46 Doubt

My bullet hits him straight in the head and kills him. Tears form in my eyes, I had already made my resolve. I look away to distract myself. He really didn't deserve to die, didn't he?

I sigh again. Just as I had made my resolve on joining the Vigilantes, I'm doubting my decisions again. For now, I said I'd join, so I might as well keep myself to my word. I can't really tell right from wrong anymore.

HIs phone rings again. Probably his wife.

I pick it up and answer.

"Hello! Are you still there honey?!" (Emily)

"... Sorry, ma'am." I hand up the phone and slam the phone on the ground and step on it. The phone completely shatters into small pieces. The rain intensifies as I'm left there wondering whether it was the right choice or not.

I sense the police coming in, I guess it's time to send the text. I take out the phone the Vigilantes gave me and send the text. After making sure that the text had sent I also smash the phone onto the ground. With that, it's time to move out.

We go back to the time five minutes before Luis had to send the text.

"Why is it taking so fucking long for Luis to send us the text?!" (Peter)

"This is not long! Do you have any idea how long we had to stall for you guys to finish your business back at Crimson Night's mansion!?" (Sara)

"Stop fighting both of you! [Earth pillar]! See! Sara almost got shot! We just have to hold out!" (Argus)

The sound of bullets can be heard going everywhere as they fought off way more people than they should.

"Is Luis done with what he has to do?!" (Peter)

"Let me check!" Argus expanded his presence into the building in order to search for Luis. What he detected surprised him. Luis was talking with Jefe on top of the roof, what the hell was going on? Shouldn't he have shot him already?

"So?!" (Peter)

"He's talking to Jefe!... I don't know why!" (Argus)

[Earth pillar]

"That bastard having a leisure talk up there while we fight for our lives down here! Fucking piece of shit!" (Peter)

"Now! Now! I'm sure Luis has his reasons! We'll just have him explain later! just keep on shooting!" (Rebecca)

A few minutes passed until the group finally received the one text they were aiming for.

"Everyone! Get out now!" (Sara)

[Return to earth] [Earth pillar]

The group moved out as they moved to their car. Argus created and dismantled earth pillars in order to block bullets while still leaving no evidence behind. They arrived at the car and started it.

"What does the text say?" (Argus)

"North. Alright! South it is! Let's get a move on!" (Sara)

With that, the group quickly left the scene of the shooting. Shortly after the police found their way there, however, the Vigilantes were nowhere to be seen. Almost all of Crimson Night's people were caught with a few exceptions that were not important. Just like that, another organization fell at the hands of the Vigilantes.

A couple of hours after the raid the Vigilantes arrived in the car with Luis following shortly after. We are now inside the apartment where a party has started already and everybody seemed on high spirits

"So, for Victory over Bloody Crips and the initiation of a new member. Cheers!" (Argus)

"Cheers!" (Everyone)

Everybody started eating and chatting away.

"That was easier than the last time we had to do that!" (Rebecca)

"Right!"(Sara)

"Speak for yourselves, that place was a bullet hell-hole!" (Peter)

Beer is being passed around like water. That is including me.

"Now you know what it felt like to be us last raid!" (Sara)

"Well, too bad Luis didn't get to experience that too." (Peter)

"There are some experiences, that I'd rather not have. Plus, I had my part to do." (Luis)

"That reminds me, what were you doing with Jefe up in the roof?" (Peter)

He drinks a whole cup and pours himself another cup

It looks like he's a bit drunk. Anyways, I can't exactly tell them what he told me.

"...I was trying to get some information out of him, no luck." (Luis)

"What about?!" (Peter)

He drinks again.

"Personal matters." (Luis)

"Can't you tell us now that-" (Peter)

"That's enough beer for you isn't it?!" Sara says with an intimidating tone.

"...I guess you are right. Come on, it's a celebration, you drink up too." (Peter)

"Sure." (Luis)

We kept on drinking as the night went by. I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Argus wasn't drinking but I wasn't really going to point it out. Luckily or unluckily, whichever it is. I can not get drunk due to my healing magic. I could probably get drunk if I use all my magic power up but I don't want to test that theory.

We all separated and went over to the bed. I lay down in the same place as yesterday and we say our goodnights. This has been an eventful couple of weeks. Doubt after realization, after doubt followed by another realization. It really has been a long ride to be here. And now thanks to Jefe's words and M.'s warning I still have more doubts.

"Luis, are you awake!" (Argus)

"..."

I'm really not in the mood to humor this guy. I will just fake being drunk for now.

"Luis." (Argus)

"..."

Argus waits for an answer. After seeing that there was no answer he stood up and started getting ready to leave. Wait, he didn't get drunk and he needs me to be asleep in order to leave?... This is very strange. I'll tail him, he probably thinks I'm drunk. Maybe this will answer some of my questions and clear some doubts. I look at the bracelets I took off. I'll put this on, I d

He leaves the apartment through the door and starts heading down. I wait a minute and lie still just in case he was sensing me. I start sensing him again, he's on the first floor already.I look at the bracelets I took off and put them on again. I can't forget them.

Alright, I don't need stairs, I get up and jump out the window. Then I use air-step to get to the nearest building.I'll keep him at the edge of my sensing range just to be extremely sure that he can't sense me. He decides to go on foot which was probably a horrible mistake, had he gone in the car, he probably would've lost me.

He starts going south of where we are and started running. I followed behind him, this time just on the floor running far behind him. I follow him for about 20 minutes until we arrive at Lower Manhattan...Is he trying to meet?

I then sense something change within him. A cape materializes out of thin air I faintly hear an incantation. My heart skips a beat...that's the presence I felt the day Tara was killed...

My heart starts racing fastly. Argus enters through some sort of checkpoint and enters another house. He goes straight in without any resistance. Isn't this Lotus Flower's mansion? There are way more guards than at the Crimson NIght's house.

I infiltrate the same way I did when I infiltrated the Crimson NIght's house. Well, this is a bigger mansion. So it was more difficult to do. I can still feel that detestable presence. Why did Argus' presence change to the same person as that day? Is that even possible?

I enter the mansion and stay outside the room they are in while hiding my presence. I expand my hearing range until it finally reaches where Argus is meeting another person. It looks like it's the top floor of the mansion, I guess bosses are just like that. He's not wearing the cape anymore.

"..Joined us." (Argus)

"I see, so he finally came around, now we just have to convince him that we are righteous and we have him." (???)

"Hahaha! I know what you mean, getting him on our side was too easy. And all we had to do was kill a friend of his and the rest played itself out. What a fucking idiot! HAHA!" (Argus)

So, it was him after all.

"Gotta admit, you had a great Idea! I didn't know about how it would pan out when you proposed killing that Tara girl but it went well in the end! If we can now-" (???)

I break the all in fury and hit Argus in the hip with my left hand. The attack takes him by surprise and it sends him flying to the nearest wall.

"I. Am.Going.To.Kill.You!" (Luis)

A couple of minutes before Luis and Argus departed to Lotus Flower's mansion we have police inspecting the scene where the Bloody Crips met their end. A woman silver hair and another with golden hair are in the scene as well.

"There's magic residue isn't there..." (Blonde woman)

"It appears so." (Silver-haired woman)

"Damn it, this isn't fair! The one vacation we get throughout the whole year and now we have a case of loose magic soldiers!"

"Wel, We are bound by duty to do this isn't it?"

"It's still not fair Rose!" (Blonde)

"That's all there is to it Lily. We'll just have to request-" (Rose)

"Do you feel that?" (Lily)

"Did you pick something up?" (Rose)

"Yes, it's extremely faint but. Magic is being used south of here..."(Lily)

"Lead the way then."

"I was just about to."
