to ask the reason the professor was butchering the wolves like that. I wondered if I was going to end up like my helpless parents who were caged like other animals. Often times I had pleaded with the Doctor to at least give them a free room, but all my efforts remained unfruitful. I knew however that something big was underway from being developed in that lab.
