Soul of the Void

Waking up, the boy looked around. He found himself in a small room, sitting in bed.

He instinctively breathed in deeply before trying to get up, only to fall over onto the floor. Deciding that his action was successful, he stopped, looking up at the roof. Having no sense of reality, he didn't really know what was going on. Raising his hands to his face, he realized that these two palms were his own.

June had just woken up from her nap, yawning, she went over to check if the kid had woken up.

Walking into the room, she was met with the sight of the kid laying on the ground staring up at the ceiling.

"Hey there."

Turning his head towards her, his expression remained blank.

"Hello? Can you hear me?"

He stared blankly.

"Are you alright?"

Blank. His face remained unchanging. She sensed nothing from them. It was an unnatural emptiness that seemed to slowly fade with each passing moment. It was almost like something that resembled the Null Walkers, but even stranger. It didn't mask any ill intent or hold any hidden animosity, there was just nothing to it.

This boy probably wasn't human, but she truly could not tell. While they couldn't sense any danger from them, they also couldn't sense anything else at all. They both sat there, staring at each other.

She pondered how she was gonna deal with this boy.

———

As she stared at me, I stared back, wondering what she was. Everything around me was infinitely and endlessly different.

And even while it all confused me, I didn't hate it. The feeling of my being becoming corporeal was something I could definitely get behind.

I was unable to really move correctly with my body though.

The lady staring at me had no clue of this and I didn't know anything at all. Picking me up, she put me back into the bed and she left the room.

After being hit with a fresh dose of stimuli, I began trying to move my body.

Raising my hands, I could move my fingers through the use of contracting and relaxing the muscles. Moving my arms, I found they followed a similar pattern. My muscles were like cords formed by bundles of bundles of string connected to each other. Pulling and releasing to create movement.

With this, I moved out of the bed to try and stand.

Keeping my hands on the bed, I managed to get myself standing. Taking my first step, I fell over.

This was gonna be an issue.

I repeated the process. Over and over again. After five minutes of falling over, I was then able to walk. Walking over to the door, I copied her and opened it. I felt pride in my accomplishment.

Going out of the room, I was greeted with new surroundings. Like the last two places I'd been in, I stood still, comprehending my surroundings.

Walking out of the kitchen, the woman stared at me. Squinting her eyes, she looked at me suspiciously.

"Hmmm, hello... how are you doing?

I had no idea what they were saying or why they were making noises. I looked at them, before trying to repeat what they said.

"█████████- Hmmm, hello... how are you doing?"

They were silent.

"Are you alright?"

"Are you alright?"

She sighed in exasperation. She walked over to a table and sat in a chair. I did the same. Two bowls of food that weren't there seconds before.

Holding a pair of chopsticks, she began eating, studying me while she did. I looked at her as she ate, before copying. Tasting the first thing I had ever eaten, I began eating faster. Until I had finally finished.

"Huh, I guess you're not some sort of man eating monster I accidentally took in. That's nice to know."

I stayed silent. Unsure of what to do then.

"Hmmm. You're not human are you..."

I stared blankly with no clue of what she was saying.

She groaned. "Shit."
