1 Season 01 - Chapter 001 | Secret Novelist

Season 01 - Chapter 001

One week had passed since I transmigrated into one of the stories I was reading before I died. After investigating and observing my surroundings, I've figured that I'm in the world of Polaris. The book that I transmigrated into was called The Ones Fated To Love, a book I threw away because of its stupid plot.

In the original book, the alleged villainess was condemned to death. It was later revealed that she was framed by the Marchioness of Veliami, the heroine's real love rival.

AND I TURNED OUT TO BE THAT SAME VILLAINESS!

It wasn't that hard to adapt in this world, since I have a pretty creative imagination as a novelist. However, did I really need to be the false villainess?!

"Young Miss, shall I ready your carriage?" Her name is Rosebeth. She's supposed to be Asteria, or should I say my, personal attendant.

"Yes, I would appreciate that. Also, I'm sure you informed father, right?" I asked.

Three days ago, I started to utilize my skills in this world to secure my survival. I can't let that scheming marchioness get to me. I realized that I am able to write all the works I've written word for word and decided to publish my books in this world as well.

"Did you hear about the popular novel in the Empire now? The Eternal Pursuit of Knowledge by Secret Novelist?"

"Yes! Even in my sleep, I could imagine the wonders of Eli's face!"

The chatter of the maids in the manor was heard as I walked out to the carriage. I secretly smiled, knowing they were talking about my character. It gets me everytime...

When we reached the main street, I pulled my blue coat over my head, put up my mask, and went out of the carriage by myself. The coachman nodded and left the vicinity as soon as I entered the Light Hall.

In the book, the Light Hall was a famous merchant's library and coffee shop. It was owned by a retired hunter who became a merchant to live a frivolous lifestyle.

"SN! Come! Let me show you your new writing area!" Dessi ran to a bookshelf and placed a book on the top shelf.

A wall opened and revealed a hidden room.

"Come inside!"

"You didn't have to do this, Dessi." The magic item in my mask distorted my voice.

He laughed. "After all the money you brought in my hall, I don't think this is even enough to thank you for it."

The room was extremely spacious. I couldn't believe I'm already receiving VIP treatment after only three days of the publishing of my book.

"There have been a few nobles who would like to meet you, but I respect your privacy. Do you want to meet with them or stay detached from the social circle?"

"Thank you, Dessi. I'm moving on with a series, so I don't have time to meet with them. If you could deliver my word, I would appreciate it."

"Yes. Understood. I'll be at the main hall; if you need anything, you can call for me."

The door closed, and I was left inside the hidden room. It had a desk and a comfortable chair. There was also a shelf containing paper and ink. I could never imagine how expensive the papers were. In Polaris, paper is generally expensive because people who have no access to magic aren't able to produce it, unlike in Earth, where anyone knows that paper is just made out of trees, or more specifically fibre.

I was just finishing the first ten chapters of the first novel of my series when a loud bang surprised me. I put my mask on and draped my cloak over my body.

"Dessi—"

"Secret Novelist."

My body shuddered when I saw who was making a scene outside. I almost kneeled automatically, but I had to maintain my "high-rank" facade.

"Prime Minister Beumont."

"So you are aware of who's infront of you."

"To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit, Prime Minister?"

Dessi gave up and sighed. He backed out and let the Prime Minister and I talk in private by asking his men to let his customers leave the Light Hall.

"I have read your interesting novel, The Eternal Pursuit of Knowledge."

"I believe you didn't pay me a visit just to tell me you read my piece."

That's absurd. Prime Minister Beumont supported the Crown Prince since his reign. Unless there is war or something that will affect the Crown Prince, he never leaves the Palace to deal with matters on his own.

"The information in your novel is intriguing. I'm here to invite you to my office to discuss your insights over a cup of tea."

Was there anything contreversial in my book? I'm not sure. I just wrote whatever I remembered. The only thing that might be contreversial are the medical terms in my book, but that shouldn't bother the Prime Minister too much. Of course unless I'm missing pieces of the information here.

"I see. I don't think there are any problems with that. Let's set—"

"We must talk about it now. Would it be okay for you to join me in my carriage to the Imperial palace?"

"I see no issue. Let us depart then."

I followed his steps and refused to be assisted by the coachman to appear as a man. I should apologize to Dessi later for the commotion.

"Will it bother you to take off your mask? I'm not too keen about letting you enter the palace as an anonymous individaul."

"If my mask bothers you, I recommend discussing my novel in another place."

"No. I understand if you want to keep your identity a secret. Should I address you as a he or a she?"

"SN would do. I would prefer not exposing my sexual identity."

We remained quiet after our monotonous conversation. I wonder what he would like to discuss. It's making me feel ominous.

When we reached the grandiose Palace, the servants of the palace stood in rows and greeted us. A valet walked to us. I'm assuming he serves the Prime Minister. After the extravagant entry, the valet, who was called Percival, guided us in a drawing room.

"I'll be direct, Secret Novelist. I wanted to talk about the medical information your book contained for the sake of the Crown Prince."

I tried to remember if the Crown Prince had any medical conditions that caused the Prime Minister to be interested in my book.

"Does the Crown Prince have any medical conditions?"

"Before I answer your question, I would like you to sign a confidentiality agreement contract." He handed me a magic document.

"What will I gain?" I asked as I read the contract.

He chuckled as if he was expecting me to say that.

"You are undoubtedly intelligent, SN. We'll offer you access to the Imperial Library."

He must've heard from Dessi that I was interested in the Imperial Library. "How do you know I have no knowledge of what's inside that library?" I skimmed through the document and dropped it on the table that's separating the Prime Minister from me.

His facial expression darkened. "Are you saying that you already know all of the information inside the Imperial Library?"

It's not the time to back down. I have to use this agreement to my advantage and secure a comfortable life without worrying about the Crown Prince killing me. "And what if I said yes? Would you have me killed?"

Even with my rude words, he stayed calm and sighed. "What do you want?"

Yes. He couldn't kill me now. He doesn't have enough information about me, whether I'm a noble or a commoner. Whether I'll be able to help the Crown Prince or bring the Imperial Family down.

"I want a crest that will protect anyone who has it, even from the members of the Royal Family. And may I repeat, anyone, as long as they have it."

Prime Minister Beumont's brows furrowed. "How do I guarantee that you will be of any help?"

"You don't. I'll use all my knowledge to help whatever illness the Crown Prince has if you give me a crest that will be able to give protection to anyone who has it. If you don't agree, we could stop this conversation right here and right now."

I know that Prime Minister Beumont isn't an easy man to compromise with, but this'll do. Besides, his lack of information puts me in an advantageous position. He's a wise Prime Minister and wouldn't make rash decisions.

"I would also like to confirm how much you know about what's inside the Imperial Library."

I smiled. "As you wish."

I pulled out a magical pen that has my blood as its ink and signed the magical document that changed its content as we settled our terms a while ago. The document burned to crisp and its smoke enveloped the Prime Minister's body. This was to make sure that the Prime Minister doesn't go against his words.

"Now then. Where would you like to start?"

"What do you know about the Imperial Library?"

It seems that he deems the Imperial Library more important than the Crown Prince. It makes sense, since the library contains knowlede not only about the Crown Prince, but the whole Imperial Family of all generations.

"I know enough about the Imperial Family of this generation and the following five generations before. That includes the prophecies given from the Holy Temple and the list of Prime Ministers who served those generations."

Prime Minister Beumont's expression turned dark.

"Does the Crown Prince have medical conditions that will affect his reign?" I asked.

"No. But his daughter has."

I was thanking God that I was wearing my face mask. Who would've known that the Crown Prince has a child?! This wasn't mentioned even in the book!

In The One's Fated To Love, the heroine meets the Crown Prince after a huge argument with Asteria. He takes the heroine's side, who fought for her commoner background. They meet multiple times in the Holy Temple when the priests find out that the heroine has a huge amount of divine power. But even after the sequel of the book, nothing is mentioned about the Crown Prince's daughter.

"The Crown Prince has a daughter?"

"Yes. That's why I needed you to sign the confidentiality agreement contract. The princess contracted an illness called Herrad."

The former empress died from this illness. A disease that eats away a person's sanity.

"I understand…"

"Your book contained similar diseases that were cured by your protagonist, Eli. Is Eli based on a renowned doctor?"

"Unfortunately, no. The diseases that were mentioned in my book, how are you sure that the cures I've written work?"

"I had the Imperial Doctors test out the cures."

"Within 3 days of publication?"

That's crazy. Prime Minister Beumont nodded as if it was a normal thing to do.

"I see. I need to see the princess if I am to give you my insights. I also need more information and not just the symptoms."

Originally, Herrad is a curable disease. On Earth, it's called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Although I could help, this is very alarming, especially that it's a child that has it.

"The Crown Prince will have to supervise your visit. Would you be able to wait for a moment?"

"Take your time."

I originally didn't want to meet with the Crown Prince this early. I wanted the day where the heroine meets the Crown Prince to pass before meeting with him. I was so sure that they would meet without us arguing, but it seems that my work decided to intervene.

Prime Minister Beumont's moment turned into minutes and hours. I started to grow tired of waiting.

"I apologize for the long wait. The Crown Prince had matters to attend to."

In front of the Prime Minister was a man with pitch black hair and royal blue eyes. He really does look like a prince.

"May your knowledge help the Empire flourish," I greeted as I bowed down. No matter how high-ranking I may be, I can't neglect ettiquette in-front of the royal family.

"So, you are the Secret Novelist?"
