Run in with the NYC vigilantes

"You are so cold Dark Menace!!"(Argus)

"And by that you mean?"(Luis)

"You teamed up with that Bounty hunter but you won't team up with us!" (Argus)

"Shut up you are gonna get us found." (Luis)

"Who exactly is gonna find us?"(Sara)

She wants to know whether I'm here to disturb their work huh. Should I tell them or should I keep it to myself? Actually, last time that I didn't know what they were up to and ended up getting my plan ruined. I guess I'll tell them and ask for their plans in retrospect.

"... I got a hold that the people dealing there," I say pointing to the people out into the open distributing, " are the direct suppliers of the drugs from the Crimson Night, so I planned on following them to see if they would head back, and if they didn't, I'll just have to find out, won't I? And your plan is?"

"Same as yours!"( Argus)

"SHHH!"( Sara and Luis)

This Argus is a bit too eager.

"*Clears throat* Anyways, Argus is telling the truth. We found out recently about this and decided that it would be a good lead on Crimson Night..."

"I see, in that case, let's make sure to stay out of each other's way." (Luis)

"Why? Can't we team up?" (Argus)

This guy really gets on my nerves.

"No, I work alone, it's more efficient this way." (Luis)

"But you teamed up with the bounty hunter that came to town!" (Argus)

" We were.... just using each other for own goals." (Luis)

"A little hesitation there, Dark Menace." (Sara)

Ugh, I would've said that without hesitation before if I didn't feel somewhat indebted to him for bringing me back to my senses. Next time I see him I'll make sure to pay this back, I don't like owing people.

"..." (Luis)

"Come on, It will be more efficient with a team!" (Argus)

Argus is not wrong, I just can't shake the feeling telling me I shouldn't trust them. I can't figure out their objective in doing all of this. But for now, I guess it might be easier if I team up with them. I'll give in for now.

" *Sigh* I understand, let's just move together until we find what we want and then we part ways." (Luis)

"Yay!" (Argus)

"Calm down Argus, for now, let's get along, shall we?" she says as she extends her hand towards me for a handshake.

I ignore it and focus on my side where I sense some movement. The three people that were supplying decided to go back.

"They are moving."

"Ouch, someone got rejected." (Argus)

"Shut up!" (Sara)

"If you guys jeep on shouting we are going to get found out. Let's just follow them."

<This kid has such a nasty attitude> (Sara)

They decided to leave from the shortest distance out of the park. Argus starts his questioning of me as we follow them out of the park

"Where do you think they are going Dark Menace?"

"We'll find out if we follow."

"How did you find out they would be here?" (Argus)

"A little birdie told me."

"Really, is that little birdie the bounty hunter?"(Sara)

Always trying to squeeze information huh. This honestly feels like a two-person act.

"He was too big to be considered a little birdie," I say as we arrive outside the park," Now, could you guys shut up, I'm trying to hear their conversation."

"... Wait, what? We are like 40 meters behind them, how are we supposed to hear their conversation?" (Sara)

Argus can't do that? Maybe is one of my special traits.

"By trying really hard to hear them." (Luis)

"Bullshit, you are using your magic!" (Sara)

"When did I ever mention the existence of magic?" (Luis)

So it is officially called magic I see. Unless they also have a vague misconception of it.

"Last time you... you didn't..." (Sara)

With that, we arrive near the first building after following them.

"This is where I take my leave." (Luis)

"I thought you were going to follow them. Won't we end up going the same way?" (Argus)

I go near a building with a fence on it and try sensing a ladder as well as anyone that might be seeing us. I don't sense anybody.

"I never follow on the ground." As soon as I finished the sentence I used enhancement magic along with wind magic to jump over the fence.

"Woah, with jumps like those you may make it as an Olympian." (Argus)

"Not interested." (Luis)

"You are very good at concealing it aren't you?" (Argus)

"I have no idea what you are talking about." (Luis)

I say as I go farther in to get closer to the emergency staircase.

"He used it then? I didn't notice." (Sara)

"Yes, it seems that he takes necessary cautions to not get found but unless he fixes it's hard to fool anyone else who uses magic. Wait up, we'll follow with you!" (Argus)

"Tch." (Luis)

So people who use magic can also sense it but there's a way to conceal it. I gotta find more about this

They both get near the fence, Argus looks around.

"Earth pillar." (Argus)

I small earth pillar come up from underneath him and Sara until it reached the fence's level and after that, they dropped.

"Back to earth."

The pillar goes back. Why did he have to say the name? Do people normally have to say it out loud or is he making me believe that? Maybe I'm being a little too paranoid. I jump up to the emergency ladder without waiting for them.

"Still using your wind element discreetly, aren't you? You are very efficient with it but I'll show you what a fellow Magic Soldier can do."

Well, I guess he would've found out about that sooner or later. Also, he said Magic Soldier, was that a slip on his part or common knowledge. Well, I'll learn as I go along, Argus speaks without thinking so it's easy to trick questions out of him. I don't really care if he finds out about my wind element.

He still doesn't know about my healing element and the fire element. If I were to rank them in order of strength I would have to say that my proficiency with Fire is the highest as an offensive element even if I use wind more often since it's less noticeable. So him noticing Wind is not a big deal.

"I appreciate your praises. I'll be going ahead, they are about to exit my range and would like to catch up to them."

Without hearing what he had to say I jump up from stair level to stair level with a little help of wind step. I usually wouldn't use wind step in front of people but if they are following with me they'll find out anyway. Windstep isn't the only wind magic I' know and trained.

"Not so good at hiding it now!' (Argus)

I ignore him and decide to catch up to the people I am following. I jump from building to building until I finally get close to the building near them. I enhance my hearing.

"... Bounty hunter handed the convict with the help of Dark Menace."(Voice 1)

"Doesn't he work alone?"(Voice 2)

"Usually, he must've had his reasons don't you think?" (Voice 3)

"Yes I wonder what exactly was he offered for his help." (Voice 1)

" Yeah, I bet some big shit is gonna happen pretty soon with him at its center." (Voice 3)

Well, the fall of the organization you work for would be big I guess. Anyways, this conversation is not helpful at all. I decide to not waste my concentration anymore and stop enhancing my focused hearing. I feel the other two presences catching up to me.

"Earth bridge."

A bridge between the buildings is formed. They pass through it

"Return to earth"

The bridge disappears. It looks like he's still saying them out loud. Also, does he have to say return to earth for every spell he uses? Or is it only for a permanent type spells?... I shouldn't worry about it too much since I'll most likely find out later. Sara heads towards my direction.

"So what did you hear." (Sara)

"Nothing useful, I'll follow them for now...." Now that I think about it I didn't ask them about that." What will you do after they arrive at their destination?" (Luis)

"We'll wait for the other two and storm the place!" (Argus)

"No, you won't." (Luis)

This team is honestly so rash. I learned from last time that not having a plan doesn't work and there's no way they can go against an organization with how little firepower they have.

"And what gives you the authority to stop us?" She says annoyed

"Nothing, but that's not a good decision." (Luis)

What will you do then?" Sara says with an incredulous voice.

I sigh.

"Gather information about when Jose's replacement will arrive." (Luis)

"For?" (Argus)

"If you think about it logically, we don't have enough power to stop them by sheer force. However, taking care of two people is enough to make them fall by throwing off the chain of command." (Luis)

I say as I jump to the next building. Again Argus does the same incantations. This might be a good way to test his magic capacity. I will try to focus a bit more on any signs of fatigue in his body and any small changes to measure his capabilities.

"... I see! The day the new guy comes in both of them will have to be there. If we can catch them both and the people that came with the replacement the line of communication with the druglord will fall off and Crimson Night will be done for, there's also the fact that no one is directly under them so a power struggle in order to show how capable a person is will take place.." (Sara)

"Exactly, the only problem is that security may be too strict for us to do anything. But if we follow them to the base and learn where they are stationed we might learn of another time when they might be together again and crush them then." (Luis)

"..."

"Well, that was my line of thought anyway."

"I see, in that case, I have a little call to make."

Call? Probably have to contact the other three about a change of plans. We follow the distributors to a big private area with a big garden, some security cameras and people hanging out outside. This place is hella suspicious, how did I not notice this sooner is the question. This is either the main place or a side place. Probably the first one since this place is huge.

"Yep, it's gonna be a pain in the ass learning about things going on in there." (Luis)
