1 Prologue

I was created to strip lungs

of their breath,

to destroy pretty little things

and burn them to the ground.

to bring the world to its knees

and hear my name spoken only in fearful whispers.

I was made

to be a monster.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

The sound of Hana's heels clicking and tapping against the floor was the only thing heard, piercing the silence that filled the whole room. It resonated, echoed, and bounced off the wall as she continued to walk. Her hair that was tied in a ponytail lightly swayed as she walked. However, she wasn't walking on a normal, clear, and empty path. She was walking on a bloody one, accompanied by corpses. Either of her enemies or her guards who died while protecting her. Their sheer determination and will just do their job and to protect is what always amazed her.

Bloodbath. The metallic smell coming from the scarlet liquid which once flowed in their vines was now seen on the floor, creating a pool underneath them, like spilled milk. She could only cover her nose as the rotten smell of dead bodies and the metallic smell of blood wafted to her nose, distracting her.

Those people who sacrificed their lives just to protect her in this small mission, she just can't let it be. So in order to repay them, their life, she must be the one who will grant death to the person who was the reason for it all. She was the only one left alive in this building along with another person who is going to have their life taken afterward.

"May you all rest in peace," She said in a whisper as she passed by multiple dead bodies, her heels stepping on their pool of blood that lightly splattered before she stopped from her tracks. Standing in front of a metal door, the gap or open space is seen between the floor and door had light passing through it and she could tell that there was a person inside because she could hear a faint voice and laughter coming from the inside.

Her hand made its way to the doorknob and she held it for a little longer before slowly twisting it as she swung the door open gently. The room was bright, brighter compared to the dark room with dead bodies that she was in earlier.

"You're late! I have been waiting for so long, have you killed all of them yet?" This man must be the reason for it all and it seems like he doesn't completely recognize who she was or mistaken her as his subordinate.

"Yes, but I still haven't killed one," She responded as she stared at the man with a huge build in front of her, the first few buttons of his shirt wasn't buttoned, displaying his collarbone and giving her a slight peek of what's inside. He looked drunk as he has a glass of alcohol in his fines and a few bottles on the ground and a table near him. Hana walked towards his direction, her hand on her sides. Her dominant hand was holding a handgun, her shirt has a few splashes of blood, and there was a thin red line on her cheek and a red liquid trailed down her cheek coming from it.

It dripped down her cheek and fell to the hard concrete, bursting on the floor like fireworks.

It was a small wound that she got when she was fighting with someone who was using a knife. Even though she was able to dodge his attack, thrusting his knife forward, he managed to lightly wound her cheek.

"Who is it?" The man slurred and Hana stopped in front of him, raising her hand that was holding the gun, pointing the nuzzle on his forehead, maintaining a good distance between the two of it.

"You."

Her finger squeezed the trigger and the sound of a gunshot was heard, it echoed inside the room and rang inside her ears. The smell of gunpowder with a mix of blood.

She didn't give the man a chance to say his last words or call out for help, but even if he did, nobody would come to save him anyway. Even so, he is still going to die no matter what happens. Even if she handed him to the officials or the police, they are still going to be executed for their crimes.

The sound of a loud thud, his body falling backward with the floor there to receive. The sound of glass shattering, the alcohol which was inside the glass was now spilled on the floor along with a pool of blood. His eyes were still open.

A trail of smoke rose from the nuzzle of her gun and she let out a sigh.

She crouched down beside his body and closed his eyes. It looked creepy when it's open as it was staring at her.

"Rest in peace."

She said it in a cold voice, one that is so cold even a cold-blooded snake would have chills before she stood up and sighed, her sigh was resigned and weary as her tense shoulders slumped and relaxed while she continued walking. Leaving behind the trail of dead bodies and bloodbath as she continued walking down the dark and bloody path.

This room, this building, this city, this country, this world. This was never a good place to live in, bloody, cruel, dangerous. Death is inevitable, unstoppable. It's a natural phenomena in a person's life, like the sun rising every morning and setting when the night comes. Like a storm passing by, destroying everything in its way. It's that one force that stops a person's life cycle.

One could only know what death truly feels like once they were able to come face-to-face with it. And for her, it always follow her around and would linger like the scent of coffee on her clothes or strawberry in her lips.

Death is the last chapter of everyone's lives. The epilogue. The ending of their story called life.

Every night could be the night of your death.
