"He's paying for all three of us!! Just hand him the check!!" I heard Sahana say to the waiter.

My eyes shot open and turned my head to look up at her, gobsmacked. Then, she came up to me, "I'll see you neighbor." she patted my shoulder and winked at me.

My heart jumped.

"Let's go girls." My eyes followed them until they left the café. I mouthed a 'wah', being stunned and unable to say anything after her comment.

I turned to look at Kai who was laughing his ass off.

"Ahahaha, you gotta pay for all three of them hahaha," I could see his eyes slowly tearing up. I slightly got up from my seat and extended an arm to slap his head. "Shut up," I said sulking. "Ouch," Kai rubbed his head.

Kai later ordered his breakfast, giving me half of his cinnamon roll when it came. It looked too good so I was practically obliged to eat it.

And then I ordered a chai.

Don't judge me.

"Ok, let's go now. Check please!" I asked the waiter. Not to my surprise, the waiter gave me 2 checks. "Wait, I'll pay for our check, I basically was the only one eating," Kai said sliding our check towards him.

"Haha, you are practically always broke, didn't you see how empty your fridge was?" I chuckled bringing the check back to me.

Kai crossed his arms, acting offended, "Uh, excuse me, but I think I am not always broke. Remember, a week ago I paid for both of our dinners, and that was expensive!" I started to laugh a little harder, "First of all, last week's dinner was fast food. And it was $15.00"

Kai was cornered.

"Psh, whatever. But I am NOT broke! Don't ever call me that again!!" I put my hands up, "Ok, ok I'm sorry. I won't call you broke again, hehe."

"That's right," Kai tried to sound tough. "Haha, I'm happy to have such entertainment during a gloomy morning." I smiled swinging my arm around Kai's shoulder while exiting the café.

"Thank you! Have a great day!" we both said to the workers and they said the same.

"So now that we had breakfast, what should we do now?" Kai asked. "Hm, I'm not sure. Maybe, chill at the park? We took our drinks to go, so we can just sip them while talking and embrace the wonderful place that is New York City." I smiled looking up at the sky. "You mean exactly what we did in the café? Except just outside now?" Kai asked unamused.

"Yup!" I smiled, "And why are you the one acting all gloomy now? Are we playing the opposite roles now?" I ruffled his hair. "Ah never!! I am the jolly one out of us two, and it will always be that way!!" he jokingly said. "Haha, that's the spirit!" I squeezed him sideways. "Off to the park we go!" we both said in unison, pointing somewhere like we were superheroes.

Hugesmiles were on our faces as we acted like five-year-olds. We laughed about dumb things while walking to the park. Who knows what we will do once we get there?

Hopefully, either of us won't get stuck on a slide or something.

Once we reached there, I looked for a bench for both of us to settle on, but they all were full.

One in particular caught my eye. Not the bench, but the people on it.

"Ashley,"

It's the second time today.

Kai turned to me, "Wait what? Ashley? Where?" he said looking all over the park. I pointed to where she was, with no emotion. "Oh my god." Kai said.

The thing was, Ashley wasn't alone.

Instead, she was laughing with another guy as they were each enjoying a steamy drink.

"Already? God, talk about moving on in the next hour." sighed Kai. "It's ok bro, I'm here for you." He said trying to comfort me as best as he could. "Thanks, man," I tried not to sound as hurt as I was on the inside.

Hasn't my heart been broken enough?

"But I'll be fine. Don't worry too much about me." I plastered a smile on my face towards Kai, and we left the park, without even riding a single slide.

Kai drove us back to his apartment and on the way, we decided to have a comedy movie marathon. Throughout his life, Kai has been collecting movies of all genres and has every movie series you can think of, ranging all the way from The Fast and The Furious, to Disney's Frozen.

For this marathon, we came to the decisions of watching, White Chicks, Dumb and Dumber, The Three Stooges, and The Rush Hour trilogy.

"What a beautiful chocolate man, ahaha!!" Kevin said disguised as a white woman (White Chicks).

Kai and I both burst out laughing, "AHAAHAHA OH MA GAWWW!!" popcorn was flying everywhere. Both of us were out of control, holding our stomachs, tears dripping out of our eyes. We watched on and on for hours until it became dark outside which was the indication for me to leave.

"Ok dude, I think I have to go now," I said looking out through the window. "Ah, you're right it's getting late now," Kai replied looking at his phone, flinching at the sudden brightness once he turned it on. I grabbed my coat and keys heading out, "Ok then man, bye." I said as I opened his door to leave. "Byee, see you tomorroww." Kai said waving at me. I was about to close the door, but stopped and peeped my head back in, "And thanks for getting my mind off of her," I said to Kai smiling, "No probs dude, you know I gotchu." Kai smiled back. "Haha ok then, bye." I said before closing the door.

Unfortunately, Kai's effect wore off.

The whole time driving home, I couldn't stop thinking about how Ashley was acting so happy with that other guy. I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration.

Did it even affect her?

Was this relationship just another one to her?

Was it that meaningless to her?

"Oh shit, it's already 8?" I said looking at the time in my car. I finally reached my apartment building and rushed to my floor. In no time I opened the door to my apartment, and was greeted by Amiga, who I could tell was hungry by all her whining. "Sorryyy Amiga, I should've called Bonnie to give you dinner. I didn't think I would come home this late, I'm sorryy." I squatted down and kissed her head, hoping she would soon forgive me.

By the way, Bonnie was my dog sitter for Amiga. Anytime I know that I would be coming home late from work, she'll come over and take care of Amiga.

Bonnie's a great person. I can always rely on her.

She sometimes reminds me of mom.

I quickly gave Amiga her dinner, made some for myself, and started to get ready for bed. After brushing my teeth, I headed to my bedroom and was about to envelope myself into my cozy blanket, when I heard my doorbell ring.

"Huh? What the hell? Right when I'm going to sleep, who could possibly need me at this hour? UGH." My head hung back in annoyance and I walked to my door.

"I swear if it's some random pers-"

I was shocked to see who was outside my door.

"What are you doing here?"

"We need to talk."
