1 Chapter 1: I will become a Vampire Hunter!

It was a sunny day but not like hot; it was September, after all. A perfect day to start a pretty grim story. Anyway, it was the first day of school and Adam had just transferred to Sofia High. It was a normal school, too normal...

"Well, here I go!! New school, new life, new friends, new problems to be had, new thoughts of how meaningless reality is... No, no, no, Adam collect yourself. This is exactly why you came here. IT IS TIME TO HUNT SOME VAMPIRES, I hope!!!"

He shouted in front of the school gate, as if he was the main character of a story revolving around him, and as if no students were entering the school. Needless to say, Adam did not leave a fantastic first impression on his soon-to-be-classmates.

As he entered the school yard, one thing was apparent. The school wasn't as he expected it to be. It was, well, normal, too normal, he taught. He didn't expect blood on the walls or the first person he met to be a vampire, but at least the atmosphere could've been a little more unsettling. When he was transfering, there was no school website and that intensified his interest, but in the end it was a let down. He thought that maybe there was no website because the school was hiding a dark secret. Nope, it was just it was so unremarkable and in such a remote place in town, that they thought it didn't need one. There was no gymnasium, no football, baseball or even soccer team. Not that he came here to become part of any of them. He had one mission to become a vampire hunter.

"In those documents addressed to my father, it was written that for the last year in Hoperoot vampire activity is 2000% higher than it should be.", he thought to himself, as he was walking,"Maybe, they come out at night. Pfffft, of course they do - they are vampires, everybody knows the sun burns them. Vikki was right; I, really, am stupid."

He entered his new homeroom, 3D, on the third floor. The teacher and students, some of which heard him shout about hunting vampires, were already there.

"Who do we have here?", said the teacher, as she adjusted her glasses,"Mister Adam Handler, I presume. Late on the first day. Way to make a good first impression on your new classmates and homeroom teacher."

She was clearly ridiculing him and some of the students were laughing just quietly enough not to get on the teacher's bad side, if she even had a good one. This, however, didn't affect Adam in the slightest. Maybe it was that he was too concentrated on his goal or there was the possibility he was bullied before or, and most likely, the fact he was clueless in social situations, he didn't seem to mind.

"Well, Mister Handler, you may introduce yourself."

"Hello everyone, I am Adam Handler and I transferred here from Red Racoon High in New Montero. I live alone and don't know anyone from Hoperoot! I HOPE WE CAN BECOME GOOD FRIENDS!!!"

The laughing stopped. His introduction was simple and cheerful, just as he appeared to be. Everyone thought the same. He was new and kind of dumb, but he wasn't bad at the least. Even the teacher's darkened eyes brightened a little, although her expression remained the same.

"Very well. You may sit behind Emma.", the teacher said as she pointed to a free spot behind a brown haired girl, "You may ask her any questions you have, about the school or the class. Anyway..."

Adam sitted down on his desk, that was complete with carvings of all matter of words and phrases that I will leave for fight or an emotional scene, but "Sharapova is a bitch *peepee drawing*" was one of the many.

"Ha, Miss Sharapova is her name then. At least it seems she is harsh with people that are not new as well..."

"Don't let them or Miss Lena get to you.", his thoughts were interrupted by the girl sitting in front, "Hi, I am Emma. Nice to meet you."

"So her name is Lena Sharapova.", he said to Emma, pointing at the explicit carving on his desk.

"Yes, she does come out as a little bit sharp, perhaps, but I can assure you she is a great teacher. If she wasn't she may have sitted you next to one of the people who laughed."

"If she did that she wouldn't be just sharp, but straight evil. On the topic of evil do you know someone that actually fits that description in this school. A vampire, perhaps?"

"So it is true that you talked about them. Do you believe in them or something? You know they are not real, right?"

"You never know. So any vampiric looking fellas in here?" he continued to press. She didn't seem to mind. She looked intrigued by him so she tried to respond.

"Well, Miss Lena said to help out with any questions you have so let me think..."

She taught for like 5 seconds, because only one person from the school came to mind.

"There is this boy from the third year..."

As she said that, the door of the classroom opened with a slam and a figure entered. He was around 175cm tall with a black hair with two white strands above each eye. As for clothes he was in black Abibas tracksuit, which was clearly unoriginal. He seemed in a hurry and although Adam couldn't make it out, he also seemed a little worried.

"I thought I wouldn't have to see you again Mister Roads.", said Miss Lena with clear disgust, "You should go and terrorize your new teachers."

"Oh, don't worry Miss Lena this time I happen to pay someone else a visit and why this attitude again. Did you perhaps see happy children on the way to work today?", everyone laughed, "Anyways, I am in a hurry. I just came to check out the new transfer guy."

As he said that he walked up to Adam and grabbed him, first with his right hand around the head and then with the thumb of his left hand, he lifted up the left side of his upper lip, than the right. After that he got his head close to Adam's and looked him directly in eyes, asking him.

"Do you find me scary, mate?"

"No, sir.", said Alex clearly lying.

The boy lossend his grip, which was never too tight and quietly walked out of the room, giving Miss Lena a wink, at which she was clearly furious.

"This is the guy, I was gonna tell you about.", said Emma quietly, not to direct the fury of her homeroom teacher onto herself, "Ringo Roads. A third year. He is one the top students and this year, I believe, he should be the president of the gardening club, although they never did much gardening."

Adam didn't answer. The experience he had just received would scar him for life, he thought. What kind of person would that? What kind of being, perhaps? A vampire, of course. The dread in his eyes was immediately replaced with hope as he realised that his dream of becoming a vampire hunter was just around the corner.

"Thank you, Emma! Although, he came alone your intel just now was priceless. Can I ask you something else as well?"

As Emma was praying that the new kid wouldn't mess with Ringo, she nodded.

"When do club activities end?"

"Around 6 pm."

"THANK YOU AGAIN!!!" he shouted grabbing the attention of the teacher again, which resulted in a nagging.
