62 He Was Waiting For That Man To Fall Down From The Cliff

Kashino Corporation.

Kyoya had just sat down inside the meeting room when he heard a notification chimed in. He swiftly fished out his phone and opened the unread message, ignorant to the look given by Ryota.

The corners of his eyes crinkled as his lips bent into a smile.

"Is that my cousin-in-law?" Even though he knew the answer, Ryota still asked, secretly hoping it was really true.

"En," Kyoya replied briefly. His fingers danced on the screen, typing a reply to his wife. Everyone was relieved if their boss was happy.

All of the higher-ups who sat in the meeting room could see their future ahead was bright.

The lady boss's message to their boss had successfully elevated his mood during the entire meeting. No one was reprimanded even though usually this demon lord would harshly scold anyone for a tiny mistake.

The meeting ended after one hour and a half. The unrelated personals dispersed, leaving Kyoya, Ryota, Assistant Kuroda and a few other people. They remained to discuss the project in City A.

"Go and take a short break first," Kyoya said without lifting up his gaze from the tablet in his hands. "We'll resume within 15 minutes."

"Thank you, President."

All of them headed to the pantry. Ryota glanced at Assistant Kuroda who left with the others. He nudged at Kyoya, trying to get his attention.

"You're saying you want to give up the land?" Ryota raised his brows. He had gotten the news from Grandpa yet he couldn't sit still until his cousin explained everything to him. "It is related to the information you asked me to find?"

Kyoya silently nodded. He decrypted a document and passed the tablet to Ryota. The latter quickly took the tablet.

His eyes dilated in surprise. He blinked a few times, he was at a shock by what he was seeing.

"We should shift our focus on the development at Island C instead of City A," Kyoya faintly smiled, revealing a smirk. "With such an outrageous officer handling the bid, a controversy couldn't be suppressed thus would suspend the project."

"And... Yamashita Group is the one bribing the officer?" Ryota covered his mouth, unsure of what to say.

Kyoya lowered down his eyes, his gaze darkening.

An illegal fund found its way into some high-ranking officer's account wasn't something surprising. It happened frequently than one would think.

In any conglomerate, a gray area existed where laws couldn't touch them. More often than not, people who always stay within the gray area would be completely pulled into the black one.

By then, they could no longer escape.

"Since when did you suspect this?" It was baffling yet Ryota managed to keep his calm. "Did you... start this by the moment you found Yamashita Group tried to build a foundation here?"

His cousin had always work in silence. He had always be surprised by how efficient Kyoya did his job.

"I'm just being careful," Kyoya threw Ryota a meaningful gaze. "By how that man worked in the past, it would be a lie to say he wouldn't continue his way of obtaining the things he desires. It seems he hasn't changed all this year. He has even approached by dear father-in-law."

The last sentence was tinged with scorn. He smiled coldly when he remembered what the Yuasa couple tried to achieve behind his back, especially after they dared to threaten his wife again.

"What? That man is involved?"

Ryota didn't have any good impression over his cousin's in-laws except for Shouko's half-sister and paternal aunt. Since Kyoya didn't put Father Yuasa and Mother Yuasa in his eyes, he wouldn't bother with them either.

"He's too desperate to get the power back," Kyoya said in a lazy tone. He closed his eyes as he leaned against the cushion. "It has been five years, he couldn't wait for too long. That's why he came to meet Shouko this morning."

"Heh~" Ryota sneered, his eyes flashed with mischief. "He tried testing the water but didn't expect that cousin-in-law would outrightly reject him. He must think he could manipulate his amnesiac daughter, right?"

Kyoya gave a low grunt, implying he agreed with Ryota.

A man who was forced to the corners, especially for years, would always lose his rationality. He would use even the desperate measures to obtain what he wanted even though the risk was too high.

"Hahaha! Does he think that sneaky old man would really help him? That Yamashita guy is terrible. He's much more terrible than your father-in-law."

Kyoya nodded. He didn't even care about it.

He was waiting for that man to fall down the cliff. By then, he could completely cut him off of his wife's life.

The second meeting ended late. All of them understood that even though on the surface they had to appear as if they were giving their all for the project, they actually were working secretly on another one.

"Even though the tombstones on the island are guarded by the grand master's family members, they would agree to collaborate with us if we could prove we're trustworthy in keeping them safe," One of the executives reported.

"They could present their conditions to us," Kyoya closed his file and passed it to Assistant Kuroda. "The other participants think the tombstones are worthless and would cost a big money to maintain them so go and convince the guardians that we're serious with this matter."

"Understood, President."

The executives were all trusted by Kyoya. A few of them were as old as his late father and worked alongside his grandfather during the time of crisis when his father suddenly left the world.

While some people were fighting for wealth and power, these gentlemen remained loyal and satisfied with the way their achievements been repaid.

Greed was a bottomless pit. No matter how much fame and wealth a man acquired, he would never be satisfied and coveted for more until he fell into ruin.

Once he left the meeting room, Kyoya quickly headed toward the basement to go home. He rarely used the lobby. His chauffeur, Old Takashi had already waiting for him at the entrance of the basement. He was standing outside the car.

"Young Master," The chief of security, Chief Manabe came closer to him as he wanted to report an important matter. "Madam Yamashita was here, she's looking for you."

Kyoya paused his step, his face went taut. He had forgotten about the matter.

Ever since his mother received the document to severe their relationship, she had been looking for him. All of her attempts were futile since he was away from the city at that time. Who knew she was being so persistent and came here again?

"Just call the police next time due to public disturbance," He left with an instruction. The heaviness in his eyes was concealed as he lowered his gaze.

Chief Manabe gave a bow, implying he understood.

Old Takashi carefully closed the car door once Kyoya got inside. He exchanged a glance with Chief Manabe. Both men had a tacit understanding of the matter.

Their young master would no longer be soft-hearted when dealing with his birth mother. Even though the problem became bigger and tougher as the police were involved, he had stopped caring.

"Young Master," Old Takashi took a quick peek through the rearview mirror, found that the young man's mood seemed sullen before he carefully continued, "Madam Yamashita might try to contact Young Madam."

It was an obvious matter to be pointed out.

"Thanks for worrying, Old Takashi, but everything is alright," Kyoya replied softly, feeling grateful over the old man's concern.

If anyone tried to contact his wife using anonymous numbers or e-mails, all of them would be blocked by the software inside her phone and laptop.

It was true he couldn't stop it from happening if that woman successfully bought someone closed to them and used that person but he chose not to think about it. No one had the guts to do so. Even that woman was still trying to threaten him instead of just going to meet his wife directly.

Her words and threat were all empty.

The car slowly left the basement before the speed increased as they entered the main road.

"Old Takashi," Kyoya suddenly thought of something. He stopped depressing himself over an unimportant person. It was best to focus on his wife. "Please stop at the florist the other day."

Old Takashi nodded with a smile, he breathed a sigh of relief to see his young master wasn't too affected unlike before. "Understood, Young Master."

The old lady from the florist still remembered him even though he had just come to her shop once. She immediately wrapped Kyoya a bouquet of blue iris with white and pastel pink ribbons.

"Your wife loved the peonies from the other day?" The old lady asked in delight. "This iris just arrived today, the freshest in the store! Quick! Go home and give this bouquet to her."

"Thank you, Aunt," Kyoya accepted the bouquet with a satisfied smile.

He generously paid more than needed before he swiftly left the florist, baffling the old lady when she saw the amount of money she got. He had already reached the car by the time the old lady reacted.

Kyoya carefully guarded the bouquet in his arms. A foolish smile spread on his face as he thought of how his wife would react when she received these flowers.

Would she hug me? Or... even kiss me?

Kyoya chuckled softly. A rarely seen blush faintly tinged his cheeks as he tried to suppress himself from grinning too obviously.

Old Takashi just smiled without saying anything. His old heart could even feel the sweet atmosphere coming from the backseat.
