45 She Was Too Naïve If She Thought It Would Be The Same

"Kyoya... Kyoya?"

Kyoya was in a daze. His ears caught the sound of the soft voice in the dark, slowly luring him away from the darkness. He opened his eyes. The first thing that greeted his sight was her face laced with worry.

"Kyoya? Can you hear me?"

"Oh!"

Kyoya quickly sat up. His eyes went to the dark sky outside the windows before they returned to the little lady sitting on the bed beside him.

He couldn't believe he had fallen asleep!

"Oh, sorry," Kyoya mumbled, his pale cheeks tinged with red. He rubbed his tired eyes, his movement was still languid. "I slept..."

"It's okay," Shouko chuckled softly. She looked at the clock hung on the wall and back to the sleepy man. "I thought you're still working so I didn't dare to disturb you. Only when I saw your room was dark did I come in. Are you still sleepy?"

"No... No!" Kyoya shook his head, he was a bit ashamed to be caught like this. "It's already late. Have you eaten dinner? I could call for someone to bring dinner to us."

"I've cooked for us," Shouko rose up from the bed, the lights from above cast a dim silhouette on the floor. "But, I've just made some stir-fried chicken and spinach dish and some salad. Is that okay with you?"

Shouko had yet to learn Kyoya's preference in food. He did say he didn't mind anything as long as it was delicious but she was still eager to know if he had any favorite food aside from dessert.

"It's perfect," Kyoya answered with a smile. "I'll wash my face first. Please wait for me."

Kyoya headed to the ensuite washroom. Shouko looked at him with a small smile. Taking the opportunity of him being in the washroom, she began to tidy the messy bed.

When she first came inside the room, she saw that the room was only lit up by the moonlight outside. The man was sleeping on the bed. By seeing how his long legs hanging above the floor while he slept in the middle of the bed, she thought he had just fallen asleep without realizing it.

It was great to see him sleeping more.

"Let's go downstairs," Kyoya's deep voice sounded from her back. His face was a bit damp. His eyes were still lazy from the sleep yet his entire countenance had brightened.

Shouko smiled again. Both of them went to the dining room.

Both of them spent the night in peace. After dinner, Kyoya washed the dishes while Shouko brewed some tea. They went to the lounge to enjoy the serenity the quiet night had to offer.

Shouko had long understood how this man would pass his free time. He would rather stay at home than going out to the lively clubs even for drinking with his business connections. She was secretly happy when she first discovered it.

At first, she thought Kyoya would always stay home every night because he didn't want to leave the amnesiac her in an unfamiliar environment but it was not the only reason. He himself disliked being in a crowded place if it was not necessary.

"I heard Grandpa saying you would go for a date with him once we're back?" Kyoya lifted up the cup of tea from the table, his eyes went to look at his wife.

They sat on the same two-seater couch as yesterday's night but the atmosphere around them was peaceful compared to the heavy one last night.

"Did Grandpa boast to you again?" Shouko let out a series of giggles. She could imagine how did the old man bragging to her husband. Grandpa was so childish. He had always loved tormenting his grandson.

"Uhuh," Kyoya nodded. "I said since he's a lonely man, I shouldn't be stingy. He got mad at me."

"Hahaha~"

Shouko covered her mouth, trying to suppress her laugh.

What made her laugh wasn't the words Kyoya had thrown to Grandpa but the way his face looked like when he said them. He appeared awkward and smug at the same time, tickling her heart.

"Why did you laugh?" Kyoya was dumbfounded. He didn't think that his words were that funny.

"No, nothing," Shouko quickly brushed the topic aside. She sipped her tea, savoring its aftertaste and held it on her knees. "Forget about Grandpa, what should we do tomorrow? Mrs. Shimizu told me some other things that we could do."

"What is it?" Kyoya was intrigued by the look in his wife's eyes. It wasn't hard to think that she had been fixated on an idea.

"En, well," Shouko couldn't suppress the excitement in her heart as her eyes continued to sparkle happily. Her smile became wider, her fingers were fidgeting with the cup in her hands. "Mrs. Shimizu said on the east side of the lake, there's a hiking trail that's only known by the locals here. The sight there is greater than the ones here. She said we could even camp there. The view at night is especially beautiful. Why don't we go for camping?"

Kyoya's eyes flickered as he was stunned. Did his little wife realize that she was inviting him for a night camping, just the two of them alone?

If this was before, he didn't mind but right now, there was still a distance between them due to her not remembering who was he.

Or, did she think it was just the same as the two of them sleeping on the same bed as yesterday?

She was too naive if she thought it would be the same.

"Alright," Kyoya nodded, he smiled as his eyes glinted mischievously. He wouldn't say no to his wife's suggestion if it meant he could be alone with her. "We could go there and set up a tent. We should list down what we have to bring even though the place is near here. Remember to bring thicker clothes."

"Okay~ You know, Mrs. Shimizu said..."

Shouko was too happy until she didn't notice the look on her husband's face. She was too focused on enjoying the view as Mrs. Shimizu's words had successfully lured her into a trap.

By the time she realized it, it would already be too late.

Kyoya leaned sideways on the couch, his eyes and lips were smiling as he listened to his wife. He couldn't wait to tease her once the night arrived during their camping.

The matter of them sleeping on the same bed was different with them sharing a tent. A room was sparse and the bed was vast, in contrast to the much smaller tent. Even the ambiguity of the atmosphere would become different especially if they were the only ones camping in the quiet and peaceful place.

What would she look like at that time?

For sure, she would be blushing furiously.
