6 Chapter 6: New Rules

It’s a Saturday and I couldn’t be more excited, because Oliver and I are going to date later at night. Even though it’s a date night, I still need to attend my extra classes just to keep up with my academics. Since it’s still early before my extra classes start, I decided to call Oliver about later. He answers,

Freddie: Good morning Oliver!

Oliver: Good morning Freddie. Excited for later?

Freddie: Of course, I am. I was thinking about it since the day after you told me.

Oliver: So, can I pick you up later at 5 pm?

Freddie: How about 5:30 pm? I kind of forgot to tell you that I have extra classes to attend until 4 pm. Also, I need a good one hour just to freshen up myself and change.

Oliver: Okay, I will pick you up at 5:30 pm.

Freddie: What are the plans for later?

Oliver: I won’t tell you but promise me that you will look amazing later.

Freddie: Of course, I will look amazing later. Why would you tell me that?

Oliver: When I was also taking extra classes like you are right now; believe me you will look exhausted from all those classes.

Freddie: It’s just one day, how hard can these classes be?

Oliver: Well, I’d warn you.

Freddie: I have to prepare myself now before I leave for school. See you later.

Oliver: See you later as well.

I ended the call, went to my room, and changed into my school uniform, which is a short sleeve white polo, gray vest with the school’s logo on the left chest side, gray pants, and a gray necktie. I was gonna leave for school when one of my friends was waiting for me outside. Her name is Lucy, a girl with blonde hair.

Lucy: Good morning Freddie!

Freddie: Good morning!

Lucy: You look bright today.

Freddie: Let’s just say I finally found my happiness.

Lucy: That’s good to hear. So, how was your first day of internship?

Freddie: A lot of surprises and I liked it. How about your internship, how was it?

Lucy: It was tiring. I became a personal assistant to my supervisor.

We arrived at Magnolia University just minutes before the bell rang. Before the first class started, I noticed that the people in the room were only a few and the teacher was already there. I thought we were late because of that. Instead of sitting in our assigned seats, the teacher in charge asked us to occupy the seats in front since we were only a few and most of our assigned seats were at the back. I occupied the vacant seat that was near the window since I want to avoid the teacher’s attention at all cost when he starts asking questions.

Class started and the teacher gave a new schedule for today’s extra classes. I was shocked to see that all of the subjects we will be studying were math involved. Statistics, Geometry, Business Math, and even Accounting are involved. I guess Oliver was right, this day would look exhausting but, but date night is later. Better use that as a motivation for today.

While the teacher was discussing, instead of me taking notes, I started imagining things in the middle of class and lost focus. I was imagining about date night later, then Lucy suddenly tapped me at the back which made me startled.

Freddie: Lucy you startled me.

Lucy: Is everything ok Freddie? It’s time for lunch.

Freddie: Wait, already?! It was just the first class earlier. What’s happening to me?

Lucy: I think I know. You’re in love.

Freddie: What?! No way I’m in love…

Lucy: Freddie we’re friends since 1st year of high school. You think I wouldn’t notice. You’ve been staring at your notebook and outside the window the whole. So, tell me who is it?

Freddie: Well, this is gonna be weird.

Lucy: Just tell me already!

Freddie: Fine, I’ll tell you. His name is Oliver.

Lucy: You’re bisexual?!

Freddie: Be quiet. I don’t want anyone to know about it yet.

Lucy: Tell me all about him over lunch. He sounds charming.

We went to the cafeteria, bought our food for lunch, and occupied the table that was under a tree. As we sat down, we started chatting again.

Lucy: So, tell me how you fell in love with Oliver.

Freddie: Well, we met at KyotoMix last weekend. We shared a table since it was fully packed with customers and no available seats. It was awkward at first but we made conversation while eating. When the waiter served our food, the red ice tea spilled at him and I started wiping him and I felt his left part of his body.

Lucy: Let me guess, that’s the time you fell in love with him more.

Freddie: You’re right. During that time, he was staring at me as he fell in love with me as well.

Lucy: I guess you two made love at first sight, but you two are getting close if you know what I mean.

Freddie: And after lunch, he helped me with my things and offered a ride as a token of gratitude for what happened earlier. We also exchanged numbers when we reached my apartment.

Lucy: That’s so charming of him.

Freddie: Then the first day of internship arrived and the most unexpected thing happened. He’s part of Harmonix and we’re co-workers in the same department. We kind of hugged in the studio after he gave me a tour of the office.

Lucy: Are you two for real? You just met.

Freddie: Jealous? Anyways, after work, he offered another ride because he wants to talk to me privately. We were on the road when he asked me out on a date.

Lucy: When’s the date?

Freddie: Later at night. And that’s the reason why I was kind of spacing out earlier.

Lucy: Freddie, I support you with your decision. Hearing that story made me feel like you two were meant for each other. Wait, Freddie, your face is turning red. OMG! You’re blushing. I think you’re not done with the storytelling. Tell me what happened when you reached the apartment.

Freddie: I don’t know if I can tell you about that. It happened so suddenly.

Lucy: Just tell me already.

Freddie: Fine, but don’t tell anyone. Oliver kind of kissed me on the lips.

Lucy: Shut up! You’re making me tingly inside. I might slap you a hundred times.

Freddie: You’re already slapping me a hundred times. Stop it, please.

Lucy: Sorry about that.

We cleaned our table as we went back to the classroom. The bell rings as the afternoon classes start. Before the discussions started, the teacher announced that there are new rules for the internship and we will be discussing that for the rest of the afternoon. I paid attention to the teacher as he was discussing and there was one rule that made me shake inside because of fear. The rule stated, “Students are not allowed to have a relationship with his or her co-worker.” What’s worse about it is that the consequence for that is I can be expelled because of that. I looked at Lucy, both looking problematic because we know that this will be a problem between me and Oliver. I don’t how I will be saying about it to Oliver. This is gonna be a problem later at date night. I hope nothing goes wrong later.
