1 A Haunted Past-

I was found as a baby wrapped in a pink blanket with only a noted "Please Love Me!"

I have lived a really good life so to speak, traveled the world with my now adoptive parents. They love me and I guess that should be enough, right? I mean I shouldn't worry about my birth parents, should I?

I have always thought my birth mother left because she has no choice, like I was born from **** or she was in an abusive relationship and she left me to protect me. Yup, that's what I'm going with.

My parents have always been open about how I came to be with them. And I love them for that. But my past haunts me for some reason. We lived in the outskirts of a small town in south Alabama. I love it here, just enough city so I am not to bored and all the woods a country girl can ever need.

My childhood was wonderful... I've traveled to places that most have never even dreamed of going to. Waterfalls so colorful that you would swear had led lights hidden in them because of the pure colorful glow from under the water. Mountains with the purists of snow, forest with trees the height of a football field, and the lands where animals are free to roam without fear. That has always been my favorite places to be, with the animals. That's why I decided to become a veterinarian when I was 15. Luckily my parents approved of my decision.

God how I miss those days. Now all I do is study! Thank goodness I am almost finished and this is winter break. Woods, here I come! Don't get me wrong I love my college but I miss my woods, sweet tea and bon fires. After winter break I will start an apprenticeship with a small country veterinary clinic in North Carolina. Atleast I am going somewhere I haven't been! I I'm totally excited. I seriously love to travel.

All packed ready to head home, my parents are currently Tennessee, so I'd plan to leave from them home and drive to North Carolina. Suddenly my phone vibrates in my back pocket with a new text message.

UNKNOWN NUMBER

Party at Toni's! 😘

She host the best parties! Yup definitely going. I don't need to leave until in the morning and I'm in no hurry thank goodness.

All my classes are done for the day. Now time to wait for my grades for all the finals I turned today. I've studied hard so now I am going to reward my self by attending Toni's party tonight! The walk through campus was crazy today since everyone is excited for winter break. They will all be back after Christmas, not me. I will be finishing my last semester as an intern in North Carolina.

COFFEE! Yes! Caffeine!

Walking through the quad I cut across to the cafe, Shelia makes the best peppermint white chocolate mocha this side of the river.

"Large Peppermint.." I start to tell Shelia when interrupts me with "White Chocolate Mocha, ne whip cream" and we laugh... She knows she me well.

"Are you coming to Toni's party?" Shelia asks me with a giggle, "You know it's gonna be great, she always has the best drinks."

"Yes she does. I have a few things left to clean up in my dorm then I'll head over there for a while. It will be great to relax and have fun. This semester was rough!" I have always enjoyed her parties, I'm just not the type to get drunk. Been there and done that once, once was enough for me.

I'm not a crazy drunk, nope I'm a boring drunk. Which makes me out to be a party pooper most of the time, but I don't need alcohol to have a good time.

"Here ya go hun, see you tonight!" Shelia yells while she starts on the next customers order. People don't just come here for the coffee, they also come here because she treats everyone like family.
