Taylor awoke to the busy noise of pots and pans and the intoxicating smell of bacon. A small sliver of sunlight fell across the bed from a crack in the curtains, signifying the end of the long night. She got up and quickly pulled on her sword belt and tied her sandals. How long had she slept She opened the curtains and warm sunlight streamed into the room, highlighting dancing particles of dust within its beams. She peered through the window and out into the fields beyond. The sky was blue and a light breeze ruffled across the grass. Puffy white clouds moved slowly overhead and she could hear the faint trill of birdsong. She felt a sudden thrill. She was in the Obsidian Realm!
