Looking at him in a daze I remained silent.

Of course, this was all an act. From the moment I saw him at the fountain I knew who he was. In the novel, he trained the MC for a short time but ultimately met his fate at the hands of the demon king.

Alistair Medici.

He took his master's last name after he finished training him at the age of 12. Many people were surprised that Casimir died 13 years ago however, 4 of the seven heroes were still alive looking over the Player's Association and their own guilds respectively.

Alistair like his master had a sense of justice. He did save people and was a part of the Player's Association and he was even considered to be on par with the Elite 10. When the demons launched their second invasion 10 years ago he single handly wiped out the first wave which allowed the other high-ranking humans to swoop in

While I knew something like this was going to happen I decided to nip this in the bud right now "So I am going to assume this is about the technique,"

"Of course, my master had never passed his technique for the 13 years in his remnant form. I expected it to be longer but you seemed to have proved me wrong," He then took a bit of his donut.

"But can I ask you something," I tilted my head "What?"

"Why were you talking to Elena Montfort?" He asked

"Well…I'm afraid that's a bit confidential," I said scratching the back of my head "Did she offer to teach you,"

"No, but she did offer me to join her guild," A slight frown appeared on his face "Listen if this is about me giving you the technique then-"

He raised his hand "I have no interest in taking that technique of yours,"

"Then why are you following me?"

"Because I wanted to see what you would do,"

"I see,"

"Now are you done with the questions?" Finishing his treat he then looked at me with serious eyes "Yup,"

"You said you're going to make a deal with the guild leader of the White Lotus guild correct,"

"Yes,"

"Would you like me to teach you?"

"Come again?" Pretending to be taken aback I looked at him in confusion.

"It's natural you obtained my master's technique and I teach you how to use that power,"

I put on a conflicted face "Don't worry this won't affect your deal with Elena,"

I sighed in relief "So how will this work,"

He thought about it "Wait until you sign a deal with Elena then we'll talk,"

"And what if she asks me to be her disciple?"

After discussing it for a bit I left the cafe.

Stretching I couldn't help but let out a deep sigh "What the hell am I even doing?"

*Knock*

*Knock*

"Come in,"

Hearing the permission to come in Amanda opened the door. Looking up from her a piece of paper Elena smiled "So what did you find,"

But when she saw the paper frown on Amanda's face "Not a lot I'm afraid,"

Handing over the paper Elena looked over it a dozen times causing her to frown as well "Is this really all you could find?"

"I'm afraid so,"

"HEY ART WAKE UP! WAKE UP!"

Hearing the shouting I made the pillow cover both of my ears "Shut it I need some sleep," mumbling I turned over.

But I was then forced awake to see the director "Wha-"

"Get dressed and come to my office!" With that order, she left leaving me confused.

After I got dressed I navigated the orphanage and found the office. Knocking on the door I announced myself coming in "I'm coming in director,"

When I opened the door I was frozen.

Why?

Cause Elena Montfort herself was sitting with that smile on her face with the director while holding a teacup "Ah Arthur good morning,"

"Morning?" I replied back in confusion.

"Please have a seat,"

Following the instructions I sat at the table and looked between the director and Elena "So what is this about?"

"Well, Ms. Montfort wants to adopt you,"

"oh…What!?"

In shock, I stood up "I know this is quite a shock but if you want to attend an academy you'll need a guardian," she said while taking a sip of her tea

"I-uh I need a few minutes to process this," I rubbed my forehead.

I knew helping her would have consequences but not this bad of a consequence!

Then again did I even bother? Sure a feeling told me to do it but I could've just ignored it and now I've pretty much messed up the story.

The worst is I couldn't even tell why I did it! Damn it! Why am I messing up my novel!?

After cursing at myself for a while I let out a sigh.

While yes I did lose my advantage I couldn't exactly tell how big of an impact this would have. But this could also be considered beneficial after all, the more people that could help fight against the demon the better right?

And even if there is a butterfly effect I just need to get strong enough to the point where it doesn't matter.

While it wasn't a great plan it was the best plan I could come up with due to the stupid and frankly retarded choice I made.

I internally cried 'damn my stupidity'

"Alright,"

"Great let's get you packed up," clapping her hands together she stood up "Wait isn't there supposed to be…" I then looked at Elena's face "Why did I even ask?"

Getting up from the seat I made my way back to the room and started to pack. Remembering something I pulled out my phone and checked my spare bank account causing me to smile.

Putting it back in my pocket I then thought about what to do with the money.

"Wait what if this affects future stocks?"

When I thought that I facepalmed.

Right now it was hitting home just how badly I had messed up. After I got everything packed I exited my room.

"You ready to go?"

"Shit-!" surprised I looked to see Elena's assistant looking at me "Don't scare me like that,"

Following her we made it to a car which seemed to be a new model which shouldn't be surprising. But I hadn't seen cars like this in my old world.

Opening the door I saw Elena sitting with a smile on her face. With the twitch of my brow, I got in.

"Been meaning to ask but how is this going to affect our deal?"

"You'll see when we get to the guild building,"

As drove I looked at the cityscape and noticed something I previously didn't. The ride was smooth and when I say smooth I mean smooth. Also, the seats were also very comfortable.

But when we stopped at a red light I noticed a church which caused me to frown.

"Lady of the stars?"

"Are you a believer of The Goddess of the Stars?" Elena asked

"No," I shook my head while I panicked inside.

'The Goddess of the Stars? Who the hell was that?'
